Esato board member Razec created another render of the
Sony Xperia Yu concept phone, that you previously saw on our website. I have to remind you that is a 4 camera handset, with four 5 megapixel sensors used to create spectacular images. And here’s what the Xperia concept looks like at the front:

Sony Xperia Yu is an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, that also packs a programmable secondary touchscreen based on OLED technology. This one displays virtual buttons and much more info about the device plus shortcuts. The cameras at the back give a total resolution of 16 megapixels for great photo/video capture. As far as the front design of the Xperia Yu goes, we seem to be dealing with a relative of the Xperia Arc model, or at least so it looks to me.
Gone are the physical buttons, replaced with the virtual ones in Android 4.0 and I wonder what that rounded metallic area below the screen stands for…

I’ve known the designer Razec from esato.com for a while now, since he showed us some of his works. However, after taking a break from handset designs, he’s back now! Leaving that aside, I’m here to show you his latest work, a Sony Xperia concept called Yu and depicted below. The handset is a typical rectangular Xperia handset with 3 virtual buttons at the bottom and one unique feature you’ll learn after the break.

I’m talking about the four 5 megapixel camera sensors it has attached to the back, giving a strong video/photo capture performance. Sony Xperia Yu is the world’s first four camera smartphone and it comes with a backlit logo (in blue, says Sony), a programmable second touchscreen OLED display for quick UI navigation. Those 3 virtual buttons at the bottom are in fact a touchscreen area that you can fill with your own shortcuts, buttons and whatnot.
The four cameras I mentioned have an output resolution of 16 megapixels and they’re based on a technology called microstiching. You can also attach external lens accessories and flash to this handset, via a special area compatible with such gizmos. Razec has been on a 3D design hiatus for 3 years and now he’s back, so we’re looking forward for more of his excellent work.

We’ve just been teased with a fresh image of a Sony Ericsson Xperia concept dubbed Phenos. This device looks a bit like the Xperia Arc, as far as the back side reveals and there’s also something about it that reminds of the PlayStation console… It could be a gaming phone with PlayStation features or just another Android with high hopes…

I’ll leave you to judge what this model is in the Comments section. If I were to speculate I’d say this is a dual core smartphone with 8 or 12 megapixel camera with single LED flash, 4.2 inch display with 720p resolution and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as OS. Also, there’s a new TimeScape and MediaScape version applied here. Other than that we get 16GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and 1GB of RAM.
The CPU should be a dual core TI OMAP with 1.2GHz frequency… Frank Tobias created this device and feel free to click his name to see more of his concept smartphones.

After showing you the first real pics of the
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD, aka Nozomi, now we have yet another work from Jsus, the same guy who created some appealing Sony Ericsson concepts. This time he seems to have tweaked an Xperia Arc handset, as shown in the following pictures.

The front side of the device is totally a Xperia Arc, while the profile shows us a big bump in the lower back area of the phone. This doesn’t look anything like other Sony Ericsson devices, to be honest. Also, those physical buttons below the display seem already antique right now, considering that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich uses virtual buttons under the screen. I also don’t quite understand what that bump is for… It may allow the device to use a bigger battery, stuff in a LTE chip, a bigger camera sensor or who knows what.
It might also be that this model mimics the design of the Sony Tablet S, with a curved area like a folded magazine and a buttons placed in its sides, far from the user’s sight. Or it could just be a real phone, that will be coming soon and it got pictured ahead of time. Which one do you think it is?

[thanks Jsus]

Remember the story with the
Sony Ericsson Nozomi leaked live picture? Well, now there’s a REAL live pic of the handset, that’s also called the Xperia Arc HD. The folks of GSMArena.com have managed to score them, for our delight. We’re dealing here with a Gingerbread handset that packs a 4.3 inch LCD display with HD resolution, joining the ranks of 720p phones.

There’s also a 12 megapixel camera on board, with full HD video recording, according to an inside source. Also, as far as hardware goes, we get a dual core 1.5GHz Scorpion processor and the already famous Adreno 220 GPU. The Xperia Arc HD will also get a HDMI port, that will make 1080p playback a breeze on your HDTV. The phone will lack a microSD card slot, so you’ll have to do with its 16/32GB of storage.
1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth and a microSIM card slot complete the specs list of this smartphone. Also, the tipster says that this Xperia model will come a non removable battery and we’ve heard that the product might be unveiled at CES 2012, or maybe MWC 2012. I’m still waiting for a quad core Xperia at this point…

Does this Xperia concept phone look like a monolith or what? The Sony Ericsson Xperia Prisma was created by Maika Sylva, from Rotterdam, Netherlands and while it may not be the most beautiful design, at least it’s original. A bit too wide for my taste, this handset also has some modern specs, that you can read below.

Xperia Prisma comes with a 1.4GHz processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS, a display with an 800 x 1000 pixel resolution and a chassis that’s 13mm thick. There’s also a 10 megapixel camera on board and support for 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. The device weighs 140 grams and comes with the usual 3.5mm audio jack.
The classic capacitive Android buttons are on the sharp cut lower side of the phone, that stands out from the entire design. This look like more of an Xperia Mini series of device, so it may be the small and resilient kind, like the Xperia Active. The interface looks nice, but it seems that the image has been dragged and pulled to fit the screen, which is not exactly top notch editing. Now, you have your say about this Sony Ericsson concept…

J. Havrlant is back with his great designs and as usual he created a SE device, or should I say a Sony Xperia concept phone…. Meet the Sony Xperia Yume and if I’m not mistaking, this name means “dreams” in Japanese. Considering the specs of this beautiful rounded phone, it is really a dreamy gadget.

Xperia Yume comes with a 1.5GHz quad core processor, a 720p display, 2GB of RAM and a 16 megapixel camera, plus 64GB of internal storage. It’s a design done for kicks, as is the specs list, just for fun and without the endorsement of Sony Ericsson/Sony, at least for now. They could be seeing this and I strongly suggest they follow the ideas of J. Havrlant.
The device also comes with a microSD card slot, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the whole design reminds me of a combo between the Xperia Arc S and the Nokia N9 (rounded lower side and probably upper side too). I love how the speakers were placed on this model, offering it a more raw feeling, that contrasts with the elegance of the rest of the device.

Over the past days I have been receiving quite a bunch of
Sony Ericsson concepts from a guy called Jsus, that does a tremendous work when it comes to design. Here’s his latest work, a render of the Sony Ericsson Nypon LT22i, a handset that has been in the news a lot, together with Nozomi:

The rumors say that this is a next generation handset from Sony Ericsson, one that runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich, features a qHD display and a NovaThor U8500 processor. This one is a dual core 1 GHz unit with support for 1080p video recording and more next gen multimedia abilities. Sony Ericsson Nypon comes with HDMI and USB connectivity and thanks to its processor, it can support cameras of up to 20 megapixels.
USB support means that we might see some game controller action here, opening the door for mobile gaming, a feat that has also been highlighted by Android 4.0. The new OS brought joystick input control to smartphones, a feature that was only present on Honeycomb tablets before. What do you think about this device?

Sony Ericsson LT26i Nozomi has been popping up on a lot of websites, after the
Xperia concepts I have shown you on our website. Few people know that those were really renders and mistook them for the real thing. Now, the creator of the designs is back and Jsus sent us a live picture of the Nozomi.

I’m actually starting to believe that this guy has the real phone… or simply he is a huge fan of Sony Ericsson and created a mould/wooden handset following the original render. The phone looks really authentic, so that’s why I call this a “live picture”. What I know about the Sony Ericsson LT26i is that it will come with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1.5GHz dual core processor and a 12 megapixel camera.
Rumors also say that it will pack a 4.3 inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, plus a 1750 mAh battery. There are also people saying that the phone’s commercial name will actually be Sony Xperia Arc HD… What do you make of this? Is this the first live picture of the smartphone or a mould? Let the experts have their say…

Sony Xperia is a name that we’ll be hearing a lot in 2012, with Ice Cream Sandwich attached, too… As you know already, Sony bought the rest of the Ericsson stocks, so SE is no longer. This means we’ll have Sony Xperia smartphones in 2012 and this may mean a change of design. Here’s how the new smartphones might look like:

We have 3 form factors here, sent to us via email by someone in France going by the name Jsus. One of these devices is strangely similar to the dual core smartphone Sony Ericsson Nozomi, that has been leaking a lot on the web lately. These 2012 Sony Xperia handsets are all what seems like Android 4.0 material and could easily go dual core, or maybe jump to a single core 2 GHz processor.
As far as designs go, we have 3 versions here: the first one, that pretty standard for modern Xperias, the second one, that looks Nozomi and looks more business/fashion-like and the third one, that adopts a teardrop shape and the facade of the Xperia Arc and Play. If Sony will adopt any of these, they will make the right choice, but one thing’s for sure: the 2012 smartphones from the Japanese will have kickass cameras!

[thanks Jsus]
