Supposedly Nokia might enter its new future from next week, when the Nokia Connection 2011 event begins. Well, the Finns might even reveal something like the device pictured below, a Windows Phone model. What’s certain is that we’re promised a model that will “disrupt the market”.

I’m not really sure if this exact mockup has been on Concept Phones before, but it certainly looks nice enough to get a repeat, if it’s the case. And now some speculations on the hardware of the mockup: 4 inch display (AMOLED), 8MP camera, Windows Phone Mango, 16GB of internal memory and Nokia customization.
The name? Maybe Nokia W8?

We’re waiting for a Windows Phone Nokia model so bad right now, that the handset below would just kill competition. The Nokia W97 is sadly a mere concept for now, created by Deviantart member
sidrocks, who did an excellent job.

We can only suppose that Windows Phone 7.1 Mango OS in board and that 5 row QWERTY keyboard looks incredible comfy, reminding me a bit of the days of the Nokia N900. You also get the classic capacitive buttons at the button of the touchscreen (which we guess is it at least 4.3 inches in diagonal).
It’s interesting to also see answer/reject keys on the sides of the normal WP7 capacitive buttons. Give this baby impressive battery life and maybe a way to view the Home screen in Windows Phone in landscape mode and it’ll be huge!

How about a tablet-like Nokia smartphone, dubbed the E8 and bringing back the good old times of the Communicator? If that sounds appealing to you, you’ll probably love the Nokia E8 pictured below and created by Ibrahim, that detailed his view in the comments on this article.

We’re dealing with the mockup of a device that packs a 4.5 inch capacitive AMOLED display with 960 x 640 pixels of resolution. As far as connectivity goes, you get GSM/WCDMA/4G and at the back you’ll find a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flash. There’s also a full QWERTY keyboard in there, with dedicated function buttons.
The CPU of choice for Nokia E8 is a 1.5GHz ARM Cortex dual core processor accompanied by 64MB of internal memory and 512MB SDRAM. MeeGo OS 1.0 or Symbian S^4 will handle the software side of things. Considering the love that people had for the Communicator series, this device would certainly make it big.

Hardi Kõvamees is the creator of the Nokia E11 device, a touch and type handset that might as well be the next direction that the Finns are taking, as they wait for Windows Phone 7. This device combines an unusual physical keyboard (at least for Nokia) with a screen that I assume is about 2.8 inches in diagonal.

The result is the Nokia E11 design, that supposedly comes with a pretty good camera, maybe an 8 megapixel one. A front camera, 8GB of internal memory and this handset would be perfect. Also, the price should be around 150 euros, if possible…

Tommy Incrosnatu, the same guy who created this incredible
Nokia concept phone, also designed the following device that you see below. He teamed up with artists Oula Runila and Miika Herranen, while the background photo belongs to Shawn Palmquist. As you can see, we have a very modern smartphone interface right here, with simplified graphics.

This concept was created in order to showcase the beauty of Finnish nature and the result will be a 60 second TV clip, according to Tommy. We can only imagine that we’re seeing here is a very beautiful Nokia phone design of the future, with an UI that reminds me a bit of MeeGo and a Home menu that’s a little bit like the one in HTC Sense.
The widgets are pretty interesting in this interface and while the device looks like the HTC HD7 a tiny bit, we can’t help but imagine it to be Nokia smartphone with Windows Phone 7 on board…

The series of Nokia concepts continues, this time with a device called Nokia N8-01, created by BlackIdea. The handset comes with realistic specs, that include a 4 inch Clear Black Display with Super AMOLED technology and Dragontrail Glass protection.

Nokia N8-01 runs Symbian^3 with PR3.0/Belle and its most impressive feature is the 16 megapixel camera with autofocus, Carl Zeiss Optics and True Zoom technology. There’s also a Xenon flash in the mix, plus a 3.2 megapixel camera at the front with Facelock feature. Hardware also includes a dual core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 1GB ROM, 32GB storage and a microSD card slot.
HDMI and Dolby Digital Plus round up the specs list. Nothing new about the design of this Nokia model, but maybe we’ll learn more about the newcomers during tomorrow’s Nokia event in Athens.

We’ve seen the
Nokia X10 Symbian Anna prototype here and now we have the same device, but with a different OS. Nokia W10 runs Windows Phone 7.5, supports quad band connectivity and 4G LTE. It’s got quad stereo speakers and a Super AMOLED Plus display with a 4.5 inch diagonal and a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

TV out is also on board via HDMI, as well as a 15MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Dual Xenon flash and full HD 1080p video capture at 30 fps. There’s also a front 5MP camera with Xenon flash and face detection. The CPU on the Nokia W10 is a quad-core 2GHz unit, more than enough to run Windows Phone, to be honest.
32GB of storage, 2GB of ROM and 2GB of RAM are the memory on this device, plus a microSD slot with support for up to 64GB of storage. Would you prefer to use this device with Windows Phone 7.5 on board or a future version of Symbian Anna/Belle?

Shihuzaan has created a brand new
Nokia concept, the C9 pictured below that runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS. This handset looks a bit like the iPhone 4, or better said the iPhone 5, considering its tiny bezels and large screen. Some compare it to the Samsung Galaxy handset, but you’ll be the judge of that.

As far as specs are concerned, this handset uses a 4 inch CBD AMOLED display, a quad core A9 CPU and an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics. There’s also a 2 megapixel camera upfront and the Ovi Store on the phone is loaded into the Metro interface, as well as Ovi Maps and Opera Mobile 11. You can get a tile view, classic for WP7 and an app list, that’s already classic on Android.
What do you think? Would an iPhone-like Windows Phone 7 device made by Nokia be a hit?

Nando Sang Putra created two beautiful
Nokia prototypes, the Nokia W10 and the X10, both shown below. Today we’re only dealing with the first one, that runs Symbian Anna or maybe its follow-up Belle. The handsets are exactly the same physically, with minor specs differences however.

The Nokia X10 concept supports quad band connectivity, 4G-LTE, packs quad-stereo speakers and a Super AMOLED plus Clear Black Display with 4.5 inch diagonal and 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The screen is protected by the Dragontrail Glass Display technology and the specs list of this monster also includes a 15MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual Xenon flash and geotagging.
The camera records in full HD 1080p at 30 fps and another stunning feature is the 2GHz quad core CPU inside the smartphone, accompanied by 32GB of storage, 2GB of ROM, 2GB of RAM and a great GPU. Quad-core phones don’t seem that futuristic now that the Sony NGP quad-core console was announced, so it’s only a matter of time till some company takes the Tegra 3 direction…

Who better to design a Nokia concept phone than a Finnish man?
Tommy Incrosnatu showed us the incredible Windows Phone 7 design below, that he created with Symbian Anna in mind, at least when it comes to icons. Tommy was not happy with the Metro UI, so he added a bit of Nokia twist to the whole experience.

Hardware keys were dropped, as they were considered to be redundant and easily replaceable with multitouch gestures. The designer claims that the phone concept is pure fiction and we have to give credit where it’s due for the background images: De Vetpan studios – Siebe Warmoeskerken (for the first) and Denis Travin (for the second).
At first glance this handset doesn’t say it’s a WP7 device, but the Nokia presence is felt powerfully, fitting in with what we’ve heard recently, about Microsoft allowing Nokia to customize Windows Phone in any way they like. Great work for Tommy!
