Nokia Tab Concept Tablet Design Is Inspired by the N9 Handset and Sony Tablet S Loading ... Cameron McKinnon is a name I haven’t heard before, but also a name I’ll remember when Nokia finally launches its Windows 8 tablet. Cameron is the creator of the beautiful Nokia Tab concept tablet shown below, running Windows 8 on top of an ARM based processor. This device is inspired by the Nokia N9 phone and by the Sony Tablet S, according to the designer.

Nokia Tab Concept Tablet Design Is Inspired by the N9 Handset and Sony Tablet S

Nokia Tab uses a massive 14.3 inch display, a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lens, plus Microsoft Kinect motion capture support through a front camera. The gadget is 12mm in thickness, it has 1GB of memory, a 64GB or 128GB HDD and it will be available in WiFi or WiFi + 4G models, if it’s ever made. It also has a SD card slot, a SIM card slot, USB 3.0 and micro USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. Nokia’s concept tablet runs Windows 8 ARM Edition and its design also involves ergonomic curves for comfortable holding in portrait and landscape mode.

There’s also a power button with LED light in the mix, a camera button and the screen is curved making Windows 8 gestures more natural. The screen has a slope so that it’s easier to type on it and the bulkier side makes this look a bit like the Sony Tablet S. What do you think of this unique Nokia Windows 8 tablet? Would you buy one?

HTC Sensation EX II 5.5 Inch Phone – Probably the Only Smartphone Bigger Than a Tablet

HTC Sensation EX II 5.5 Inch Phone Probably the Only Smartphone Bigger Than a Tablet Loading ... HTC Sensation EX II is a HTC concept phone created by Maika Sylva, from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The designer imagined a smartphone with an incredible 5.5 inch diagonal screen, that’s actually bigger than some tablets out there such as the Dell Streak and even the Samsung Galaxy Note.

HTC Sensation EX II 5.5 Inch Phone Probably the Only Smartphone Bigger Than a Tablet

HTC Sensation EX I comes Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense UI, probably in version 4.0, although the designer didn’t specify that. The 5.5 inch HTC features a Super LCD qHD screen with 1200 x 675 pixel resolution, a main 10 megapixel camera with autofocus and a 2 megapixel front camera. The main cam is also capable of 1080p video recording, if you’re wondering.

Other specs of this futuristic HTC include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM and a Li-Ion 1730 mAh battery. The brain of the handset is a 2GHz dual core Qualcomm processor. As far as design goes, the phone keeps the classic HTC Sensation looks, but expands the front section. You know what would be cool? Having all the front area and I mean ALL be one single huge display, with the Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons also becoming part of the screen and allowing for more video viewing space.

Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, the First of a Series of Conceptual Designs

Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, the First of a Series of Conceptual Designs Loading ... Alexander Black just sent me an email with his new initiative, that involves a series of conceptual phone designs. The first of them is the Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, that’s pictured below. This device uses a huge 4.7 inch qHD touchscreen, that reminds of some hot HTC phones such as the Titan and the Sensation XL.

Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, the First of a Series of Conceptual Designs

Also, this phone comes with a quad core processor, probably an Exynos unit or maybe even Tegra 3 and its OS is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s also a 2100 mAh battery on board and I have to say that this device looks a bit like the Samsung Galaxy S II, maybe with a bit of design borrowed from HTC. There’s also a 5 megapixel camera on board, at the front, probably for videocall usage. At the back there’s a main 10 megapixel camera, that’s most likely 1080p video capture capable.

The designer of the Samsung Asteroid concept says that this device will rely on solar power at some level and also that it will have an Advanced Battery Mode, that will rely on the same solar energy. With all the quad core phones coming at MWC 2012, is there room for one more from Samsung? Rumors say that the Galaxy S III will actually be a dual core unit, but a 2GHz one…

Nokia Windows Phone Concepts, by Shaik Imaduddin: Here’s Nokia Lumia 850 (Video)

Nokia Windows Phone Concepts, by Shaik Imaduddin: Heres Nokia Lumia 850 (Video) Loading ... Shaik Imaduddin sent us a couple of Nokia Windows Phone concepts, that are shown in the video below. There’s also a pic he sent us, the one of a device he calls the Nokia Lumia 850. It reminds me a bit of a larger Nokia Lumia 800 or the Nokia Lumia 900 if you want, with a touch of Samsung Omnia 7.

Nokia Windows Phone Concepts, by Shaik Imaduddin: Heres Nokia Lumia 850 (Video)

This is a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device that probably packs a 4.3 inch display, a 1.4GHz single core processor and an 8 megapixel camera at the back. There’s also a camera button in here, on the side and the layout of the keys is similar to the Lumia 800. Considering the model name, I’m expecting slight upgrades of the handset, maybe in the camera section, maybe in the internal hardware. I see that people commenting on the video below were pretty harsh, which is no way to treat someone who’s just starting designing phones.

The may be angry about the very sharp edges of some of the Windows Phone Nokia concepts, but really… 8 dislikes for the video?! I spotted at least two interesting handsets right here. I’m not saying they’re Ret Dot Design Awards material, but still… maybe some pointers on what the designer did wrong will help. What do you say?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Curve is a Relative of the Xperia Arc With a Big Bottom Loading ... After showing you the first real pics of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD, aka Nozomi, now we have yet another work from Jsus, the same guy who created some appealing Sony Ericsson concepts. This time he seems to have tweaked an Xperia Arc handset, as shown in the following pictures.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Curve is a Relative of the Xperia Arc With a Big Bottom

The front side of the device is totally a Xperia Arc, while the profile shows us a big bump in the lower back area of the phone. This doesn’t look anything like other Sony Ericsson devices, to be honest. Also, those physical buttons below the display seem already antique right now, considering that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich uses virtual buttons under the screen. I also don’t quite understand what that bump is for… It may allow the device to use a bigger battery, stuff in a LTE chip, a bigger camera sensor or who knows what.

It might also be that this model mimics the design of the Sony Tablet S, with a curved area like a folded magazine and a buttons placed in its sides, far from the user’s sight. Or it could just be a real phone, that will be coming soon and it got pictured ahead of time. Which one do you think it is?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD (Nozomi) Live Picture Leaked in Full Scale Loading ... Remember the story with the Sony Ericsson Nozomi leaked live picture? Well, now there’s a REAL live pic of the handset, that’s also called the Xperia Arc HD. The folks of GSMArena.com have managed to score them, for our delight. We’re dealing here with a Gingerbread handset that packs a 4.3 inch LCD display with HD resolution, joining the ranks of 720p phones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD (Nozomi) Live Picture Leaked in Full Scale

There’s also a 12 megapixel camera on board, with full HD video recording, according to an inside source. Also, as far as hardware goes, we get a dual core 1.5GHz Scorpion processor and the already famous Adreno 220 GPU. The Xperia Arc HD will also get a HDMI port, that will make 1080p playback a breeze on your HDTV. The phone will lack a microSD card slot, so you’ll have to do with its 16/32GB of storage.

1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth and a microSIM card slot complete the specs list of this smartphone. Also, the tipster says that this Xperia model will come a non removable battery and we’ve heard that the product might be unveiled at CES 2012, or maybe MWC 2012. I’m still waiting for a quad core Xperia at this point…

Nexus Black Concept Relies on Nvidia Wayne Processing, Coming in 2012 Loading ... If the Galaxy Nexus doesn’t do it for you, then let’s have a look at the fourth Google Nexus phone, in concept phase. Nexus Black is the creation of Deviantart user bharathp666, who did a terrific job with this design. Recently I heard some rumors that the new Nexus would actually be Motorola material and that it would be called the Motorola RAZR Nexus… Could it be real?

Nexus Black Concept Relies on Nvidia Wayne Processing, Coming in 2012

Back to the Nexus Black, this phone relies on the Nvidia Wayne 2GHz quad core processor and features a 1200 x 720 pixel AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. There’s also a 12.1 megapixel camera available at the back, with dual LED flash, shutter control, continuous autofocus and 1080p video capture at 30 fps. Image stabilization is pretty much a given and RAW support is also implemented. Upfront of the new Nexus phone of 2012 we find a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus.

HDMI support with 1080p is included in this mix, as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, a proximity sensor, NFC, gyrometer and IR remote transciever. I guess that the Nexus Black will run Android 5.0 Jellybean or maybe Android 4.x in an evolved version. The main disappointment on the Galaxy Nexus was the camera and I see that this model did good on repairing that poor feat of the 2011 device. What do you think about this handset?

HTC CrampX Design is Basically a Bigger HTC Rezound Loading ... How about a fresh HTC concept phone coming from the same HTC Concepts page on Facebook, this time with a new logo? I’m talking about the HTC CrampX phone, that’s pictured below and it’s pretty much a combo between the HTC Rezound and HTC Sensation XL, at least as far as specifications go. This is a very thin 4.7 inch smartphone that runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

HTC CrampX Design is Basically a Bigger HTC Rezound

This Android 4.0 HTC handset comes with a 2GHz dual core processor, a 4.7 inch 720p HD screen and Beats Audio technology. The Sense 3.5 interface is applied on top of Ice Cream Sandwich, although I’d dare to say that HTC Sense 4.0 is required here, since Sense 3.5 doesn’t bring much improvement, as seen on the HTC Rhyme. The classic lock ring is available here on the screen of the device, while its upper side reminds me of the original HTC Sensation, as far as design goes. The capacitive buttons on the bottom seem a bit too close to the edge to be comfortable, though…

The back side looks like the HTC Sensation XL and a bit like the one of the HTC Titan, if I were to make comparisons. That’s pretty cool, but I sure hope that the case is not as weak as the one on the Sensation XL or that nasty thing like a shell on the Sensation and Sensation XE. You might not know this, but that huge shell case caused death grip…

Sony Ericsson Xperia Prisma a Monolithic Block of Technology Loading ... Does this Xperia concept phone look like a monolith or what? The Sony Ericsson Xperia Prisma was created by Maika Sylva, from Rotterdam, Netherlands and while it may not be the most beautiful design, at least it’s original. A bit too wide for my taste, this handset also has some modern specs, that you can read below.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Prisma a Monolithic Block of Technology

Xperia Prisma comes with a 1.4GHz processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS, a display with an 800 x 1000 pixel resolution and a chassis that’s 13mm thick. There’s also a 10 megapixel camera on board and support for 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. The device weighs 140 grams and comes with the usual 3.5mm audio jack.

The classic capacitive Android buttons are on the sharp cut lower side of the phone, that stands out from the entire design. This look like more of an Xperia Mini series of device, so it may be the small and resilient kind, like the Xperia Active. The interface looks nice, but it seems that the image has been dragged and pulled to fit the screen, which is not exactly top notch editing. Now, you have your say about this Sony Ericsson concept…

HTC Lion EX 5 Inch 720p Display Device is a Samsung Galaxy Note Rival Loading ... HTC has yet to release a 5 inch device, as far as I know, so there’s no rival for the Samsung Galaxy Note just yet. That unless you count the HTC Lion EX concept, a device that I found on the HTC Concepts Facebook page. This beautiful and very thin slate has a unique feature, that allows it to measure the temperature of its surroundings.

HTC Lion EX 5 Inch 720p Display Device is a Samsung Galaxy Note Rival

HTC Lion EX is a quad core 2.5GHz handset with a Qualcomm S4 processor, HSPA+ connectivity and a 5 inch 720p HD Gorilla Glass display. There’s also Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0 on board, as well as WiFi b/g/n and 60 GHz connectivity. NFC and two new functions, uTemperature and uSlide are also in the mix here.

The first one measures temperature, while the second one I haven’t quite figured out yet. THe Lion branding seems to be heading for a series, in the view of the designer of this tablet/phone. Since there’s a Phone feature shown on the screen I can imagine this is the same sort of gizmo as the Galaxy Note, part phone, part tablet. I wonder if the HTC Scribe technology and stylus are used here… since that would make sense, considering their success on the HTC Flyer.
