This project had designer Amber Chamberlain as a member and it turns out that his group assignment was mentioning a modern gaming device, even before the PSP surfaced, since the concept dates from 2003. Imagine a cellular wireless product meant for the elderly… Imagine that it keeps them in touch via simplistic games, it keeps scores, game conditions and other data, no matter where the players are located.
We’re talking 50 plus demographics… What type of games would these people play? Something tells me that this idea would appeal to the younger public as well. What do you say?

Where do I sign to get one of these devices when it turns into a real one? Check out the Slick PMP Phone concept designed by Jorge. L Gonzalez, a tech wonder that really had me impressed. It has everything a gamer needs, the perfect keyboard for texting freaks, a huge touchscreen and a very attractive form factor.
It basically a hybrid between a PSP, a Sidekick and any HTC device that you can imagine.
The handset’s camera is placed at the center back part, so it won’t obstruct your fingers as you game on. Plus, you get to use the device’s shoulder buttons for camera control and gaming. Notice those joysticks? They pop up when you slide the moving part of the handset and they’re pretty big, even for a portable console.
Slick also includes a QWERTY keypad that may remind some of you of the famous Sidekick or the T-Mobile G1.
So, we’ve got easy texting and instant messaging, gaming functions and a hot curved design that offers a better feel in the user’s hand and next to his face. We can’t forget the incredible 4 inch touchcreen, with zoom in/out support and the multimedia functions that also make this phone a PMP (portable media player).
Last, but not least, the quality of the materials used to built Slick really impressed me: stainless steel, chrome (trim), aluminium (faceplate) and rubber (keypad).

Of course this is a Photoshop edit, but it got me thinking: why doesn’t anyone exploit the PSP’s functions to the max? Add an attachable camera to it, maybe even with video capture support, or add an uber stereo speaker system to the console…
Perhaps, we’ll even see the PSP turning into a very small console, kind of like what modu is to phones. You’ve got a tiny core device and TONS of accessories. How ’bout a PSP-DSLR camera?

We’ve shown you all of the PSP 2 and PSP Phone concepts we could come up with, but still there are more to droll upon. The latest concept PSP 2 was designed by Tai Chiem and it’s a flexible OLED-based device that can be rolled. In case this flexibility bothers you, keep in mind that the display will become more rigid under the influence of an electric charge.
This device also features stereo speakers (on either side), also used as a jog wheel and camera control. Gaming will be done via two joysticks, a feature we’ve been looking forward for years. Is this a Sony-branded dream or just a device hidden in the company’s vaults, that will hit the market in 2013?

Gamers everywhere unite! Claim your right to a portable XBOX console and hope that the following concept will be turned into a real device some day. Chris Hair designed this beauty using 3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop CS3. The result can be admired in the following pictures: the XBOX portable.
Its features are fairly impressive and you should know that the device is able to play original XBOX games, access XBOX Live and it’ll also be used as a standard XBOX 360 controller. XBOX live voice chat is fully supported, plus the console comes with a QWERTY keyboard, built in WiFi B/G/N and a 32GB SSD.
The XBOX portable’s display is a 16.7 million colour screen and surprisingly enough, the console can run Windows Vista, while gaming is handled via dual control sticks. Get more storage space with the aid of an SDHC card slot and finally connect the device to… basically anything with an USB port.
You’ll be able to view high def content on the console, login to your MSN and XBOX live accounts, chat and basically get an upgrade, even if you worship your Eee PC.

Not quite the DS 2 concept we’ve seen a while back, but this new version of the portable console brings hope to the gamers who want to get more out of their devices. The Nintendo DSi is 12% thinner than its predecessor and features a bigger touchscreen (3.25 inches) plus a 3 megapixel camera, 512 MB internal memory and built-in browser.
Also, it comes with an SD memory card slot (2GB max), an internal camera and the DSi Shop service. The new DS will be available on November 1st for $167.

We’ve seen this before, haven’t we? However, this time we get some video action out of this concept that combines a Sidekick and PSP Slim into a hybrid device. Samuel Lau is the genius behind it and his console comes with a 3.2 megapixel cam plus a full frontal webcam.
Check out that slide-up QWERTY keyboard, that should make all gamers avid texters and chatters. This is more than an idea, it’s an initiative that, if successful will make mister Lau quite famous and maybe make his dreams come true.
He seems to believe that enough views and comments will make his project feasible for Sony, so let’s make his dream real!

There’s been a lot of commotion on gaming blogs lately, concerning a possible launch of a new DS with bigger and wider screens. There was even an ad to support these claims, but I’m not to one to buy the Nintendo DS 2 rumour so easily.
Of course Nintendo called this portable console a rumour and speculation, so it seems we’ve got a Photoshop work on our hands and a pretty good one, except for the fact that the screens are not aligned.

While the PSP Phone is getting closer and closer to becoming a real device and not only a rumour, we’re barely introduced to concepts of similar Xbox-based contraptions. The latest is an Xbox 360-Zune hybrid designed by the concept artists of T3.
The specs list is very limited for this concept, but it does impress us with 64GB of flash storage and all the phone functions one could dream of. This is a rather thin device, but I guess that it’s the Zune talking here and its influence. Add a TV-out and decent battery to this portable Xbox 360 and I’ll be its fan. You can find more pics of the device here.
