The Nokia Pulse Projector concept is a project aimed at enriching the multimedia features of a Nokia phone, by turning the handset into the remote of a pocket projector. Designed by Miika Mahonen, this gadget combines a LED projector with a NXT speaker with support for Dolby surround into a multimedia device.
It’ll also come with Pulse software and Bluetooth connectivity.
Nokia Pulse uses DLP technology and supports a native resolution of 1280×768 pixels and a 1500:1 contrast ratio, for very crisp images. Picture size ranges from 15 inches (diagonal) to 60 inches (at 7.87 feet) and the projector uses LED light technology with 1000 lumens of brightness and 16.7 million colors.
This project is very likely to be made into a real product and I’m sure that in a year’s time at most, we’ll see it announced officially.

We showed you Nokia 5800 XpressMusic back in the days when it was a rumor called “Tube”, as it surfaced in the movie The Dark Knight. Now, its successor also makes an appearance in a brand new movie, Star Trek, as young James Kirk’s modern and futuristic phone.
Could the handset in the short scene below really be Nokia 5900?
Last time we saw (or thought we saw) a future Nokia phone in a movie, it was in Echelon Conspiracy, with the whole Nokia Aeon thing. Now we’re wondering if the beautiful full touch device with a mirror finish and chromed edges is really the future Nokia XpressMusic handset or just a concept created for Star Trek.

Here’s a pretty good looking Nokia N Series concept phone, created by Jared Thompson, who wanted to illustrate 3 varying viewpoints from all around the phone. The designer claims that this concept comes with the current N series keypad and it should appeal to business customers, who own a BlackBerry and would like to switch to a Nokia device.
This device would be equally great if it was a dual slider, or if it had a touchscreen display, plus the above-mentioned keyboard, but we’ll let the designers decide. What do you think?

Yes, you’ve read it right: Nokia Aeon might be the handset that appears a couple of times in the new motion picture Echelon Conspiracy. In case you haven’t got the time and patience to watch the movie, we provide some shots from it, showing the mystery device and there’s even a trailer featuring the phone below.
This handset, known as GZT 650 resembles Nokia Aeon very much and its front side is divided into 2 segments, just like on the famous Nokia concept. The two segments are separated by a metallic stripe and the upper side of the display is transparent, like the keypad of the LG GD900 phone.
During Echelon Conspiracy there’s a scene where the device’s screen is shown and we can get a glimpse of its options: messaging, mail, search, calendar, a weather app, a browser, stocks and settings. Since Nokia 5800 XpressMusic surfaced in “The Dark Knight“, could GZT 650 be an upcoming Nokia touchscreen phone as well?
Don’t forget to check out the movie’s trailer below (bad movie though):

Fabien Nauroy has a beautiful concept to show us all, Nokia E97, inspired by paper mail. “Where’s the inspiration?” you might ask. Well, the screen of this handset can be detached from its body, just like taking a paper out of an envelope.
The concept phone’s screen is based on E-ink technology and it’ll be very easy to share with your friends. If you want to show everyone a cool video or a photo, you can simply detach the display and show the content, without having to worry about storage space, because the screen uses a 4 or 8GB memory stick to store data just like an USB Flash drive.
Nokia E97′s screen can also be used like a photo frame on your desk, once it’s connected to the small USB base. This is probably the best Nokia concept I’ve seen in years, so congratulations Fabien for such a great idea!

Designer Sebastian Müller has caught a glimpse of the future, together with Nokia Research Center and created the Nokia Nia concept, a robotic communication device that’s very intuitive and handles all of your virtual interactions. Replacing your secretary, the device takes care of the user’s emails, text messages, calls and news.
Nokia Nia supports face recognition and provides services customized to its user’s needs, since it’s based on visual tags that increase the level of customization. This gadget will charge itself thanks to a “charging shelter”, but the main appeal of the concept is the ways you can interact with it: depending on your distance from the device, it’ll go from gesture control, to voice and touchscreen interaction.
When you enter touchscreen mode, you’ll be able to use this “robot” like a tablet PC. Nia is basically a hybrid between a robot, a PC, a phone and a RSS system.

Remember the Nokia headphone design competition we informed you about, a couple of months ago? Well, it ended a while back and we can now see the first products resulting from the challenge.
The winning designers have had their designs turned into real headphones, like the one below, called “I’m Flying” and based on the song “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly.
On the funkier (or maybe creepy) side of things, there’s the crazy headphone set below, inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, another winner of the design competition. Any other design you like and would enjoy seeing in the real life shops?

Well, touchscreen had met low end before, but never under Nokia branding. The Finns only have a high end device (the N97) and a music phone that can be placed on the borderline between high end and mid end, both featuring a touchscreen. But what about low end phones packing such displays?
Here’s the so-called “Nokia Ultra Low Touch” concept, a pretty basic handset with a touchscreen on board.
Notice the presence of a flashlight function and a design that reminds me of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, but somewhat on the “iPod nano” side of things. Real or fake?

Beatmag from Mobile-Review designed a very promising Nokia gaming phone, that strays away from the N-Gage series and looks more like an Internet tablet. Notice the presence of a touchscreen (3.2 or 3.3 inches, 16:9) on the specs list, plus a QWERTY keypad, action buttons (X, Y) and a directional pad.
What’s the deal with that old-school game on the screen? I guess it’s an emulated title of some sort, since the graphics are so last-gen, but the concept device is pretty promising, although it’s a bit too big for our taste.

Nokia N95 8GB is the ultimate smartphone, as it’s got everything one can dream of, except a touchscreen… Not that it misses it too much, but there are a couple of forward-thinking folks out there who imagined the device featuring such a display. Known as beatmag, the designer of Nokia N95 8GB Touch concept did a terrific job, by improving a handset that’s already great.
What other Nokia phone would you add a touchscreen to?
