Palm Fire Concept Runs webOS 3.0

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Considering that yesterday’s HP Pre 3, Veer and TouchPad launch meant we won’t be seeing the Palm branding for a while, here’s a concept of the not so remote past. We’re talking about the Palm Fire, a webOS 3.0 device, created by Long-Nong Huang.

This handset uses a 1GHz CPU, a 3.5 inch display and we’re pretty sure it supports wireless charging, like the Pre models. Strangely enough, in the image above, the display looks bigger than 3.5 inches, but that may be an optical illusion.

Palm Peak – Sprint 4G Design That Borrows from the iPhone

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The iPhone 4 and Palm Pre met half way and the Palm Peak concept was born with the aid of designer Steve Lipson. Before we detail the device, we’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and wish the best of luck to the designers who helped us create this wonderful website.

Palm Peak is supposed to be the thinnest sliding phone, with a mere 10mm thickness level. The handset is made from a block of brushed aluminum alloy, making the Peak a very resilient and elegant piece of machinery and also avoiding any possible signal issues. The display on board is a LED IPS one with a 3.8 inch diagonal and a 960 x 640 pixel resolution.

At the back there’s a 5MP camera with LED flash and support for 720p HD video capture. Palm Peak’s battery provides 45 hours of audio and 11 hours of video playback with a single charge. This is a webOS 2.0 device we’re dealing with, one that comes with a Swype keyboard, 4G WiMAX and 3G EVDO support.

There’s even a price tag imagined for the device, but remember that THIS IS NOT A REAL PHONE! Only a design, concept, whatever…

Palm C40 Mockup Comes With 4.3 Inch Touch Display, Snapdragon CPU, WiMAX

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Part of the Palm Pre design competition, the Palm C40 mockup was created by David Vogt and it comes with an appealing set of specs. These include a 4.3 inch capacitive touch display (OLED 480 x 800 WVGA) and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. We’re not going you to bore with common features, so let’s learn more about the most interesting ones, after the break.

Palm C40 supports Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and WiMAX, it comes with an improved hardware keyboard, a magnesium alloy shell and webOS 2.0 as the choice of OS. This is like a combo between the HTC HD2 and a regular BlackBerry or Palm Pre. What do you think of this design?

Palm Chronos – Pair That With Your WebOS Phone!

This will come in handy, especially if you already own a Palm tablet and smartphone.

All the notifications are shown on the 1.5 inch color E-Ink capacitive touchscreen and you can control the apps from your wrist. Also, this watch is capable of wireless charging.

Palm Pad Concept, Accompanied by Palm Pre 2 and Palm Watch Design

Well, the competition might have ended some time ago, but we’re still checking the entries out, like the following combo that includes a Palm Pad tablet concept, a futuristic Palm Pre and even a Palm watch. They are the creation of designer virox.

Our main focus is the Palm Pad, a device we’re all waiting for anxiously, specially as a webOS 2.0 iPad alternative. Supposedly, the unit comes with a 7 inch multitouch display (640 x 960), a 3MP autofocus camera with LED flash, 64GB of internal memory and a 1.2GHz dual core CPU. WiFi and 3G are also supported, making this unit a pretty realistic device.

As far as the Palm Watch is concerned, this is a gadget with a flexible OLED display, notification system and all in all it’s rather a companion to the Palm handset. What do you think of this trio of goodies?

Palm HD2, Powerful Handset Concept, Created by LCGuy

Dubbed the Palm HD2 and created by LCGuy, this is just another attempt at creating the future Palm Pre, since the Pre 2 was considered a disappointment by some.

Palm HD2 runs WebOS 2.0 and features a 3.8 inch AMOLED display with a 960 x 640 pixel resolution, plus an 8MP camera at the back with LED flash and a 3MP camera upfront. 1080p video recording is on the list as well, plus a microSD card slot (32GB), a 5 row QWERTY keyboard and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n.

The handset relies on a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz CPU (ARM A9 dual core), 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 2250 mAh battery. There’s also an accelerometer on board and we know that the device is Touchstone-compatible. What do you say?

Palm Pre HD, the Pre 2 That Could Have Been

We’re back with another one of the finalists, the Palm Pre HD concept, a webOS 2.0 phone designed by bhughes719. This is certainly a piece of work and we really like the idea, especially when compared to the not so impressive Palm Pre 2.

Here’s what the device is all about:

- 4MP front camera with LED flash
- gesture area below the screen
- 7MP rear camera with autofocus/LED flash, 720p video capture
- 3.8 inch AMOLED Touch display, 960 x 640 pixels
- 1GHZ CPU
- 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM, 32GB storage (microSD)
- accelerometer, ambient light, proximity sensors
- GPS, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth
- 1800 mAh battery
- slide-out physical landscape QWERTY keyboard

So, what do you say? Is this better than the Palm Pre 2?

Palm Twist Features a Rotating Display and Gaming Controls

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Pre Central started a design contest for Palm mockups a while ago and among the finalists we found the Palm Twist model, created by Adam Wrigley. This handset sports concave sides, for easier grip, but its main appeal is the screen, that will rotate 90 degrees and reveal gaming controls, as shown in the image below.

As you can see, you can use both landscape and portrait screen orientation on this Palm concept. The device also brings another innovation to the table: no input or output ports are included, so the phone relies completely on wireless connectivity, for transfers and even charging (via inductive charging base).

Will this device win the contest? What do you say?

Pre Central Debuts Palm Mockup Contest; Winner Gets a Free Palm Pre 2

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Good news for all of you designers out there: Pre Central came up with a contest that involves creating a mockup of the future Palm device. Well, since the contest began in September, it was refering to the just launched Palm Pre 2. The prize for the winning design is a free Palm Pre 2, that went on sale last week.

There’s also bad news: entries for the contest ended on October 15, so all we can do is sit and watch the finalists battling it out. Over the next weeks, we’ll show you some of the entries in this contest and we’ll praise or criticise the design of the Palm smartphone of the future.

Palm Sparta Concept Runs webOS 2.0, Designed by Terillo Walls

Terillo Walls created the Palm Sparta design, pictured below and supposedly running webOS 2.0. There’s also WiFi b/g/n support on the device and a great camera at the back.

Palm Sparta features a 640 x 960 pixel display (double compared to the Palm Pre), an 8 megapixel camera with Flash and a 1.2GHz Texas Instruments OMAP440 processor. Supposedly, the concept will reach the loving hands of T-Mobile and Vodafone. What do you say?
