As part of the LG Design the Future Competition, an honourable mention was also awarded to the LG Surface concept phone. This is in fact a watch phone for the blind, featuring a Braille keypad and an unique shape, allowing the user to sense the orientation of the device by feel.

LG Surface’s tapered shape helps the user distinguish its orientation and we learn that the two top pieces of the phone are connected. This concept includes a slide on/off watch band, allowing the unit to act as a free standing cellphone. The watch part is provided by two raised dots that move clockwise and tell hours and minutes.

The button on top will trigger the speak out loud function, the one on the left is used for send/receive features and right side button is used for delete/cancel.
