Xperia Tab7 Light 7 Inch Tablet Is Actually Worth the Effort Loading ... Every tablet maker seems to have lost focus on the user experience and they only want to copy/rival the iPad… How about a fresh new tablet design from Andro Gama? He shows us the Xperia Light (Tab7) concept, a 7 inch tablet that also serves as a larger Walkman media player.

Xperia Tab7 Light 7 Inch Tablet Is Actually Worth the Effort

This Sony Ericsson tablet has got Office apps, e-book reading software and a super thin design. This Xperia concept comes with 3D surround sound and the Bravia Mobile Engine technology, plus, as a bonus it has a 3D display protected by anti scratch material. Facebook is heavily integrated into what looks like Android and other specs include USB on the go and micro HDMI.

There’s an 8 megapixel camera at the back, with dual LED flash and the camera on this tablet is able to record full HD video, something that most modern devices of this type can’t really do. Touch focus, face detecting, face tracking and smart contrast are also on the list. Also, let’s not forget the green side of things, since this is a slate made of material that’s very easy to recycle. Measuring 12.1mm in waistline, Xperia Light looks like a solid 7 incher with a dual core CPU and lots of promise…

LG Optimus Pro, a Quad Core Tegra 3 Phone With 720p Display, Android 4.0 Loading ... Hasan Kaymak just sent me a very nice email containing his latest concept phone, the LG Optimus Pro, that you can see right here. We’re dealing with a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 unit with 1.5GHz of speed and the next generation of NOVA display, with a 4.3 inch diagonal and 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

LG Optimus Pro, a Quad Core Tegra 3 Phone With 720p Display, Android 4.0

This 720p phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Optimus UI, it’s got Bluetooth 3.0, some 3D features and it’s overall a tiny device. I can spot a 12.1 megapixel camera in there, which would be a first for LG and a welcome first for that matter. The front design of the handset reminds me a bit of the HTC HD7, maybe because of that speaker grille at the top.

I’m really curios to see the first HD display phones, since they might amaze us all, who are still using the iPhone 4′s Retina Display as a landmark in quality. Also, I’ve seen a LG Optimus Black unit in action and the NOVA display was stunning. Now imagine a second generation of NOVA display…

Samsung Pixel Phone Concept is More of a Handycam Loading ... How about a wearable phone with solid video recording ability? I’m talking about the Samsung Pixel, a design created by Ryan Held in collaboration with Samsung. This device focuses on video recording at top quality.

Samsung Pixel Phone Concept is More of a Handycam

Don’t expect too much storage on this device, since the idea was to make the gadget as small as possible and focus on a user-friendly interface. An OLED film is used on this handset, that’s let loose when the unit is closed. The first thought when I saw this Samsung concept phone was that I was dealing with a handycam, not a smartphone.

With a tube-like design, this handset is ideal for photo and video taking and the Samsung Pixel is very easy to hold with one hand. You can align your index finger with the recessed record button and some of the features can even be accessed without having to open the phone.

Nokia W6 00 Communicator Might Be Solid Mango Material Loading ... With Windows Phone Mango so close to launch, it’s time to see some concepts with this OS on board… Among them we find the Nokia W6-00 Communication, a device that’s created by Patrick Walters and pictured below.

Nokia W6 00 Communicator Might Be Solid Mango Material

This nifty slider comes with a 4 row QWERTY keyboard, the usual WP7 buttons and the classic Windows Phone interface. I’m guessing that a 3.7 to 4 inch display is available here, plus the typical quality Nokia keyboard (thinking about the E7 here). Nevermind that this is closer to a drawing/sketch than a Photoshop work, the idea is solid.

Any suggestions on how to make this device even cooler? Maybe with a powerful camera, an original sliding mechanism and a special Nokia UI for Mango OS?

Well, it has just turned into a full-fledged smartphone, a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone with very impressive specifications. This is a dual core model, with a Bravia touchscreen and all the standard audio technology for a top notch player/phone.

Glance Skinny Handset Fits Into Any Pants Loading ... Having a problem with your bulky smartphone and tight jeans? This is where the Glance skinny handset comes into play, a concept created by designer Alan Gerardo Farias. We’re dealing with a 4 inch OLED screen phone, with a display that’s scratch resistant.

Glance Skinny Handset Fits Into Any Pants

This is an extremely slim dual display phone, with dual speakers, mini USB port, a bottom 2 inch OLED display for notifications and a front and back camera with flash. The reason why this unit is called “Glance”? Well, in the moment you hold the handset in your pocket, only the smaller 2 inch screen can be seen, so you can have a glance at it, to see the missed calls, texts, twitter mentions and whatnot.

One can only guess the thickness of this model, but I’m supposing it’s below the 7mm speculated for the iPhone 5. The only question here is the material and the component types, since it would take serious nanotech to produce something so skinny…

New Chubby iPhone Uses Fingerprint Swiping for Control Loading ... With all of the recent iPhone 5 rumors, Apple fans forgot to check out the speculations about a tinier iPhone, the nano version. Well, now comes this concept to remind us all that such a device could actually exist We’re dealing here with a shortened iPhone 4 that got a very interesting way of input.

New Chubby iPhone Uses Fingerprint Swiping for Control

This device is designed by Zeki Ozek, who proposes a shorter iPhone with the ability to swipe the user’s finger for background apps. Also, fingerprints work for NFC payments and purchases in the app store. This model looks quite a bit like the iPhone 4, except for the fattie profile. Don’t expect any of these features on the iPhone 5, but maybe on the iPhone 6… who knows?!

This would make a really fine iPhone nano, or maybe a new media player from the iPod Touch series, but one with NFC support as extra.

Strata + Saturn is a Single Hand Cellphone, Created by Parker Kuncl Loading ... I have shown you a single hand use cellphone before, for people with disabilities and here we are again with a similar design, this time created by Parker Kuncl. Dubbed the Strata + Saturn, this phone uses a design that’s part of the Project Rubik, exploring Kinetic UI technologies and new physical input methods.

Strata + Saturn is a Single Hand Cellphone, Created by Parker Kuncl

As you can see in the photo that shows the back of the phone, it comes with stratified rings, just like the ones of the planet Saturn. This design feature creates a touch-sensitive depression on the back of the handset and the fingers of the user’s hand can control the interface simply by circling a certain ring.

This UI allows one to control the smartphone without having to occupy the touchscreen area. Ever since the PSP Vita was announced, with a back touchpad, I’ve been thinking about phones that leave the front screen alone and let the user control it through the back. And now this technology is here… This is a patent pending design, so expect it to reach real life cellphones at some point.

HiLo Tablet Concept Involves a Felt Keyboard That Also Acts as a Pouch Loading ... Created by Roni Margolin, the HiLo tablet actually brings up an original idea: how about a tablet pouch that also acts as a keyboard? The device is a 10 inch OLED slate that doesn’t bring anything unusual, while the wireless felt keyboard is the thing that interests me more.

HiLo Tablet Concept Involves a Felt Keyboard That Also Acts as a Pouch

This is more of a jacket than a pouch if you want, that comes with hot pressed circuitry in order to implement the QWERTY keys you see here. The thing is that hopefully this wireless keyboard won’t connect to devices while you walk on the street and accidentally type stuff on it. I guess that a simple On/Off button can solve that.

The tablet uses an aluminum and ABS plastic case, while the keyboard is all felt. The combo weighs 1 kg and the HiLo tablet measures 14mm in thickness, which is quite a lot. However, it’s the originality that impresses.

Sony Ericsson Wilhelmina Gets New Design Feats Loading ... Sony Ericsson Wilhelmina came with a stunning idea: a clamshell gaming phone, that really takes the whole PSP Phone idea to another level. Now, we get more info about the device, from the creator of the concept, Esato forum member Razec.

Sony Ericsson Wilhelmina Gets New Design Feats

Wilhelmina comes with PlayStation Suite support, a 4 core system on chip processor and a Linux-based Java platform. The Sony Ericsson concept supports wireless charging and uses a technology called Unity Display. What’s that? Well, a way to unit two touchscreen displays in a clamshell mechanism, with a single interface. Also, this involves a very small space of separation between the displays, actually no separation at all, it possible….

You also get panoramic superwidescreen view on such a device and the virtual gaming keys are placed at the edges of the resulting huge display. Other feats include 1GB of SDRAM, 32GB of flash memory, Qriocity support, glowing Xperia logo, 8MP autofocus camera with 1080p video capture and built-in 186mAh battery. Did I mention that the total screen resolution is 1632 x 544 pixels?
