Using a car as your source of inspiration is always a pretty neat idea, but when the car itself is a concept design, things get stunning. J. Havrlant designed the Sony Ericsson T903 concept phone, inspired by Ryuga, one of Mazda’s hottest futuristic automobiles.

Although some of you won’t dig the front keys, you’ll surely appreciate the backlighting, decent touchscreen and my male intuition tells me that there’s a hot camera at the back, too… What do you think?

The Sony Ericsson Android mania is loose, now that SE have announced they’ll be shipping an Android device next summer, so concepts had to adapt to the new trend. J. Havrlant is back with one of his high tech designs, the P905, that features a QWERTY keyboard (physical or touch?), a huge touchscreen display and Android OS plus its neat interface.

I’m guessing that the P905 has much better specs than the G1…

Sony Ericsson W1, The Way a Walkman Handset Should Be

The last Sony Ericsson W1 concept phone looked pretty standard, when compared to the new one, designed by sealover94 from Esato. He might have gotten the inspiration to create a touchscreen Walkman phone when he found out that Sony is preparing its first touch Walkman player…

This is a more playful approach to the Walkman series, but if you want another spectacular design, there’s always the W1000. Nice interface on this W1!

HTC G2, A Superb Android Device

We have shown you a T-Mobile G2 concept before, but here’s yet another take on the same idea: HTC makes a second Android phone. The new design is very similar to the previous G2, with the same high-resolution display and front physical keys beneath the screen.

The QWERTY keyboard is the same as the one on the G1, all of the Google web apps are there, plus an interface that doesn’t quite impress me.

Nokia Open Bracelet Shows Incoming Calls of the Ones You Love

Remember the Nokia Open concept phone? It was a quite famous design of a handset that looked like a fan and now it turns out that it is accompanied by an accessory, Nokia Open Bracelet.

This “emotive” gadget is a fashion item, a bracelet adorned by silver elements that features a tiny circular display.

The small screen lets you know who’s calling, by interfacing with the handset via Bluetooth and displaying a color-coded message. Hot colors mean that a friend/someone from your family is calling, while cold ones mean that strangers of business partners want to talk to you.

Nokia Open Bracelet’s display can also be used as a watch, or as a screen that reproduces images.

Lenovo Ophone Is the Next Android Handset

One of the many Android handsets to follow rather… Lenovo’s also playing the Android game, as they’ve just announced the Ophone, a device that will hit the Chinese market in 2009. Too bad it’s only meant for China, as its design is quite hot, but the support for TD-SCDMA 3G plus China Mobile’s apps kill in terms of usage abroad.

Maybe hackers will find a way of making this viable for Western markets, because it would be a real pity to miss out on such a hot looking device. Not that we won’t be seeing an invasion of other Android phones in the West too…

Apple triBook Features a 21 Inches Screen, MacBook With a Full Size Trackpad

Open up your MacBook! No, really open it up… only to realize that there could be more opening done, if you had the latest Apple triBook device. Haven’t you heard? It’s the hottest item this Christmas. Everybody has one… Go get it!

Apple triBook Features a 21 Inches Screen, MacBook With a Full Size Trackpad

Now that you’ve come back to your PC realizing that there’s no such thing in stores yet and that this is only a concept, learn this: the triBook might be more real than we think, specially since Apple’s always quiet about its hot new devices. What this new laptop brings to Apple’s series of portables is the huge screen, which gets two extra side displays, that make up a total of 21 inches of screen space to glance at.

Aside from the lateral folding screens, the Apple triBook also comes with a huge trackpad (the same size as the keyboard), an 8x SuperDrive, I/O connectors, a top notch HDD and the typical MacBook CPU.

Some folks still insist that this is a real device… What do you think?

Pupa Concept Phone Is 60% Emotion and 40% Technology

December 11th, 2008

The modern gadgets are usually judged by the number of features they have and the number of objects they replace… “Simplistic” is never a good adjective to describe a brand new handset or portable device, as convergence has lead to hunger for performance.

However, there are some gizmos that put more emphasis on feeling and less on superficial exaggerated specs.

Pupa Concept Phone Is 60% Emotion and 40% Technology

Enrico Pandolfini designed the Pupa-styled concept phone in the picture above, a simple handset with attractive looks and user-friendly interface. This handset is all about feeling, as it can be customized to the user’s mood and, for example you’ll hear a merry tune once your lover calls, but the song will change to a more dramatic one, when you get an official call.

Playstation Compact Digital Camera, Half the PSP, Double the Fun

What’s cross branding these days? We’ve seen Vaio phones, Bravia smartphones and maybe there’s an XPERIA console lurking out there… Of course, all of these are concepts, but that didn’t stop Petros Stambolis from seeing the future of Sony’s digital cameras.

It’s not a Cyber-shot branded one, but a PSP relative, the Playstation Compact camera.

Playstation Compact Digital Camera, Half the PSP, Double the Fun

PSC works with the Digital Living Network, allowing you to share photos, videos and real time imagines with the original PSP console. This look like half of the portable gaming device and it got me wondering: why shouldn’t two PSCs make one PSP? Going even further with my speculations, why not a PSC and a PSCc (Playstation Camcorder)?

Motorola Rugged Phone, Certainly a Concept

This surely doesn’t look like something that Moto would pull out of their hats this Christmas, specially with all that Android hype. However, we’ve got to admit that the design is quite intriguing and that its creator, Iulius Lucaci did a terrific job.

Turns out that this rugged Motorola phone also features GPS and probably an electronic compass, considering the markings on the side of the screen.
