We’re waiting for a Windows Phone Nokia model so bad right now, that the handset below would just kill competition. The Nokia W97 is sadly a mere concept for now, created by Deviantart member
sidrocks, who did an excellent job.

We can only suppose that Windows Phone 7.1 Mango OS in board and that 5 row QWERTY keyboard looks incredible comfy, reminding me a bit of the days of the Nokia N900. You also get the classic capacitive buttons at the button of the touchscreen (which we guess is it at least 4.3 inches in diagonal).
It’s interesting to also see answer/reject keys on the sides of the normal WP7 capacitive buttons. Give this baby impressive battery life and maybe a way to view the Home screen in Windows Phone in landscape mode and it’ll be huge!

Who better to design a Nokia concept phone than a Finnish man?
Tommy Incrosnatu showed us the incredible Windows Phone 7 design below, that he created with Symbian Anna in mind, at least when it comes to icons. Tommy was not happy with the Metro UI, so he added a bit of Nokia twist to the whole experience.

Hardware keys were dropped, as they were considered to be redundant and easily replaceable with multitouch gestures. The designer claims that the phone concept is pure fiction and we have to give credit where it’s due for the background images: De Vetpan studios – Siebe Warmoeskerken (for the first) and Denis Travin (for the second).
At first glance this handset doesn’t say it’s a WP7 device, but the Nokia presence is felt powerfully, fitting in with what we’ve heard recently, about Microsoft allowing Nokia to customize Windows Phone in any way they like. Great work for Tommy!

How about a concept interface for a change? What you can see below is the creation of Peter, a Nokia fan quoted by
Mynokiablog.com. Well, he made a custom version of Windows Phone 7 for Nokia devices, keeping the basics of the Metro UI, but adding that tiny extra that missed – another dimension.

The Live Tiles have become Live Cubes, with 4 equatorial sides to go through, each with an option of the main Tile available. Peter also envisions Secondary Tiles, that display additional content from the Master Cube and occupy two squares instead of one, or maybe even more, as shown in the image below. There’s an arrow pointing out towards those extra details of the main tile.

And finally, something I thought was really ingenious: a long press on a Live Cube turns the other cubes around it into additional features for the one you pressed. For example, holding the Internet Explorer Mobile pressed reveals cubes around it with bookmarks, pages you visited and other such options. The same probably goes for Zune and your playlists.
This doesn’t change the Metro UI look, but its functionality, so it’s brilliant.

We’re back with mynokiablog’s series of Dream Nokias and this time Windows Phone 7 is involved as well. The device pictured below is the Nokia W6, created by Peter Lackman. Basically, this a Nokia E7 or N8 with a modified version of Windows Phone on it…

Nokia’s Windows Phone that’s pictured here uses custom background wallpapers, a revamped set of tiles, that change when you select a certain theme. The App view has also been reorganized and there’s a useful AZ for finding applications easier than on the current installment of WP7.
Collapsible category bars are included and you can change themes between Blue Leather and Summer, as shown below. Does this sound Nokia enough for you?

Here we are again with a Windows Phone concept, this time one created by Deviantart member
Pap3rclips. This flagship Windows Phone device uses a 1GHz Tegra 250 CPU, 1GB RAM and 32/64GB of memory. The phone weighs 5.2 ounces and it’s 0.39 inch thick.

The display on board is a 4 inch screen, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and relying on IPS Panel/LED backlit LCD technology. Its resolution is 720 x 1200 pixels and if I were to guess a maker for this unit, Nokia would probably be it. This handset has something that screams N Series about it.
It could be the camera at the back, with its 8 megapixel sensor, 1080p HD Capture (30fps) and Xenon flash. Which phone maker do you think could produce this smartphone? Is this yet another Nokia Windows Phone 7 device?

It’s been raining Nokia Windows Phone 7 concepts lately and the device below is not an exception. Dubbed the Nokia 7, this phone was created by Long-Nong Huang and it comes with an Intel Atom Z520 CPU at 1.33GHz, plus a 4 inch Super LCD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

On the back of this WP7 slider there’s a 14 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and support for 1080p capture. Nokia 7 supports LTE 4G connectivity, mini HDMI and up to 32GB of extra memory via SDHC card. There’s also a 1600 mAh battery on board and a full QWERTY keyboard. Could this be the revival of the Nokia N9?

Nokia kicked off Mobile World Congress 2011 with anti-Android talks and confirmed that the Engadget-leaked
Windows Phone 7 concept was real. Once again we saw some Nokia Microsoft phone designs, for you all to criticize or admire. Is this what we’re to expect from the Finns in the following months?

Honestly, these devices look like Samsung Corby units to me… Will they fail? Their specs better be good…

We’re back with yet another
Nokia Windows Phone 7 concept, following yesterday’s design. This is the Nokia ARES, available below and packing very appealing specs, that include a 12MP autofocus Xenon camera and a 4 inch 16/9 screen. This was initially a MeeGo concept, but the switch to WP7 was made recently, for obvious reasons.

Nokia ARES adopts a convex profile, aluminum body and a clean design, with a single physical button (that will change in future designs to match Microsoft’s required number of buttons). The device also includes a microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot (not something you usually find on a WP7 handset).
HDMI and the camera button are lacking, because of the design challenges, but they might make it to future concepts. What do you think? Any feedback is welcome either here, or on the source site.

Today’s shocker (or not so much) was the announcement that Nokia will be working with Microsoft and focusing on Windows Phone 7 for its handsets. Well, not so many hours after that, Engadget found a nifty series of Nokia concept phones running said OS. Apparently, these designs are made by Nokia and Microsoft.

As you can see they borrow heavily from the N8 and C7 Symbian phones and use brightly colored cases. The usual WP7 buttons are present, at the lower side, below the display, that should be between 3.5 inch a 4.3 inch in diagonal (we suppose). We have found out today from Nokia and Microsoft officials that phones like the N8 and E7 won’t receive any WP7 upgrade, so one can only dream.

Antoine Brieux is back with his
NAK designs, this time through a device made in partnership with Pocketnow. The handset uses the specifications of Brandom Miniman and bears the name of Pocketnow P1. The main appeals of the handset are its dual core CPU and the incorporated pico projector.

We’re dealing with a 1.5GHz dual core smartphone, with 1GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal memory. The screen on the device is a 3.5 inch AMOLED multitouch unit, while at the back you’ll find an 8MP camera with dual LED flash. WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and 4G round up the connectivity options, as for the OS, Windows Phone 7 was chosen.
HDMI and a portrait QWERTY keyboard rounds up the specs list of this appealing smartphone, that manages to stay at 10mm thickness. This is a bit like the Dell Venue Pro, only without the sliding part and adopting a candybar design instead. As far as the projector is concerned, it uses a LED lamp, projecting the equivalent of a 30 inch display up to ten feet away. One can only dream…
