While 5 inch seems to be the max diagonal a supposed 2012 Nexus phone could have, Killu Chan goes past that with a new Sony Xperia concept. I’m talking about the Sony Xperia Nexus, pictured below in a new mockup and packing some hardcore specs, that include 128 GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Nexus by Killu Chan, a New 5.5 Inch Phablet with 4 GB Of RAM

The device comes with a LED backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 5.5 inch diagonal with 408 ppi density. The screen supports multitouch for up to 10 fingers, relies on Sony Mobile Bravia Engine technology and benefits from Gorilla Glass 2 protection. On the connectivity side we’ve got LTE, HSDPA at 42 Mbps, WiFi, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, microHDMI and probably NFC as well. At the back of the Xperia Nexus there’s an 18 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics Vario Tessar, autofocus, Xenon flash and image stabilization.

Upfront we’ve got a 3.15MP camera and under the hood there’s a Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery. As far as software goes, we’ve got Android Key Lime Pie running the show, on top of an Nvidia Tegra 4 quad core 2.1 GHz processor. Wireless charging is supported on this revolutionary model, that also relies on a nano SIM card. This model greatly reminds me of a Cybershot camera of sorts and some older concepts from back in 2008 and 2009. This is probably the first phone with the battery, signal and hour moved to the bottom and the virtual buttons so small… Interesting idea!

HTC Two X, Successor of the One X Borrows From HTC Titan II and J Butterfly (Video)

Bob Freking is a regular on our website since no day passes without him emailing a concept to us or two… An example is his latest work, HTC Two X, the successor of the One X. The idea Bob had was to combine the kickass camera on the HTC Titan II with ImageSense technology, the screen of the HTC J Butterfly and a quad core processor. The result can be seen below and teased in the video at the end of the article.

HTC Two X, Successor of the One X Borrows From HTC Titan II and J Butterfly (Video)

So what we’re dealing with here is the HTC Two X concept, that packs a 16 megapixel ImageSense camera, a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and a 1080p Super LCD 3 display. Inside is a huge 3000 mAh battery, that would make even the likes of Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX jealous. Also, this model runs “the latest version of Android”, that’s probably Android 4.2 or should be in the near future. The device also has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and I wonder if this one gets a microSD slot or not.

What I remember about the HTC One X from this spring is that it had some screen problems, a bit of overheating, people complained about its lack of microSD card slot and its microSIM tray was hard to remove. The thing I liked most about it was the camera, that frankly speaking is superior to the one of the Samsung Galaxy S III and Sony Xperia S. Are you ready for the Two X?

Sony C650X Odin Phone Pictured – Concept or Leak?

Following the hoax over here, I’m afraid to say the image below shows a real phone, since I wouldn’t want to misinform anyone. All I can say is that this supposed Sony C650X Odin handset came to us from the very prolific Jsus, who has made us believe he created real phones before. So, let’s find out what the Odin is about.

Sony C650X Odin Phone Pictured Concept or Leak?

Leaked about two weeks ago in benchmarks, this is supposed to be a 2013 Sony flagship phone, one that packs a 5 inch display The handset runs Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and has a 5 inch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, for a 441 ppi pixel density. We also get a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core CPU inside, with Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. HTC recently announced a 1080p display phone, so nothing surprising here.

However, Sony has yet to make an official debut for a quad core phone, so we’re waiting on that. The really interesting thing about the image that Jsus sent us (and probably created) is that the facade of the phone is almost all glass, with that 5 inch display being very well integrated and covering the Xperia logo, hidden under glass. I imagine that the Android buttons are now virtual, like on the Galaxy Nexus. Also, It would be cool if the lower side would light up in some way… So, what’s the verdict? Fake or real?

Nokia Lumia FX800 Concept by Vilim Plužarić Has a Titanium Unibody Design

Vilim Plužarić created a Nokia concept phone called FX800, that has become famous on a couple of blogs and sites over the past days. We’re dealing with an unique smartphone, that started from the idea of the Nokia 8910 Titanium from back in 2002, in a more evolved version. This is a 4.65 inch smartphone with a titanium unibody case and obviously Windows Phone 8 on board.

Nokia Lumia FX800 Concept by Vilim Plužarić Has a Titanium Unibody Design

Nokia Lumia FX800 features a 4.65 inch ClearBlack AMOLED HD screen, a laser cut body and measures just 8 mm in thickness. It packs a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 GB of RAM, plus 16 GB of storage. These specs are very much like the ones of the Lumia 920 in real life, to which the designer added a 12 megapixel camera. The screen supports a 720p resolution and its design seems to be a combo between the Nokia 8910 Titanium, Nokia X7 and the N9 model from last year.

People have been criticizing a lot the user of plastic materials like polycarbonate for modern handsets. They want the styling of the iPhone 5 with glass and aluminum and I expect that future Windows Phone and Android devices will take that requirement into account. So, are you for titanium or plastic materials? Have your say in the comments below!

Samsung Galaxy Nexus II, Designed By Bob Freking, Inspired by Holo and Nexus Q

Recent leaks have shown that Google is preparing more than one Nexus phone for this autumn launch. They may include a LG Nexus 4 device, a HTC Nexus 5, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Nexus II. The latter gets a mockup from Bob Freking, inspired by Holo and Nexus Q and pictured below.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus II, Designed By Bob Freking, Inspired by Holo and Nexus Q

The Galaxy Nexus 2 has the same screen as the Galaxy Note II, a HD AMOLED one, but no longer pentile. Inside there’s an Exynos quad core processor and other features include an 8 megapixel camera, plus there should also be 2 GB of RAM on board and at least 16 GB of storage. As you can see, the device has an elongated design and its back side reminds me of the first Galaxy Nexus.  I guess that the OS on board is Android 4.2 or something like it, according to leaks.

The diagonal size should be more or less the same 4.6 inch affair and when Bob said the screen is the same as the one of the Galaxy Note II, he probably referred to type, not diagonal. I wouldn’t mind seeing a 5 inch Galaxy Nexus II, if the display was integrated in a more compact way. So, what do you think of this concept? Also, on a side note: Google will unveil its Nexus Phones in October 29th, so be ready!

Apple iPad 4 Designed by Bob Freking; Yes, Already!

While we’ve got our hands full with iPad Mini speculations and Apple has just confirmed an event for its launch on October 23rd, Bob Freking is already thinking about the iPad 4. Not only thinking, but also doing, since he created a concept of the future generation Apple tablet, that you can see below.

Apple iPad 4 Designed by Bob Freking; Yes, Already!

The iPad 4 brings colored cases, borrowing from the flavours of new iPods, plus it keeps the 9.7 inch diagonal size and the widescreen Retina Display idea. It’s powered by the Apple A6 processor from the iPhone 5, making everything work faster and smoother. The cameras have also been upgraded and get the same flash as the iPhone 5 and better 13 megapixel optics. Another thing he improved was the thickness, since the iPad 3 was a bit bulky.

So, as you may have expected the jump in specs isn’t huge, the design is pretty much the same and I doubt Apple would change the design of the main iPad for the years to come. Now, the iPad Mini is an entirely different story, one that will be told starting next Tuesday. Any expectations for that? Buying the product?

I’ve been reading rumors all day regarding the 2012 Google Nexus Phones, that may be unveiled soon. It appears that there’s a LG Nexus 4 out there, plus a Sony Nexus, Galaxy Nexus II and even a HTC Nexus 5. The latter fits what Hasan Kaymak has sent me a couple of days ago: his HTC Nexus concept with a Nvidia Tegra 4 CPU inside.

HTC Nexus 5 Phone Becomes Real in Hasan Kaymaks Latest Concept

We’re dealing here with a handset that packs a 5 inch 1080p Super LCD3 display, just like the HTC J Butterfly announced officially yesterday. HTC Nexus 5 also comes with 2 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera at the back with LED flash, a 2.1 megapixel cam with LED as well and WiFi, plus Bluetooth 4.0. There’s also NFC and LTE and powering it all up is a 2,550 mAh battery. Wireless charging is available Android Jelly Bean runs the show, maybe in version 4.2.

Beats Audio technology is included and the device comes in 3 colours: white, grey and orange. The smartphone reminds me a bit of the HTC One X, but in a flatter and more rectangular way, if I can say so…

Aitor Amigo sent me one of his new designs, the 2KX Windows 8 smartphone, that’s supposed to have the graphical power of a PS3 console. The handset packs a 5.3 inch 2K resolution screen, that’s also 3D and uses an AMOLED panel. For those of you wondering, 2K means 2040 x 1080p and we also get some other incredible specs, detailed below.

Windows Smartphone 2KX Has the Graphical Power of a PlayStation 3

If I were to analyze the design, I can spot a format that hasn’t been used lately: a side sliding QWERTY keyboard smartphone that looks like some sort of crossover between that older and smaller Vaio from Sony and a Galaxy Note II. The Windows 8 smartphone concept comes with 128, 256 or 512 GB of microSSD storage at 6 GB/s speed, with 600 MB/s reading and 550 MB/s writing speeds. Inside there’s a Cortex A15 processor with 8 cores at 2 GHz each and a turbo mode that takes it up a notch, to 2.7 GHz.

The CPU Can work in 2x, 4x and 8x cores for less consumption. Also on board we find the Mali-T678 GPU with 8 cores at 6 GHz, for a total of 192G pix/s in 2 memory versions, 2 GB or 4 GB of GDDR5. Powering up this fantastic monster is a 9500 mAh battery and as far as video/photo capture is concerned we’ve got a dual 16 megapixel camera that can record Full HD at 60 FPS in 3D mode. Finally, the handset runs Windows 8 Ultimate 64 and measures 7.95 mm in thickness, while weighing a decent 119.80 grams. Fantastic device and a true powerhouse!

Sony Nexus X Leaks… Or Close to It!

Here at Concept Phones we usually show you designs of phones or mockups, maybe even prototypes, but sometimes when a mystery handset leaks, we share our opinion on its authenticity. For example, what you see here is the Sony Nexus X, apparently, that was leaked on Picasa. We’ve been expecting a bunch of Nexus devices this year, but only LG made a move in that direction so far, as leaks already showed.

Sony Nexus X Leaks... Or Close to It!

As you can see, the phone has a pretty special design, different from the classic Xperia look. The back is curved and the device seems quite bulky, although it could be just an optical illusion. At the back we have a camera with a pretty big lens and a LED flash, plus a lower side that looks as if it were made from a different material than the rest of the back. To me the shape of the Sony Nexus X back is very much like the one of the HTC 8X. Also, notice how the microUSB port is on the side and close to it we find pins for a potential docking mechanism.

The front side is pretty typical for a LG or Sony phone, but this time it includes virtual buttons and not capacitive ones. I’m calling this one a fake and a render/mockup. How about you? What do you think of this presumed Sony Google Nexus Phone?

Nokia Lumia 950 Atlantis Designed by Rahul Sharma Features Quad Core CPU, 4.8 Inch Display

One of our readers, DJArmani sent us an email requiring us to create a Nokia Lumia concept phone that slightly resembles the Lumia 920 and adopts a list of specs that he request. Designer Rahul Sharma from India was kind enough to turn the request into a real concept and the result can be seen below. Meet the Nokia Lumia 950 Atlantis, a 4.8 inch smartphone.

Nokia Lumia 950 Atlantis Designed by Rahul Sharma Features Quad Core CPU, 4.8 Inch Display

We’re dealing with a phone that arrives with the tagline “Be the change” and it offers a single unbibody design, engineered with titanium steel. Upfront we’ve got a 4.8 inch Puremotion display, Windows Phone 8 as the OS and a 2 GHz quad core Snapdragon CPU with Adreno 320 GPU inside. 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM are also included, as well as dual Dolby surround speakers for a more immersive experience. At the back we’ve got a 16 megapixel Pureview camera with a 3 point Xenon LED flash.

There’s also a removable 3100 mAh battery on board and aside from the request Rahul Sharma added a metallic triangular kickstand at the back. This is a magnetic detachable kickstand, created so it won’t stick to the phone at all times, in order not to look weird. There’s also a dedicated camera key on board and dual 2 megapixel cameras at the front. NFC, facial recognition, gesture tracking and up to 128 GB of extra microSD storage are features also included by Rahul Sharma.

He also performed slight tweaks of the design of the Lumia 920, like the curves at the bottom, while keeping the main idea intact. Fancy it? We sure do! As usual we advise you to send us your ideal design and our designer friends will make them real.

[Thanks Rahul Sharma]
