We can finally have a look at its back, profile and a list of imagined specifications. This phone render is associated with a 4.5 inch Full HD Crystal LED touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Xperia Eterion has 4 touch buttons on the lower side and their symbols will appear under them when they’re needed. I guess that this could upset Google, that ordered all makers of Android 4.0 compatible hardware and software to give up the Menu keys and other extra buttons they had, both virtual and physical. Back to this 2012 Xperia concept, it also comes with a 16 megapixel camera with LED flash and a very original design of the cam + flash area, that’s minimalistic and elegant. It’s almost like a little keyhole…

I guess that the three dots above the Sony Ericsson symbol are the speakers here, but I may be mistaking. You must know that the Sony Xperia Eterion runs Android 4.0 and the designer also promised a version with Android 5.0 Jellybean in the future. Other specs include 16GB of internal memory, a quad core 1.4GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. Frank Tobias hopes that this Xperia design is OK… I say it’s more than OK, it’s great!

Sony Xperia Vision also has a 12 megapixel 3D camera with 1080p HD video recording and Sony Xplod audio technology. There’s also a Walkman audio player on board, as you can see and I bet that the 3D graphics look stunning in this case, unlike the LG Optimus 3D and HTC EVO 3D. I wish Samsung would make a move on the 3D market, but they don’t seem interested, so Sony could grab the opportunity. I have yet to understand the deal with the semicircle at the top of the phone, but it may just be a design gimmick, like the ring on the Xperia Ray.

I guess it lights up when you get notifications. Overall the design reminds me of the Xperia Arc combined with the Samsung Omnia 7. Any ideas you’d like to add to it? Cool Tron fonts by the way…

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.There’s another Resident Evil movie coming and this one is called Retribution. Believe it or not the trailer for the movie (available here) shows a bunch of gadgets in its beginning, including a mysterious Sony Xperia smartphone (0:13 into the trailer). The handset looks a lot like this Xperia Curve/Arc HD phone that we showed you a while ago.

So, there are two options here: either this is truly the Sony Xperia Arc HD or merely the Xperia Arc/Arc S with a rebranding that gives up SE for Sony. In case this is really a brand new handset, I’m expecting here a 4.2 inch touchscreen display with 720p resolution, a dual core NovaThor processor and maybe even a 12 megapixel camera, plus LTE connectivity. I guess we’ll have to wait till MWC 2012 to find out, unless Sony issues a confirmation on that matter.

It’s always nice to keep an eye on the latest movies to find prototypes of phones and tablet. In Tron Legacy I saw a very interesting tablet that looked like Nokia material, in Real Steel there was a mystery Nokia smartphone, while Star Trek and the latest Batman iterations also had cool gadgets in them.

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Frank Tobias just published a new Sony Xperia design that’s pretty mysterious, since there are no specs attached to it. However, the designer promised to unveil new Sony Xperia Eterion pictures as soon as he creates more. In the meantime you can have a look at this smartphone with straight lines and an interesting set of 4 shortcut buttons below the display.

The Xperia Eterion is referred to as a flagship model, with CrystalLED full HD display and most likely a 12 megapixel camera. The screen here is a 4.5 inch unit, I guess and this model may well be a quad core unit, but I’m only speculating, so don’t take my word for granted. It would be cool if those buttons at the bottom were actually tiny capacitive screens with 3D projections of their functions… of course that’s only a dream of mine, but Frank is free to elaborate on that idea if he likes it.

I can see that using NovaThor processors will become a trend on Sony Xperia devices, as shown by recent leaks, so I guess that this handset also has one. Can anyone tell me the difference between NovaThor, a Snapdragon and a TI OMAP processor?

However, some designers think that the work is not complete here, like Jsus, who created this Xperia Glass concept, that adds a layer of glass all around the handset. Below you can see the pictures of the concept device first and then the real thing.

Meet the Xperia Glass, a device with a beautiful glass area under the screen, that house the typical touch Android buttons. The glass is also in the bezel of the phone and if it lights up in a cool way, then I’m sold. I expect here, a smartphone with a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 12 megapixel camera and 4.3 inch HD display, just like the Sony Xperia S. This device feels a little bit rigid, especially with its straight lines and especially compared to the curves of the Xperia Arc.

Transparency has always been a fascinating feature on phones, but it’s not easy to achieve even nowadays, since it requires some hardware sacrifices. Which device do you prefer? The Sony Xperia S or the Xperia Glass design?

[Thanks Jsus]

Maxi comes with a 1.2GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD video recording, plus geotagging, face and smile detection, red eye reduction and a 3 inch LCD display with Bravia Mobile Engine technology. Exmor R tech is also used here and Maxi is scratch resistant, water resistant and has wet finger tracking. There’s also a Maxi II planned by Androgama, a concept that aimes at giving the best smartphone performance in the mid end range.

It’s also a handset for the young people, just like the Xperia Active and the first Maxi. Basically, this phone is an SE Xperia Active model with an upgraded CPU and some design tweaks, if you ask me…

Whatever you want to call them, they’re pictured below and they look really nice on the showcasing floor in Las Vegas.

On the one hand we’ve got the concept tablet pictured above, with a design that reminds me of the HP TouchPad and a very curved body. There’s also a flat keyboard in the mix with what look like touch keys. At the back of the slate there’s some sort of rounded stand, that allows it to sit up easily like some sort of futuristic mini TV set. There’s also a version of the Vaio tablet without that bulb thing to support it so it may be an accessory.

The other tablet is the one shown below, the one involving a sliding keyboard and stylus in the mix. This model reminds me of the ASUS Eee Pad Slider and the Samsung Series 7 tablet that actually never made it to the market. People are saying that these are actually Windows 8 models, due to the associated between the Vaio series and commitment to Windows. I have no idea of these Sony Vaio tablets will remain prototypes or enter production ever… Fancy them?

This Xperia concept was created by Csaba Fazekas, who chose to use the old-school physical buttons under the display, cramping up the space a bit.

This model is known as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo and last time I heard this codename it referred to a dual core phone, so I guess that this is also the case here. Xperia Duo probably comes with an 8, 10 or 12 megapixel camera, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS. In case I didn’t get it right with the OS and it’s still Gingerbread, there’s always the option to update.

What do you think? Will Sony get rid of physical buttons in the future?

[Thanks Csaba Fazekas]

This design looks a bit like the one of the phone that Sony Ericsson recently teased for its announcement at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. We’re expecting dual core power here, at least on the Sony Xperia 2012 phone that will come at CES.

I guess that the screen diagonal remains around 4.2 to 4.5 inches and this time we get a 720p HD display and maybe even skip to the next level of 12 megapixel camera. A front 2MP camera would also be nice, but I’m only speculation right now, since designer Jsus didn’t send me any specifications. Since this model runs Android 4.0 and Sony Ericsson isn’t the kind of company to leave anything uncustomized, I’m expecting a bunch of their new widgets to come up, as well as a revised Timescape and Mediascape.

It’s very interesting to see how Sony Ericsson will customize its UI and if Samsung will provide a better alternative to the stock Ice Cream Sandwich UI through TouchWiz, HTC through Sense 4.0 and Motorola through whatever they call Motoblur now. SE will probably do a better job…

[Thanks Jsus]

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Let’s face it: the expectations for the PSP Phone were huge, so the Xperia Play was a bit underwhelming… Thus, we go back to concepts and find the consolation in their arms, with devices such as the Sony Xperia Vita concept below giving us hope. This work belongs to the designer Shaik Imaduddin and it actually has some nice features, that are detailed below.

Xperia Vita is supposed to be the next PlayStation Phone, one that features a 5 inch Reality Display with X-Reality Pro Picture engine and a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Inside the gaming smartphone there’s a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor with quad core graphics and at the back there’s a 16 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and 1080p video recording. The analog sticks on this baby will rise out of the body as you slide the handset up.

Speaking as a guy who didn’t like the Xperia Play, this is certainly a good idea and something that might actually work. Things I didn’t like about the first PSP Phone were the following: too little processing power, lag, too bulky and thick, button feedback wasn’t great, the screen was disappointing, games required touch input when they shouldn’t have, very few proprietary games at launch. Will the Sony Xperia Vita concept solve these problems? It may…

[thanks Shaik Imaduddin]
