Morning Dew Phone Has Exquisite Industrial Design, Beautiful Idea for a Charger

Seunghan Song envisioned a device called Morning Dew Mobile, a mobile phone concept that’s more of a piece of art than a regular smartphone.

Well, for one thing we have a device that’s all rounded up, like a modern MP3 player would be. It’s a slide device with a circular control area that reminds me of the iPod a little bit, plus some very cool lighting effects. This handset has gradation of lights, that are made to look like waves of water when you look at the phone from above. When you slide up the device, the light effects move from the circular navigation area to the end of the numeric pad.

This would make a great fashion phone and if you throw in some environmentally friendly features, you’re all set. And then there’s the charger… a pink arc that allows the handset slide down on its surface like a drop of water on a petal, leaf or grass. As the device gets closer to the edge it becomes more and more charged, like the dew does in the morning with petals. What do you say of Seunghan Song’s work?

Curved Phones Trend Spreads, the Result is the AXIO Power Smartphone

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Curved phones are all the rage now, with models such as the Nexus S and Xperia Arc adopting the trendy curve nowadays. Well, let’s take the curvy shapes to the next level and check out the AXIO Power smartphone, a design creation of Christos Ragias.

The idea behind a curved phone is reduce the crowd in your pocket and adapt the handset to the natural shapes of the human body, even with the device in your pocket. Another advantage is the fact that a curved cellphone will stick to the user’s face better, since our heads aren’t squares after all. This model looks really nice and wide and I’d see HTC creating such a device.

As you can see this model comes with a pretty powerful camera, maybe an 8 megapixel unit with dual LED flash and a speaker in the area. The power button is also interestingly integrated in the middle top and it spells out “Power”. There’s something very “automotive” about this phone, but I can’t really put my finger on it…

Glance Skinny Handset Fits Into Any Pants

This is where the Glance skinny handset comes into play, a concept created by designer Alan Gerardo Farias. We’re dealing with a 4 inch OLED screen phone, with a display that’s scratch resistant.

This is an extremely slim dual display phone, with dual speakers, mini USB port, a bottom 2 inch OLED display for notifications and a front and back camera with flash. The reason why this unit is called “Glance”? Well, in the moment you hold the handset in your pocket, only the smaller 2 inch screen can be seen, so you can have a glance at it, to see the missed calls, texts, twitter mentions and whatnot.

One can only guess the thickness of this model, but I’m supposing it’s below the 7mm speculated for the iPhone 5. The only question here is the material and the component types, since it would take serious nanotech to produce something so skinny…

Tron Style Phone is All About the LEDs

This Tron Style handset concept comes from Andrew D. Morgan, who created a futuristic device that draws its inspiration from the famous sci-fi picture that rocked the world last year.

This futuristic phone uses LED lighting in a pattern that resembles the one of the TRON vehicles and suits on “programs” or people. The sleek dark chrome finishing is extremely elegant and makes this unit fit into the fashion handset segment, if you ask me. Tron Style comes with a an LED Ring identifier touch area, power level indicator, audio output and power connecting port.

Simple, yet beautiful. What more could a TRON fan want?

Bell & Ross Luxury Phone Concept Looks Appealing

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Created by Coll Snowball of Idbarn Design Studio, the handset below is supposed to be a luxury phone, belonging to the Bell & Ross series of products. This is a famous watchmaker, that will deliver a very interesting approach to mobile luxury phones, with simplicity and elegance as the main attributes.

The result will be a very expensive handset, with a front bezel resembling a piece of the game Arkanoid. This model comes with physical switches, making it easy to use even when wearing gloves. The Bell & Ross concept phone comes with modern headphones, that are tangle free and stylish. Their design reminds me a lot of Beats by Dr. Dre.

Considering the watch maker Bell & Ross uses titanium brushed casings on its products, we expect them on the phones, too. A 10 megapixel camera and compatibility with multiple networks are also present on this handset, as well as navigation services. Designer leather cases and mobile docks will be bundled with the unit.

ASUS IRIS, Portable Device Concepts Showcased at Computex 2011

Taking place in Taipei, the show includes especially tablets and focuses on the latest innovations in the mobile field.

These ASUS concepts are elegant and simplistic in design. I have to notice the precious-looking bezel that some of the handsets and tablets sport and wonder what material that may be. These models seem incredibly thin and their screens look very much like E-ink material, unless there’s some other new technology in the mix.

Tablets that are very thin and sport precious metal edges and finishes in leather sound like a good idea. Maybe we’ll see Vertu producing one fashion tablet like this some day…

Ensemble Phone is Fashionable and Sci-Fi

Well, this is the case with the Ensemble phone concept, pictured below and created by Jerome Olivet. Gone are the days of rectangular phones and now we’re dealing with a curvy unit with a glossy shell, that includes some metal.

The outer area of the device is made out of plastic, painted in pearly white and we also learn that Ensemble relies heavily on voice control, thanks to voice recognition technology. There’s also a micro display on the side, allowing the user to access information and this is a touchscreen, that was included in an original way.

The device measures 3 x 11 x 4.5cm and it’s very original, but we wonder if this sci-fi phone concept is comfortable enough for the average user…

We’re talking about the Flex Mobile concept, created by Carolina Rebelo and having the ability to flex according to your needs and wishes, thus becoming a bracelet, for example.

The handset charges using solar energy and you have to know that the Flex Mobile is covered with solar coating, for this purpose. You only need to place it in direct sunlight and in 5 hours it will get all the needed juice to operate. As far as bending the device is concerned, this flexible phone can bend to an angle of 30 degrees.

There’s also a camera on board, believe it or not and the LED screen is flexible, too. Sleek and modern, for modern women!

Mobiado Aston Martin Prototype is a Transparent Phone

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Here’s an official concept phone this time, one created by Aston Martin and Mobiado, the famous luxury gadget designer. What you can see below is a transparent phone running Android and these are all renders, right now. Dubbed the CTP002, this phone is a big sapphire glass surface with titanium edges.

The glass is in fact a capacitive touchscreen and Mobiado hopes to also implement a SIM card slot, a chipset and a battery on this gizmo. Mobiado CTP022 is supposed to connect to the car and its display, with the latter showing a map of local venues and friends from the Foursquare network. Turns out that the camera in your car can snap a photo and post it on Facebook letting everyone know you own an Aston Martin.

This is all daydreaming if you ask me, but the concept of the device will be shown at BaselWorld in Switzerland, so feel free to drop by, if interested.

Str1pe Phone Uses Gesture Recognition on Its Lower Half

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The trend of creating a phone with a main display and a secondary touchpad/screen under it is gaining more and more followers, so this time we’re dealing with Str1pe phone concept, that also joins the gang. This device was created by deviantART user TJKohl.

As you can see under the main touchscreen there’s an anodized/brushed aluminum stripe area, that’s touch sensitive and allows you to swipe right and left. This area also recognizes gestures, just like a laptop’s trackpad and this looks like a very elegant device, maybe one that deserves LG or Apple branding.
