We know that you’re already familiar with this picture, but it now comes with a brand new set of rumours and maybe specs. The latest rumours claim that there’s a xYz project coming from Microsoft and it includes a portable device, able to play music, movie and guess what… Xbox 360 games. Portable Xbox? Mhm.
Team Xbox says that their inside sources from Microsoft provided the info and that this device is NOT a phone. The xYz will feature a WVGA touchscreen and maybe even WiMAX or graphic processing chipsets. There’s also Live Anywhere on board and a medley of all Microsoft services, providing content, search, maps and games.

Esato board user Sealover94 designed a great PSP Phone concept, a sliding device with unknown features and its maker claims that any input is welcome, so you can suggest new features and design traits, if you want. I spot an 8 megapixel camera at the back, also a front videocall camera and I’m betting that the action buttons are hidden beneath the screen.
One might even suppose that this PSP Phone incorporates a sliding QWERTY keypad, maybe even analog sticks (unlikely) and a touchscreen. Tons of memory on board, of course, Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G hopefully and whatnot… What would like to see on this PSP Phone, spec-wise?

While waiting for the PSP 2 or PSP Go! to go live, we’ve come across a great mobile device concept, created by Shao Wei Huang. Known as EME, the device is a video player and portable gaming console that also plays music and comes with tons of other great features.
EME packs a dual screen and can be used to view contacts, photos, SMS messages (the device is a phone, too!) in standard mode, but it you turn it sideways, it’ll become a portable gaming device.
Its touchscreen will allow the user to control games easily and there’s even an “evolutional” aspect about EME: it’ll gain new features as it shares the experiences with other similar devices. I’m talking about video, music and games and this console/player/phone will be able to gain a higher resolution display and bigger speakers by joining in with another EME units.
This can be considered a modular device, since its screen can slide out and be placed on a desk like a mini theatre, plus the gadget can gain new features as various other components and accessories are attached to it.

You might be aware by now that Sony has goodies for us in 2009 and among those there’s a new PSP console, known as PSP Go! We have no pics or specs for this brand new device, but Breccia, a designer from the Esato board envisioned the future of the PSP series and created his own version of the Go! or PSP 2.
As you can see in the sketch, the device resembles quite a lot a Cyber-shot camera and speaking of which, this PSP 2 concept packs a 5 megapixel camera sensor. On its specs list you’ll also find stereo speakers, Bluetooth 2.1 (3.0 even?), WiFi support, 8GB of internal memory, an accelerometer and a 4.3 inch touchscreen display with a 640 x 360 pixel resolution (16:9)
Breccia also imagined that this new PSP will use OLED technology (screen) and that it’ll incorporate a microphone, a microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and a battery slot. What do you say? Is this design plausible? The features sound about right, but I’m not so sure as far as the design is concerned…

Word’s out that Sony will be releasing a PSP 2 (no kidding?), but you probably guessed that much by now. What’s special about this new theory is that the info comes from David Perry, a developer at Acclaim, who said that “Sony finally has the PSP 2″ and that it doesn’t pack an UMD disk drive.
The developer posted the news on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, getting much hype from the blogosphere, as we’re all anxious to see what Sony has in stall for us. E3 will probably bring the new console to the public’s eyes and we can say that moving on to Flash memory storage instead of the battery-draining optical drive is a logical choice.

Here’s another PSP concept, a so-called “PSP 2″, without having the “Phone” attached to its name, this time… Notice the pretty decent camera at the back and an interesting layout of the keys. This is en ergonomic gadget, although I have the feeling that some of the user’s fingers will be touching the camera’s lens.
Also, I hope that the action buttons and D-pad keys are not too embedded in the console and I would that they would stick out more, while being rigid, but still ease to use. Hmm… interesting… Only now I noticed that the device is branded Sony Ericsson… Could this be a PSP Phone, after all?

We’ve missed showing PSP Phone concepts, specially since they’re all we’ve got right now, because Sony prefers to focus on the their losses and crisis, instead of a potential console/phone.
The PSP Phone 3000 was designed by YouTube user ivanUshline and it packs two sensor analogs that can be used like mini touch pads and a touchscreen display with support for multitouch.
According to the designer, this PSP Phone is very small and it’s also a portable PS3, using Mini Blue Ray disks and the classic Memory Stick Pro Duo. The device is a dual sliding one, so you’ll have to slide to the right to reveal the gaming controls or to the left to reveal the numeric keypad. The “Start”, “Select” and “Home” buttons are now virtual ones, accessible via touchscreen.
What do you think? Is this concept far from reality or is it doable in let’s say 2 years?

Imagine the perfect portable console… Now leave all the thoughts about the PSP behind and check out the concept below. This “iPSPhone”, as we call it, is (obviously) a hybrid between a PSP and the iPhone, but the quality of the final shots is rather poor.
You can call this a PSP Phone if you want, but I’m not sure about its phone features….
Strangely enough, the author of the original post that shows the handset calls the device an “iPhone Slider”, without mentioning any link to the PSP, although there’s a pretty big PlayStation branding between the concept’s directional pads.
The button layout is quite strange, it’s like one set of buttons got repeated and pasted near the first one.

Fancy a touchscreen player? Already got an iPod Touch? How about some neat console features? Enter Sega Go, a concept portable player designed by Daniel Kroker, that also uses 3G technology (guess that makes it a phone, too) and movement sensors used for gaming.
The device also incorporates a touchscreen and a pretty decent pack of video codecs (we think). Can’t really tell if those sliding parts feature touch-based controls or not, but Sega Go seems a really nice concept overall.

What’s cross branding these days? We’ve seen Vaio phones, Bravia smartphones and maybe there’s an XPERIA console lurking out there… Of course, all of these are concepts, but that didn’t stop Petros Stambolis from seeing the future of Sony’s digital cameras.
It’s not a Cyber-shot branded one, but a PSP relative, the Playstation Compact camera.
PSC works with the Digital Living Network, allowing you to share photos, videos and real time imagines with the original PSP console. This look like half of the portable gaming device and it got me wondering: why shouldn’t two PSCs make one PSP? Going even further with my speculations, why not a PSC and a PSCc (Playstation Camcorder)?
