Sony Ericsson has just joined the Open Handset Alliance and claims that it’s preparing an Android Phone for mid-2009, but designers have already seen the future an projected it on virtual paper. Xell, from Esato designed the Sony Ericsson Google Phone concept, bearing the name of G703.

You take a little bit from XPERIA, a G1 influence and a hot QWERTY keypad, plus Google web apps and you’ve got the Google Phone below:

Kudos to the designer, specially since he claims that this is a quick concept and not the final masterpiece.

Nokia Gaming Device for The Elderly, Older Than the PSP?

This project had designer Amber Chamberlain as a member and it turns out that his group assignment was mentioning a modern gaming device, even before the PSP surfaced, since the concept dates from 2003. Imagine a cellular wireless product meant for the elderly… Imagine that it keeps them in touch via simplistic games, it keeps scores, game conditions and other data, no matter where the players are located.

Nokia Gaming Device for The Elderly, Older Than the PSP?

We’re talking 50 plus demographics… What type of games would these people play? Something tells me that this idea would appeal to the younger public as well. What do you say?

Such a small device packing so many features… These days we find every imaginable feature on concept phones, either related to input, media and even software. This time we’re treated with a fine example of such a neat device, a concept design created by Jakub Lekeš, whose work you can admire below:

This multimedia concept phone is a slider that comes with a touchscreen display going all the way to the outer rim and touch-based keys. The lateral side of the display will show the user the audio controls/equalizer/useful info. There’s also quite a variety of ports to connect with, on the side of the device, so you’ll hook it to tons of other gadgets, concepts or not.

Underneath the display, there’s a sliding touch QWERTY keyboard with nav keys included and on the specs list of the phone you’ll also find a 4.3 megapixel autofocus camera with digital zoom support. It probably does video recording as well…

The mystery has been solved! Remember that strange T-swivel handset from a couple of days ago? Turns out it’s a Palm device bearing the name of Roteo. Also, speculations say we’ll see it on the market in 2009, if Palm can last that long without being bought by a major player in the mobile phone industry.

We want Android on it! Can you hear me Palm?

Sony Ericsson C910 and C805 New Designs. Which is Better?

We’ve got the hot-looking Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot C805 concept on our hands and the not so hot C910, but equipped with a better camera. Both of the designs belong to Shane A. Bygrave, who’s also more proud of the C805, while considering that C910 needs a few more touches.

I tend to agree, specially after having a look at the first device’s interface and keypad. So, what do you say? Who wins it? The 8.1 megapixel Cyber-shot or the 10.1 megapixel one?

Sony Ericsson X5 Concept is The P1 Follow-up

Zuckabaecka is a fresh face (at least for me) on the Esato board, but his new concept phone design is a pleasant surprise. Borrowing a bit from the XPERIA look and interface and adding a P1-style keyboard in the mix might be a consolation for those of you who still hope to see Paris P5i on the market.

At least, that’s what the P1 follow-up should be…theoretically.

Natural Year Phone Is Made Out of Hay, Saving the Planet Through Biodegradable Materials

It’s been quite a while since we saw an eco-friendly phone in here, so a new addition is welcome, specially an original handset like this. Je-Hyun Kim designed the Natural Year Phone, that’s made out of hay and other biodegradable materials, of course, not including the screen and soft keys.

These will get recycled, while the biodegradable materials will “become one with Mother Nature”, as you can see in the pic below.

Ultra Thin Concept Phone Looks Like a Music Player

We don’t have any info on this handset, as we’ve just found it on Flickr, but I have to say that its design is cool enough to make it a part of our list of concepts. There’s the neat (touch)screen on the front side and a very useful navigational pad below it, useful for gaming and browsing through menus.

What’s really amazing is the thickness of the phone, just a few millimeters, as far as I can guess. Also, I suspect it might be a slider, but we’ll need more images for that.

Mystery T-swivel Phone Doesn’t Reveal Itself

A mysterious T-swivel handset surfaced online recently and no one managed to find out what brand it belongs to… So, it got the reputation of being just another concept/idea/prototype, a decent one though, packing a QWERTY keyboard, front camera and a hot display. There’s also a touchpad and two mouse buttons beneath the keypad…

Hmmm… Android Phone?

Zero Concept Phone Uses a Holographic Display

Talk about futuristic house phones... This time we’re dealing with a device that seems take directly from Minority Report, as it uses a holographic display. The Zero concept phone was designed by Josselin Zaïgouche and it’s a pretty regular device, till you join its two equal sides in a single square.

That’s when the middle part of the square becomes a transparent holographic display, which you’ll use to access the phone’s functions. Open up the square again and separate it into two segments and the screen is gone.
