Joseph Dumary joins the series of designers who showed us
Xbox-related ideas this week, so we get to see his beautiful Xbox Dream concept. Although not portable, this device is too hot not to be showcased on our site. It supports Kinect Visio and chatting in high def with over 6 people at the same time.

Multitasking is also supported, so you can do multiple things at once (listen to music, watch videos online, resume a game). Cloud storage is also an option for the Xbox Dream concept console, that uses the DP Connect technology to get rid of wires and reach your TV wirelessly (max distance 7.5 meters).
Up to 10 TV sets can be connected to a single console via wireless, so it’ll be interesting if you have a neighbor with a TV that’s DLNA compatible. YouTube and social networking also join the feature list for a glossy console that’s close to perfection.

[Thanks Joseph]

So many designers thought about a portable Xbox, but this is the first time I’ve heard of an Xbox Phone. Created by Long-Nong Huang, the Xbox Mobile aka the Xphone comes with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen and the usual Xbox gamepad turned into a sliding keyboard.

The device uses a 1GHz CPU and runs Windows Phone 7, as you could have predicted. We saw the Kin Phone flopping, the Courier dying, but this project would surely get something good on the market.

If you’ve been swept off your feet by the Sony NGP quad core console, here’s something better: a portable Xbox. Created by Camille Jean (cjepic86@gmail.com) and dubbed Xbox Mini, this concept includes an Xbox pushbutton that when pressed down unlocks the sliding component.

The device will open up like some sort of sci-fi flower (we’re feeling poetic today) and it’ll reveal the bright screen inside, while allowing easy access to the control system. The only thing we don’t love that much is the screen is a bit tiny for today’s standards, but I’ll live with that, if the console becomes real and I get to buy it.
Anything else you’d wish to change about this device?

Those of you who fell in love with Windows Phone 7 are certainly thinking how great the OS would look on a tablet. Well, Long-Nong Huang takes the idea further and creates the Windows tab 7, a tablet that runs WP7 on a 1.4GHz CPU.

This is a LTE 4G device with a 10.1 inch display and a Microsoft branding, meaning that they’ll also handle the hardware (or simply use a tablet maker and apply their branding). Of course, this is a mere concept, with a front videocall camera and maybe as little internal memory as the WP7 handsets, to make the cloud solutions appealing to us.

My apologies to Jozef Kocúr, the creator of the Windows Slate 7, which turns out to be an interface not a tablet concept, as we claimed
here. Now, we get to see more pictures of the customized UI and we have to say that MeeGo and WebOS 2.0 don’t have nothing on this beauty.

Windows Slate 7 brings a bit of Win 7, a bit of Windows Phone 7, some iOS and a touch of Sense UI. Tiles and horizontal scrolling are very much favored, as you can see. Android 3.0 would have to be rock solid to win us over if this UI becomes real. Definitely loving that weather section and the music player, in pure Zune style.

Jozef Kocúr designed a very appealing tablet called the Windows Slate 7, a device doesn’t seem to bear any other branding than the one of Microsoft. This internally made slate could be running a modified version of Windows Phone 7, as shown here, since this is certainly not the Windows 7 desktop version we all know.

We wouldn’t mind if this were the Windows 8 tablet that some people were mentioning as CES 2011 material… Josef promised to reveal details and specs in the following days and we’re certainly hoping for dual core and 10.1 inch action over here…

After failing to deliver with the Kin, Pink and Courier projects, Microsoft is brainstorming again and it has already starting working on something called “Menlo”. This project involves a high end mobile device, that’s showcased below, in prototype form.

The handset comes with 4.1 inch capacitive touch display (800 x 480 pixels) and it runs Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2. Its feature list also includes a Bosch BMA150 accelerometer (3 axis) and a barometer (Bosch BMP085 digital pressure sensor). There’s also a nifty software for this platform: Greenfield, used to retrace the user’s footsteps to his car, based on sensors.
Let’s hope everything goes OK with this project…

In case you’re a frequent visitor of our site, you must have noticed the
Windows Mobile 8 interface concept, created by Remort1. This Esato board member showed us two of this ideas of the UI of the future OS, applied to a Sony Ericsson XPERIA-like device.
This time, we have a look at the media playback menu, complete with browsing, artwork and options.

We already know that Apple is readying
a tablet for those MacBook and iPhone fans, while Microsoft has already leaked its similar product, the
Courier tablet. In case you’re worried about having to use a keyboard connected to the portable device in order to be able to write decently, worry not, as Microsoft has got it covered.

What you can see above is a Microsoft multitouch keyboard concept, allowing the user to write efficiently by tapping the display. The technology was recently filed as a patent by the Redmond giant and it turns out that the virtual keyboard will appear on screen whenever the user wants to write something, no matter where the hands are placed on the display.
This provides efficiency and huge user-friendliness, plus you won’t have to look at the screen, specially if the virtual keypad follows your hands. Strangely enough, there seems to be no letter “G” on the keyboard pictured above. Does Microsoft hate Google that much?

If you thought that
Microsoft Courier, the tablet prototype we’ve shown you yesterday was bad, wait till you see the handsets that Microsoft has readied for us! Yes, it’s true, the Project Pink phones have leaked online, the Turtle and Pure handsets being available in the following images.

The devices are made in cooperation with Sharp, using the Danger and Sidekick expertise, which is not necessarily a good thing. Turtle looks just like a Palm Pre on steroids, while Microsoft Pure is an average slider, resembling Motorola CLIQ. Notice that the phones look plasticky and that they feature rounded edges, probably for a more fun approach.
Rumour has it that these devices will provide support for Zune services, but don’t be surprised if there’s also some Xbox action in there.
