Smartbook Tablet Concept, Some Sort of iPad, But With More Features

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (6 votes, average: 4.50 out of 5)

Loading ... Loading ... If you’re looking for an Apple iPad rival, it’s not hard to find one nowadays, with all those cool tablets coming this year. For now, we turn to concepts, like the Smartbook device pictured below and designed by In-oh Yoo & Sun-woong Oh for Metatrend Institute. What does this device have as a plus? A smartphone that it can use as a QWERTY keyboard!

Smartbook Tablet Concept, Some Sort of iPad, But With More Features

Yes, you’ve got it! The Smartbook tablet concept is made out of two devices: the tablet per se, looking very much like an iPad and a smartphone that can turn into a QWERTY keyboard and get connected to the tablet. On board of the main units you’ll find a gravity sensor, so it’ll work in both landscape and portrait mode. You might also want to know that the tablet is compatible with a stylus, used with its 7 inch screen.

You can sync the smartphone/keyboard with the main device and charge them by uniting connecting the units through magnet. Once the QWERTY keyboard is folded, it turns into a cellphone, with a touch display and microphone. Both devices support Chrome OS or Android OS and use a touch interface.

Google Tablet Runs Chrome OS, Only a Prototype for Now

Loading ... Loading ... If you’re the kind of person who waits for the Chrome OS as some sort of new wave of technology, we’ve got goodies for you: Google has just introduced a tablet or two, but these are only mockups. They’re meant to show the potential of the Chrome OS, mainly its cool interface.

Coincidence with the announcement of the Apple iPad? Certainly not, so it seems that Google doesn’t want to be left behind in this duel. The images were made available by Glen Murphy, Google’s Chrome UI lead designer and the interface will apparently be available on tablets with displays ranging from 5 to 10 inches in diagonal.

The Google Tablet seems bigger than the iPad, but certainly not huge like a portable Microsoft Surface, or something. Advantages? Multitasking, for starters… and probably better specs, plus a cheaper price. Don’t forget to have a look at the video below, showing the Google tablet in action.

Apple iPad Tablet Concept Interface is Stunning (Video)

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Loading ... Loading ... It’s very likely that this is not the Apple Tablet interface, but in case it is, we’re surely pleased to see it. Imagine a combination between iPhone OS, Mac OS X and HTC TouchFLO 3D, with a little bit of something extra. The UI is very finger-friendly and proposes a new way of unlocking a tablet PC:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

The user will manage the device with his thumbs, as he holds the tablet with his two hands. The unlock screen shows essential info, like the time, date, weather info, a calendar and an unique system of unlocking the tablet.

Afterwards, you get a glimpse of the product’s interface and know that there are two virtual sliders used for unlocking, one on the left and one on the right side, depending on which hand you use.

Loading ... Loading ... The Apple iPad should be real in less than two days, but till its debut we feast our eyes with one more tablet concept, the Macview, created by Patrycjusz Brzezinski. This original device doesn’t feature a QWERTY keyboard, but it uses two touchscreen displays, one of them serving as the virtual keyboard.

Based on Mac OS X, this Apple Tablet is very slim, with a 7mm waistline and we learn that Macview also comes with a battery able to last 10 hours, 1TB SSD memory and 4GB RAM. WiFi and Bluetooth are also supported, as well as Ebooks, video playback and a 1152 x 720 pixel resolution.

Safari will be the browser of choice on this supposed iPad and if you’re wondering about size, the product measures 24 x 15.6 cm. I haven’t seen the real Apple device just yet, but if we were to believe the leaks online, this concept is far better than the real thing.

Apple iPad Tablet (iSlate) First Pictures Leaked!

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Loading ... Loading ... Although this is not a concept, we can’t afford not to drool all over these fresh leaked pics of the upcoming Apple Tablet. Turns out that the product might not be called the iSlate after all, but rather the iPad, as shown by a couple of trademarks filed by Apple over the last years.

The photos right here seem genuine, specially since Mr. Blurrycam doesn’t usually show fake stuff. As you can see, the photos show the glass display on the device, placed on top of a MacBook keyboard, in order to avoid speculations saying that this is in fact an oversized iPhone display.

Does this look like the device we’ve seen so many times as a concept on this site?

Loading ... Loading ... We’re in 2010, folks, the year of the Apple Tablet debut and the iPhone 4G release, so let’s face it: we’ve got to prepare for the next gen iPhone. We don’t yet know if Apple will change the handset’s design, but we wouldn’t mind if it would look something like this:

iPhone 4G Concept and Roundup of Rumours Revealed; Front Camera and Touch Case Included?

There’s also a pretty neat roundup of rumours concerning the new device made by Cupertino, all of them comprised in the following image (click to enlarge). Among those, it’s very likely that the iPhone 4G will sport an OLED display, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, a front facing video camera and a dual core processor and more RAM.

It’s interesting to note that the launch of the product, supposed to take place between May and July is considered a 99% sure fact. Speculations regarding the next gen iPhone also mention the presence of a touch sensitive case (making the handset resemble the Magic Mouse), 64GB of NAND flash memory, portable DVR functionality and built-in RFID.

iPhone 4G Design, Created by Guillaume Moshi Guyader

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Loading ... Loading ... We all know that the Apple Tablet is coming, as well as the iPhone 4G, but all we’ve got right now are concepts of both devices. While the tablet is more likely to leak or be launched this month, the next gen iPhone is a long way from release, so we’re content with having a look at Guillaume Moshi Guyader’s concept design below:

iPhone 4G Design, Created by Guillaume Moshi Guyader

We really wish that something would change with the future iPhone, since Apple’s design is starting to get old, specially if we have a look at what HTC and Motorola are making right now. Even a minor change would be welcome, like a new button, a bigger touchscreen, maybe 2 screens or a physical keyboard.

What would you add to the iPhone 4G concept?

Apple Tablet Concept Looks Surreal – Magic Slate, the Right Name?

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (6 votes, average: 4.33 out of 5)

Loading ... Loading ... Guess what we received on our email address a couple of days ago? Yes, you’ve got it, a brand new Apple Tablet concept and this time it’s dubbed both the iSlate and Magic Slate, so you can pick the name you like. The man behind this brilliant design is Rodolphe Desmare, who we thank and give thumbs up for his ideas.

Apple Tablet Concept Looks Surreal Magic Slate, the Right Name?

The Magic Slate/iSlate looks like a full touchscreen device, incredibly thin and compatible with the famous iPhone apps, that’ll probably be reformatted for it. We’re really curious if the display is a 7 inch or a 10 inch screen, as the latest online speculations have claimed…

This might just be the very last concept we see before the real Apple Tablet gets launched. In case you forgot, Apple has an official event scheduled on January 26th (some say 27th), so we’ve got 20 more days of doubt and mystery.
