Google Nexus Ultima, the First Android Jellybean Device Loading ... The 4th Nexus Phone comes from Bob Freking, as the Google Nexus Ultima concept shown below and the first phone with Android Jellybean on board. We’re dealing here with a premiere: the first handset made by all 4 major manufacturers from the Android world: LG, Samsung, HTC and Motorola. Android Jellybean also combines the UI features of Touchwiz, Motoblur, Sense and Optimus UI.

Google Nexus Ultima, the First Android Jellybean Device

Each of the manufacturers supplied a component from a field they excel in: Samsung gave the Exynos CPU, LG and Samsung created the display, the camera and design were done by HTC and Motorola is responsible with the build quality and the rest of the features. Google Nexus Ultima packs a 4.7 inch RGB IPS+ HD 720p display that generates 1000 nits of brightness. There’s a 2MP camera upfront with 1080p 30 fps capture and a main 13 megapixel shooter with dual LED flash and 60 fps 1080p video capture.

The back of the handset is made of kevlar and this 2012 Nexus Phone comes with a steel frame that protects the internals of the device. The CPU of choice here is a quad core Exynos 5250 (Cortex ARM A15 MP core and Mali GPU). There will also be an extreme edition of this handset, with a higher price, a Super AMOLED HD NOVA screen, a 20 megapixel camera and 5MP front cam, all of these protected with waterproof and bulletproof glass. Remember that this is only a concept, that measures 9mm in thickness!

Curved Tablet Design is Actually a Flexible Smartphone Loading ... Welcome to the Samsung Waview, an intriguing concept created by Li Wei and having at its center flexible LED screen technology. What’s really nice about this oversized smartphone or smaller tablet is that it can also be used as a lampshade when it doesn’t serve as a communication device.

Curved Tablet Design is Actually a Flexible Smartphone

The handset becomes not only a lampshade through its placement in a special cradle, but it also charges up through the same mechanism. Flexible LED phones are mere prototypes and concepts now, but the likes of Sony and Samsung are working hard to make them real. It will be cool to have a phone or tablet with a solid base area and a flexible display that you can expand to either handset size or slate size.

Samsung Waview is a pretty nice start for a future prototype, but its glass looks a bit too thick to be viable. A quick idea for specs: dual core 2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 720p resolution, 8MP camera and maybe some 3D graphics thrown in just for fun. Would you dig such a device?

Samsung Diamond S is a Phone From 2013 Loading ... We’ve just received an anonymous mail from someone in Russia with a beautiful design of a Samsung concept smartphone from 2013. This is the Samsung Diamond S, a device with incredible specs. It packs not only a quad core 2.5GHz processor, but also a 3D HD display that can support 1080p resolutions.

Samsung Diamond S is a Phone From 2013

The display is uses Lotus Glass technology for protection, it’s got a 4.3 inch diagonal and it supports 3D graphics. We also get 8 channel sound from the Samsung Diamond S, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, as well as a 20 megapixel camera with 3D capture support and a front 3D camera for videocalls. The front photo sensor is 5 megapixels in resolution. 3D video capture is handled by the main camera in 1080p mode, which is a great feat, that will probably arrive only in 2013.

The entire device is a mere 6mm thin, it runs Android 4.x, possibly even version Android Jellybean, whenever that launches. The smartphone also comes with a HDMI out port and its rectangular shape reminds me of the iPhone 4 quite a bit, but I’m not saying it’s a copycat, mind you!

Samsung Galaxy S III Concept, in Hasan Kaymak’s Vision

Samsung Galaxy S III Concept, in Hasan Kaymaks Vision Loading ... We had our 15 minutes of fame thanks to this Samsung Galaxy S III design and now it’s time for a fresh one, this time courtesy of Hasan Kaymak. He imagined the new Galaxy S phone as a very powerful device with a penta-core processor and the result goes something like this:

Samsung Galaxy S III Concept, in Hasan Kaymaks Vision

This Samsung Galaxy S III concept features specificaitons that include a 4.8 inch 720p display, Bluetooth 4.0, an Nvidia penta-core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS. It also has HSPA+ connectivity, LTE and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity. I imagine that this 5 core CPU device supports some crazy camera sensor, like 16 megapixel with 2 x 1080p capture, if possible. Honestly speaking, the Tegra 3 can be considered a penta core CPU, since it uses one extra CPU for minor tasks.

However, if Hasan imagined the Nvidia Tegra 4 on this smartphone, the display would surely be a 1080p one, which is not the case. I wonder when the evolution of mobile processors and screen resolutions will stop and what it takes to do that…

Samsung Galaxy S III Pictured in a leak From Russia! Model Number is GT I9500 (Updated!) Loading ... We’ve just received the mother of all leaks, an email showing us an image of what’s claimed to be the real Samsung Galaxy S III and real specifications. The info comes from a supposed Samsung employee or someone connected to the company in Russia. The guy is called Ivan Ilchenko and the photo apparently appeared on the official Samsung page on the Russian social network Vkontakte.

Samsung Galaxy S III Pictured in a leak From Russia! Model Number is GT I9500 (Updated!)

This model is called Samsung GT-I9500 Universal and I advise you to take the info with a grain of salt, as it could be a mere render of the smartphone. This next flagship device increases the screen size to 5 inches and the unbelievable factor here is that this “Universal” phone is working with both Android and Bada OS. The device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich relying on a quad core 1.5GHz processor (Samsung Exynos 4412) and the UI is TouchWiz 5, that actually looks nice.

The 5 inch screen is an edge to edge one, with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and HD Super AMOLED technology involved. Samsung Galaxy S III measures 9mm in thickness, uses a 12 megapixel camera with LED AND Xenon flash and a front 2 megapixel camera, plus 32/64GB of internal memory and a microSDXC card slot. Other features include a stylus, 4G LTE support, NFC, USB 3.0 and a metallic case. I’m finding it hard to believe this is real, mostly because of the huge screen diagonal and the stylus inclusion… This may in fact be a Galaxy Note follow-up or even the Note with an upgrade. Do you think this is the real Galaxy S III?

UPDATE: Samsung Russia just contacted us and said this is not a real phone. Here’s what they said: “The mock-ups, published in the article on Concept-Phones.com, were posted in the “Imagined Phones” section of “Samsung Phones Owners’ Club” group on VKontakte.ru. This section contains unofficial artworks and designs, created by group members, and are products of pure imagination, sometime even a joke”. Here’s the section they talk about.

Samsung Galaxy S III Gets Fresh Design and Specs, Samsung Galaxy Tab Andromeda Tablet too Loading ... While we wait for Samsung to give us a hint at what the Samsung Galaxy S III will be like, we take our time to have a look at a concept design. Created by Bob Freking, this device also gets a set of specs and a tablet to accompany it: Galaxy Tab Andromeda. Feel free to offer feedback to these interesting devices in the Comments section.

Samsung Galaxy S III Gets Fresh Design and Specs, Samsung Galaxy Tab Andromeda Tablet too

Samsung Galaxy S III features a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash and support for 1080p 60 fps video capture, a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD 1080p display and a 1.4GHz quad core Exynos processor. The device is a mere 6.8mm thin, which is incredible by today’s and even 2012′s standards, considering the technology on board. There’s also a front 3.15MP camera for videocalls and with support for 1080p HD video capture. Kevlar material protects the back side, just like it did with the Motorola Droid RAZR.

Add to these specs DragonTrail fortified Glass, 2GB of RAM and a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU and you’ve the phone of the year 2012, winning all the awards there are to get. The Galaxy Tab concept tablet is probably also a quad core item with at least a Retina Display level screen, but the designer didn’t specify anything about it, so feel free to dream…

Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, the First of a Series of Conceptual Designs Loading ... Alexander Black just sent me an email with his new initiative, that involves a series of conceptual phone designs. The first of them is the Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, that’s pictured below. This device uses a huge 4.7 inch qHD touchscreen, that reminds of some hot HTC phones such as the Titan and the Sensation XL.

Samsung Galaxy Asteroid, the First of a Series of Conceptual Designs

Also, this phone comes with a quad core processor, probably an Exynos unit or maybe even Tegra 3 and its OS is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s also a 2100 mAh battery on board and I have to say that this device looks a bit like the Samsung Galaxy S II, maybe with a bit of design borrowed from HTC. There’s also a 5 megapixel camera on board, at the front, probably for videocall usage. At the back there’s a main 10 megapixel camera, that’s most likely 1080p video capture capable.

The designer of the Samsung Asteroid concept says that this device will rely on solar power at some level and also that it will have an Advanced Battery Mode, that will rely on the same solar energy. With all the quad core phones coming at MWC 2012, is there room for one more from Samsung? Rumors say that the Galaxy S III will actually be a dual core unit, but a 2GHz one…

Samsung Flexible Display Transparent Tablet Also Involves 3D Technology in a Beautiful Concept (Video) Loading ... It’s one thing to see a concept from a designer and another to see an idea coming straight from a big company, such as Samsung. This is what happened with the following images and clip, that showcase the features of a Samsung flexible display tablet of the future.

Samsung Flexible Display Transparent Tablet Also Involves 3D Technology in a Beautiful Concept (Video)

This incredible device is also transparent and very, very thin, plus it’s foldable, so it can fit in the tiniest purses and bags. Samsung’s flexible concept tablet shows 3D graphics, allows instant translation, augmented reality interaction and even projects 3D holograms on its surface. Meanwhile the technology behind this is flexible AMOLED, something we’ve heard about and even seen in recent trade shows at Samsung’s booths.

Everyone is saying that the main problems with flexible screens and devices are batteries and resilience. The key to solving problems would be organic materials and solar charging, but we’re maybe years away from that and all we can do now is glance at prototypes and concepts. Would a transparent tablet make the difference on today’s market?

Samsung ISD Phone Is Bigger Than the iPhone, Features 720p Display Loading ... We’ve got another concept smartphone created by Jonathan De Jesus, this time a Samsung device with a 720p display. The handset is bigger than the iPhone, a bit wider and comes with an 8 megapixel camera at the back and front, strange as that may seem.

Samsung ISD Phone Is Bigger Than the iPhone, Features 720p Display

The Samsung ISD supports fingerprint authentication, sliding on the screen for navigation purposes and more. Inside there’s a Hummingbird CPU and the phone is supposed to run the latest version of Windows Phone OS, maybe the future iterations: Tango, Apollo… WP8? Jonathan wishes Samsung would hire him to design phones and mentions that the ISD is a device with an edge to edge display, something that we’ve been waiting to become reality for a while now.

Interestingly the front camera is integrated into the top left side here and will probably give a great videocall experience if this model has LTE connectivity. Looking forward to seeing what else Jonathan De Jesus has prepared for us! Any suggestions for him?

New Google Nexus Phone Design Shows Up, Curved Prime Power Loading ... If you remember the Nexus Prime render from a while ago, now you have something to compare it with. I’m talking about the design below, created by Deviantart member hsigmond and dubbed mYNeXus. The curved design from the Samsung Unpacked event teaser is kept and the leaked screenshots with Ice Cream Sandwich have been put to good use on the screen.

New Google Nexus Phone Design Shows Up, Curved Prime Power

If you want the real info on this handset, the Galaxy Nexus is going to be announced on October 19th in Hong Kong together with the new Android. Rumors say that it will retail for $700+ and as you can see it will lack physical buttons, replacing them with the virtual ones from Honeycomb. I expect here a waistline of under 8.5mm (Galaxy S II thickness), at least 16GB of storage and a dual core 1.2GHz CPU at least, maybe a 1.5GHz one even.

TI OMAP should be favored and inside sources say that we’ll see a 5MP camera with 1080p capture, if possible. The real novelty here is the LTE support and maybe the 720p resolution that has yet to be confirmed…
