Face it, we’re living in an eco-trendy era! No longer we see stars getting criticized by environmental organisations, as they donate everything they have to them, drive hybrid cars, use ecological phones and gadgets and become vegetarians. Well, here’s a phone for those people, the Vertu Essence, an eco-friendly device of 2015.
Vertu Essence was created by Wen-Sheng Hong and it comes with a toughened ceramic and titanium case plus a sapphire crystal screen that will probably last forever. Notice that cool farmed bamboo exterior granting the phone the eco-look plus the option of switching parts of the handset in the following years, as the technology evolves.

We’re back to 2015, with a Vertu handset designed for ladies this time, the Suave phone. This concept was created by Christopher Tak Cheung Yue and it’s the new definition of luxury and sophistication. It comes with organic shapes and turns into a comfortable interaction environment.
In order to make it a real Vertu, it includes precious metals like yellow gold or pink gold (front side) plus a titanium rim and sheep skin leather (back side).

Seems that most designers have 2 years in mind when creating the phones of the future: 2012 and 2015. After seeing 3 Nokia cellphones of 2012, it’s time to check out the Vertu line of 2015, which includes the Edge handset. This concept design was created by Samant Khanna and it’s a small 70 mm device with a touchscreen.
The Vertu Edge comes with a small frontal screen used for the basic functions and a foldable edge-to-edge touchscreen at the back of the handset. This can be folded upwards, converting Edge into a bar phone. The other specs are impressive too: built-in GPS, 16GB of internal memory, high-speed mobile broadband support and Office Mobile.
All of that is packed within a stylish handset, that I hope we’ll see on the market sooner than 2015.

Nokia’s first touchscreen phone might be just around the corner, as we’ve seen it featured in the poster below bearing the name “Nokia XpressMusic 5800“.
This is a SMS Shop poster, but there aren’t many details about the S60 device, except for the fact that it will support WLAN and HSDPA. While most of us were waiting for an “XpressMedia” device, Nokia has decided to go with a more media-oriented handset, or so it seems.

Seems that most awaited handset of the year, the Nokia Tube touchscreen phone, was leaked on Flickr, where it showed up with its beautiful black case and not too many details. The Flickr user J. Blade made those pics public and he mentions that the handset will be available in January 2009.
We’ve named it Nokia Tube, the Tube, Nokia 5800, Nokia XpressMedia 5800, but now it goes as Nokia 5800 X-Press Music C. All we know is that this device is a prototype, without a battery, but there seems to be a 3 megapixel camera at the back of the phone and a Carl Zeiss lens to complete the specs.
Nokia refused to comment on this story, as they usually never talk about rumours or speculation. Is this the real thing? Disappointed, are we?

BloodRabbit, a Product Design Forums user has a Nokia-branded treat for us, a device that features a new display concept that shifts its shape. The ShapeShift project relies on the same idea used to freeze ice cubes: they imitate the shape of the environment that surrounds them.
Nokia ShapeShift comes with a preset form made out of 2 plastic layers, that’ll replace the standard pixel-based screen. One of these layers is a flexible one, while the second is a hard material and between the two there’s some sort of special liquid. This will have the same refraction as the layers.
Moving the liquid around between the layers creates button shapes on the surface of the display, allowing the user to interact with the handset. The cellphone measures 11 x 5,5 x 1,2 cm and weighs 125 grams, while the display is a 4 inch unit.

The folks of Allaboutsymbian imagined the future of the Nokia N-series and designed a fresh N100 unit. It solves all of the issues of the previous handsets, like the dim screen of the N82, or the unprotected camera glass of the Nokia N95 8GB. The N100 comes with a 2.8 inch display, the same as the E61 and N95 8GB.
Also, the concept features an N82-style protected 5 megapixel rear camera that also records VGA video. Troubled by the sunny weather when using your smartphone? Forget about that, because the N100 features a transflective screen plus GPS, WiFi and a BP-4L 1500 mAh battery.
It measures 120 x 51 x 12 mm and weighs 104 grams, plus it comes with a numeric keypad with discrete, large numbers, application shortcut keys plus microUSB jack, a 3.5 mm stereo audio/TV out jack. There’s no info on the RAM, processor or the internal memory of the device, but I bet that it packs some steam, even in that segment.

Since day 1 of this site I’ve seen slim sliders, “phat” touchscreen smartphones and sci-fi handsets, but none of them impressed as much as the Nokia 888. It’s not the piece of news of the day, but it’s a nice concept to glance at, every once in a while.
Nokia 888 is targeted at young consumers, active ones and comes with a liquid battery, speech recognition, a flexible touchscreen and a touch sensitive body cover. The latter allows the device to adapt to its surrounding environment, shifting its shape as required.
This Nokia concept phone can easily be turned into a bracelet, a head band or any other sort of accessory.
Talk about ergonomic… the 888 changes shape and looks like a mobile phone when you need to call someone or receive a call. This Nokia wonder also uses an original E-motions technology, that allows you to show your emotions electronically. How? By sending forms to your friends, shaped like hearts or maybe you want to send a dancing form to start a party.
This is the tip of flexibility if you ask me and we have to thank Tamer Nakisci for the great idea.

There are few concept phones that remain in the memory of tech geeks and Nokia Aeon is one of them. It may be the touchscreen or the sci-fi look, but it’s there in our heads and waiting to be released. The latest piece of news is that it already exists, at least in the Nokia labs, so we’ve got an Aeon coming soon folks.
The only proof of the statement above is a picture, more or less fake that shows a handset with touchscreen displays and a removable bottom part. This part could be the Nokia interactive touch keypad we’re eager to see in action.

We’re familiar with the Provoke Design name, since we last saw their brilliant interface showing us the true power of touchscreen displays. Now we’ve spotted a prototype image of theirs showing a pretty neat touchscreen device. Provoke is known to work closely with Nokia, so with a bit of speculation this phone might turn out to be the Nokia Tube.
