Remember the
LG Design the Future competition? This contest allowed the best designers to show the world their views regarding the future of mobile phones and now, we’ve got one of the winners pictured below. LG HiFi is both a concept headset and a phone and it turns from one design to the other easily.

HiFi is a touchscreen phone that can be turned into a headset and wrapped around the head for audiophiles to enjoy. Also, the handset can be incorporated into laptops and netbooks, thanks to slots and can be worn on the user’s wrist.

Kenny Lohr II created the LG Oyster Mobile, a concept phone that’s both elegant and innovative, probably fitting the thin wrists of young ladies. The device draws its inspiration from oysters and it comes with a plastic casing with translucent areas, that let the LED lights shine through.

The phone uses the thin film rechargeable battery technology, an OLED screen and also supports Internet connectivity, plus social networking. Too bad that we can’t see more of the LG concept phone’s inside, but the outside is also not to be neglected.

We’ve seen phones inspired by perfumes, flowers and even animals, but this is the first time I’ve seen a whiskey-themed device. Juyoung Kim designed the
LG Cyon Whiskey concept phone, that changes its color to a “shade of whiskey” showing the distance of the person calling you.

This handset packs a full touchscreen display, an 8 megapixel camera and uses its ability to change color like a chameleon, in order to show the distance between people chatting on the phone.
If you’re talking to someone that calls from the same town, the phone will display a “mild whiskey” color, but if you’re getting a call from thousands of miles away, LG Cyon Whiskey will change its color drastically, to a darker shade.

Welcome to our world, Unwired View folks! Every now and then, one of our readers asks us if a certain concept phone is for sale and the answer is obviously “NOT”. Now, Unwired View have found out that
LG is readying a pretty hot music phone, the KM900 and did a mockup of the device, which you can check out below.
No problem so far, right? Things got strange, when a British retailer started “selling” the phone, using Unwired View’s mockup…

Beepy.co.uk is the retailer in question, taking pre-orders of the KM900, that seems to work on T-Mobile UK. The handset is available for 85 pounds and it packs 3G, WiFi, a 240 x 400 pixels touchscreen, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headset jack.
Kind of strange to sell something that doesn’t even exist yet, isn’t it?

Tokyo Designers Week hosted a couple of neat phone mockups this weekend, as the winners of the Mobile Design Contest organized by
LG Japan decided to show the world physical versions of their ideas. The “Planet Phone” (below) won the competition and you can admire the concept devie below, a circular clamshell device with many LEDs incorporated in its top part.

Each of the small lights you see on the Planet Phone is a friend and as you contact him/her more often, the corresponding light stays closer to the centre of the screen. The rarer you chat with someone, the closer he’ll get to the edge of the display.
The LG Temperature concept phone (below) has a back made out of tiles, each displaying the name of a contact. You can exchange tiles with your close ones and see them glitter in the color of your friend’s location heat level.

Now how cool is that? Imagine going to a sunny beach and having your amigo call you because his tile glittered smoking red. Or being in Aspen and skiing, while you’re sweaty friend’s tile from California glitters blue.
The next LG concept is the “Ring” (below), a candybar handset with a hole in its lower part. This can be used a rotary dial or the phone’s camera viewfinder. The entire front side of the device is its display.

LG “fbt” comes with a Braille keypad and allows users to send and receive messages, as its back is a Braille display and keypad at the same time. Next is the “Tap” concept (below), a device that looks like a huge light switch and really works like one, as you can switch it off and simply chill out.
Keep in mind that these handsets are only mockups, so you won’t see them in stores too soon.

An Engadget Mobile reader recently received a Verizon survey that mentioned a very interesting mobile phone. The device features a 3 inch touchscreen display and detachable modules, like a keyboard, game pad, stereo speaker and a Wi-Fi module for Internet browsing.
Speculations claim that this might as well be the VX9600, created by LG, for which Verizon took into account a couple of more exotic names like “Phenom”, “Clip” or “Versa”.

This unique device is a hypothetical one, according to the survey, but we know there’s no such thing on the mobile market nowadays. Latest of rumours regarding the mystery device? A November launch date… How about that?

You might have heard the name of the young designer
Andrew Seunghyun Kim before, as he became famous for
this concept, but the brilliant young man is at it again and now we’re introduced to the neoKLASSIC concept phone. This is an LG Cyon product that draws its inspiration from Korean culture and LG Electronics history.

The concept handset is destined to work on SK Telecom’s HSDPA network (3.5G) and your eyes are instantly drawn to the device’s semi mirror finish on the display or the wood grain hidden under the glass coating. Notice the floral LED indicator as a touch of finesse and know that the metallic back side of the handset is used as a DMB receiver.
neoKLASSIC’s docking station is inspired from Korean architecture, while the phone itself is a monument of health protection, as it’s covered with silver nano particles that make it germ free. Passing on to specs, the concept phone comes with a 3.5 inch AMOLED display, a 4 megapixel camera plus a secondary 2 megapixel camera for video calls.

The built-in memory is 8GB, plus 16GB Flash SSD, while the rest of the features include Bluetooth, WiFi, voice conferencing, navigation and mobile banking. One of the best concept phones I’ve seen in the last months… from an incredibly young and talented designer.

Boy Genius Report managed to get their hands on a photo of the unknown till now
LG Xenon. Turns out that it’s an AT&T branded handset that will be available at Christmas time. Hmm… a slider device with a QWERTY keypad a day after the T-Mobile G1 announcement? Do I smell rivalry?

A quick look at LG Xenon’s specs reveals the presence of a 3 megapixel camera, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, an accelerometer and a 950 mAh battery. Add the usual Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 to that, plus a proximity sensor and 100 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot that adds another 16GB in the mix.
LG Xenon also incorporates a 240 x 480, 2.8″ LCD display and an EMP U330 Lite chipset, all of these “hidden” inside a 105.5 x 53.5 x 15.8 mm shell.

Some are waiting for the Chocolate 3, while others crave for the
LG Synthesis, but some of us would rather take a peek at this hot Shine follow-up. The LG Shine 2 concept comes with a huge screen, original button placement and fashionable chrome accents.
This ultra thin device should have at least a 5 megapixel camera, as for the specs we can see, there’s surely an improved scroll button in there.
