Nokia Remix London will be the event that celebrates the birth of a new handset, the Nokia Tube, XpressMusic 5800. It’s been a long wait, since the days when “The Dark Knight” movie was a hit and the Tube appeared in it, as a tool of destruction. Well, destruct it will, but not the iPhone, since this touchscreen baby will not, I repeat will not be a smartphone.

17 Hours Left Till Nokia Tube Gets Launched!

It will rather be a mid end music phone destined for the masses, a challenger for the Walkman series, but one that uses a neat S60 Touch platform, that will up the potential of the device. This is in no way an iPhone challenger, but there’s still hope, since the first touchscreen Nokia should be followed by a second, third … and finally the Nokia Morph!

Mokia 8015, Lean, Mean, Coffee Making Machine

The first Android smartphone has plenty of features, as does the HTC Touch HD, but can they make coffee? Well, at least this funny design by Francesco Lerro can, the Mokia 8015. Its Bluetooth headset can be used as a spoon for stirring your daily fuel. How cool is that? I mean, both phone and coffee maker…

Mokia 8015, Lean, Mean, Coffee Making Machine

I wonder if such a concept phone will ever make it on the market? Swiss Army concept phones should be no biggie to create, so making a fruit and bread slicer from a (let’s say i)Phone is surely an option.

has been talked about on our site more than the iPhone, if you ask me, but there’s a reason to all this fuss. We’re dealing with the first Symbian S60 and first (almost) Nokia handset that uses a full touchscreen. Basically, the only new info regarding the Nokia Tube, or the XpressMusic 5800 if you want to call it like that, is its launch date: October 2nd.

Nokia Tube (XpressMusic 5800) Gets Launched on October 2nd; Specs and Official Photo Revealed

The photo above seems to be the official press pic of the device and comes with yet again a list of specs of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Having a look at it, we discover a 3.2″ touchscreen display with a 640 x 360 resolution, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash and 30 FPS VGA recording and A-GPS.

Also included in the specs list is Symbian S60 Taco 5, the OS of the new phone, plus WiFi, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a TV-out port. If you’re wondering about the storage space of the Nokia Tube, you’ll get 150 MB of user memory plus 8 or 16 GB on a microSDHC card (an 8GB one is included in the box).

Vertu Nautilus, Metal Elegance

If the Vertu Nautilus concept phone were James Bond’s handset, he wouldn’t hesitate to use it as a weapon… As I see it, this device designed by Tobias Hornof is all metal, tough and dust/water/shock resistant but still it’s elegant enough to be put on a restaurant table next to the silver plates.

Inspired clearly by Jules Verne’s imaginary submarine, this handset’s clearly one for Aston Martin owners and other such high class folks…

Fresh after seeing some new Nokia concept phones we get a real treat from our favourite Finns: leaked marketing materials that show the E72 and E75 handsets in action. Seems that Nokia’s preparing two new E Series phones and we should focus on the E75, an extremely promising S60 slider.

Here are two shots of the Nokia E75:

The E72 and the E75 look like perfect messaging devices and texting/email should be a breeze on these QWERTY cellphones. What’s Nokia going to leak next? Some specs for these devices or the long awaited ?

Here are some E72 shots, in case you didn’t have enough of the E Series:

Nokia F700 Should Be the Perfect Finnish Touchscreen Handset

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Well, I haven’t seen a Nokia F Series till now, but who knows what the future holds, as we approach a potential announcement of the handset. This touchscreen device is dubbed the F700 and looks like something LG would design. As for the real artist behind this , all we’ve got is something like “vb vella”.

Quite a thick slider we’re dealing with and I’m betting on an accelerometer under that “hood”.

Nokia N98 Concept Phone, Designed by Tobias Hornof

Last time we saw the Nokia N98 concept phone, it was an iPhone clone with a twist and uber-specs. Well, Tobias Hornof gave it another shot and created the wonderful device below. This N98 concept design is surely no iPhone, or its remote relative, but rather takes the whole idea of full touchscreen handset further.

Nokia N98 Concept Phone, Designed by Tobias Hornof

It reminds me of the LG Synthesis, while the full touchscreen is really FULL, as I can see that there are no visible edges at the side of the phone. The interface is basic enough to suit any user’s tastes, but I’m curios to see how a virtual QWERTY keypad works on this display. All in all a great device!

Nokia 7001, as Futuristic as it Gets…

We have to start by mentioning that these is not an official design, but a fan made device, bearing the name of Nokia 7001. Can a square mobile handset, half the size of the iPhone make it on today’s market?

Nokia 7001, as Futuristic as it Gets...

The 7001 was designed by Tobias Hornof and some may see it as a square LG Prada, but what’s fascinating is the slick interface of this exotic phone. I mean, come on, there’s even a virtual QWERTY keypad on that tiny screen!

Fancy a stylus or will you rely on your piano-playing thin fingers?

Nokia N-XT Concept IS the Future of Mobile Phones, a Symbian Freak Initiative

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)

The N-XT concept phone is the product of a man that LOVES cellphones and mobile tech, Christexaport, as he’s known in the Symbian-freak forum. He recently wrote a bold letter to Mr. Ukko Lappalainen, the head of Nokia’s Nseries segment, including some images of his concept phone. Here’s one of them:

Nokia N-XT Concept IS the Future of Mobile Phones, a Symbian Freak Initiative

Christexaport knows how to point out each flaw and each achievement of the Finns in the past years, but also stated what he wants from the N Series devices of 2008. As for the N-XT handset, this is a true beauty with a very, very appealing spec sheet that includes a 4.1″ , a DLP 720p projector, an 1800 mAH battery and an Assisted-GPS with compass.

Add an 8 megapixel camera to that list and couple it Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, user controlled optical zoom depth, face detection, dual LED and Xenon Flash plus WVGA video capture (30 fps).

Nokia N-XT Concept IS the Future of Mobile Phones, a Symbian Freak Initiative

The Nokia N-XT is basically a mobile multimedia computer, rather than your average smartphone and it’s designed for media sharing and creation. It uses the innovative transforming slider form factor you can see in the images attached to this article. The sliding part can move upward, forward and atop the handset, in a T shape, an idea that would go perfectly with the successor of the N96.

Nokia N-XT Concept IS the Future of Mobile Phones, a Symbian Freak Initiative

The internal specs list of the device looks reasonably well: 160 MB RAM, 256 MB phone memory, 24 GB internal storage space, microSDHC slot, dedicated GPU (made by Nvidia, maybe?) and dedicated Audio DSP. As far as connectivity goes, we’ve got Firewire, Bluetooth, WiFi, microUSB 2.0, HDMI out and quadband WCDMA.

We must mention that we fully support Christexaport’s initiative and hope that Nokia will use his design in order not only to perfect the N Series devices, but to upgrade the entire smartphone industry.

Nokia Scroll OLED Laptop Is Finally Something Hotter Than The Morph

What say you? A Nokia laptop that’s voice activated and uses a scroll-style OLED display? Why, this must be gibberish talk son… or is it? Rodrigo Mercado surely thinks it’s not, since he designed this concept laptop, that’s got a bit of that beautiful Morph in it. And it’s the flexible bit I’m talking about…

Nokia Scroll OLED Laptop Is Finally Something Hotter Than The Morph

Imagine sitting on a bench and suddenly rolling up your Nokia laptop… How cool is that? I’m not even going to start about the inclusion of Skype or phone functions on the device, as it’s so surreal that it might crumble at the touch of a thought. Superb design job Rodrigo!
