After the Nokia WP7 unit leak yesterday codenamed
Sea Ray, it’s time for professional Photoshop to take over and reveal their skills. Thus, they created the following mockup, showing the Sea Ray model. The idea comes from downrightwireless.com.

This model is the identical twin of the Nokia N9, except for the fact that it comes with a hardware camera button and that the LED flash is placed somewhere else (above the lens). Also, the Metro UI replaces the MeeGo interface and we’re really curios to see where the Search, Back and Start buttons from Windows Phone have gone…
Maybe these will be left out especially for Nokia, or maybe they will be shown on the screen, through some special lower area.

After the beautiful
Nokia N9 announcement, we also have some interesting rumors and a leak regarding the very first Nokia model with Windows Phone Mango on board. Codenamed Nokia Sea Ray, this unit was shown by Stephen Elop to some Nokia employees, who then leaked the smartphone to the web.

Some think this is a controlled leak, while others expect consequences from Nokia. This model looks a lot like the N9, except for the placement of the LED flash, that’s above the camera. Also, Nokia Sea Ray comes with a hardware camera key, unlike the first MeeGo phone made by the Finns. Well, the N9 was already hot, but now with these tweaks, it seems even hotter.
Compare this to some of the Nokia concepts… What do you think?

Nokia N9 has just been leaked thanks to the guys of Pocketnow, who provide press-like shots of a device codenamed Lannku (or is it Lankku?). This unit might be showcased in just hours during the Nokia Connection 2011 event included in CommunicAsia 2011. Here’s the newcomer:

Rumor has it that the N9 comes with a touchscreen candybar design, ships in pink, black and blue and packs an 8 megapixel camera. No QWERTY keyboard here, but what we do have is a qHD resolution and the fact that the model runs MeeGo Harmattan. This night just got more exciting. Are we witnessing the promised Nokia disruption of the market?
Feel free to comment below? We have 4 hours left till the big Nokia speeches begin here.

Matthew Richards recently showed us a new Nokia concept phone with Windows Phone Mango OS on board, the W3 model. Nokia W3 has the appeal of a modern smartphone, because it comes with a dual core processor, a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss technology and more.

This device packs a HDMI port, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot (extra 32GB) and a 2 megapixel front camera. All of the services specific to Nokia (Maps, Store, Music) are integrated into the handset, with some of them using a specialized Nokia Hub in Windows Phone 7. As far as the design is concerned, the call and end call touch buttons are separated by a touch area with customizable features.
This is an interesting model that’s certainly less bulky than some other Windows Phone concepts I’ve seen.
[Thanks Matthew]

Supposedly Nokia might enter its new future from next week, when the Nokia Connection 2011 event begins. Well, the Finns might even reveal something like the device pictured below, a Windows Phone model. What’s certain is that we’re promised a model that will “disrupt the market”.

I’m not really sure if this exact mockup has been on Concept Phones before, but it certainly looks nice enough to get a repeat, if it’s the case. And now some speculations on the hardware of the mockup: 4 inch display (AMOLED), 8MP camera, Windows Phone Mango, 16GB of internal memory and Nokia customization.
The name? Maybe Nokia W8?

We’re waiting for a Windows Phone Nokia model so bad right now, that the handset below would just kill competition. The Nokia W97 is sadly a mere concept for now, created by Deviantart member
sidrocks, who did an excellent job.

We can only suppose that Windows Phone 7.1 Mango OS in board and that 5 row QWERTY keyboard looks incredible comfy, reminding me a bit of the days of the Nokia N900. You also get the classic capacitive buttons at the button of the touchscreen (which we guess is it at least 4.3 inches in diagonal).
It’s interesting to also see answer/reject keys on the sides of the normal WP7 capacitive buttons. Give this baby impressive battery life and maybe a way to view the Home screen in Windows Phone in landscape mode and it’ll be huge!

How about a tablet-like Nokia smartphone, dubbed the E8 and bringing back the good old times of the Communicator? If that sounds appealing to you, you’ll probably love the Nokia E8 pictured below and created by Ibrahim, that detailed his view in the comments on this article.

We’re dealing with the mockup of a device that packs a 4.5 inch capacitive AMOLED display with 960 x 640 pixels of resolution. As far as connectivity goes, you get GSM/WCDMA/4G and at the back you’ll find a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flash. There’s also a full QWERTY keyboard in there, with dedicated function buttons.
The CPU of choice for Nokia E8 is a 1.5GHz ARM Cortex dual core processor accompanied by 64MB of internal memory and 512MB SDRAM. MeeGo OS 1.0 or Symbian S^4 will handle the software side of things. Considering the love that people had for the Communicator series, this device would certainly make it big.

Hardi Kõvamees is the creator of the Nokia E11 device, a touch and type handset that might as well be the next direction that the Finns are taking, as they wait for Windows Phone 7. This device combines an unusual physical keyboard (at least for Nokia) with a screen that I assume is about 2.8 inches in diagonal.

The result is the Nokia E11 design, that supposedly comes with a pretty good camera, maybe an 8 megapixel one. A front camera, 8GB of internal memory and this handset would be perfect. Also, the price should be around 150 euros, if possible…

Tommy Incrosnatu, the same guy who created this incredible
Nokia concept phone, also designed the following device that you see below. He teamed up with artists Oula Runila and Miika Herranen, while the background photo belongs to Shawn Palmquist. As you can see, we have a very modern smartphone interface right here, with simplified graphics.

This concept was created in order to showcase the beauty of Finnish nature and the result will be a 60 second TV clip, according to Tommy. We can only imagine that we’re seeing here is a very beautiful Nokia phone design of the future, with an UI that reminds me a bit of MeeGo and a Home menu that’s a little bit like the one in HTC Sense.
The widgets are pretty interesting in this interface and while the device looks like the HTC HD7 a tiny bit, we can’t help but imagine it to be Nokia smartphone with Windows Phone 7 on board…

The series of Nokia concepts continues, this time with a device called Nokia N8-01, created by BlackIdea. The handset comes with realistic specs, that include a 4 inch Clear Black Display with Super AMOLED technology and Dragontrail Glass protection.

Nokia N8-01 runs Symbian^3 with PR3.0/Belle and its most impressive feature is the 16 megapixel camera with autofocus, Carl Zeiss Optics and True Zoom technology. There’s also a Xenon flash in the mix, plus a 3.2 megapixel camera at the front with Facelock feature. Hardware also includes a dual core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 1GB ROM, 32GB storage and a microSD card slot.
HDMI and Dolby Digital Plus round up the specs list. Nothing new about the design of this Nokia model, but maybe we’ll learn more about the newcomers during tomorrow’s Nokia event in Athens.
