This may be the exact opposite of a concept phone: the perfect way to ruin an existing device. Paint it pink and not the pink that’ll shock everyone, but rather a faint shade of pink that got its own name, “Tender Rose”. Although it sounds like a track from Akira Yamaoka’s Silent Hill soundtracks, this color is no good news for SE fans, unless they’re 12 and girlish.
Not discriminating anyone here, there might be a Hello Kitty fan in some of us…

A couple of weeks ago we saw Sony Ericsson Kate, yet again in
blurry pictures and without much appeal, but now it gets interesting as more details are revealed. Kate is a Cyber-Shot handset with a 3.2 MP AF camera, active lens cover, smile shutter, face detection and photo fix. That’s a photo editing studio in your pocket, if you ask me.

The new Cyber-Shot also features dedicated keys for camera and video, photo and video light, illuminated imaging shortcuts and auto rotation when viewing on-screen content.
There’s also another Cyber-shot handset going around the web right know, dubbed as the Filippa, but some claim that it’s the same thing as Kate, despite its supposed 5MP camera.

This Sony Ericsson concept is not, by any means new, as its design follows the trends of the year 2004, or 2005, but still this a hot concept of (maybe) PSP Phone. Dubbed the EF 208, this “Game Terminator” is a Sony Ericsson phone/console for gamers, that features a wide touchscreen, a camera and game controls.
I can see a fighting game on its screen and it’s surely not Tekken… Any ideas?

Designed by ChefZX from mobile-review, the
Sony Ericsson W570 concept is a pretty hot Walkman device, although a bit thick. Depending on the colour of its sliding piece, it’ll light up in green, blue, orange or mauve.
I have to say that this is quite a long handset, with the usual side volume control buttons, play/pause key beneath the screen and comfortable numeric keypad.

Sony Ericsson Kate is said to be the follow-up to the K750, but one that will very much appeal to CyberShot fans. In case you think that the device is all about a top camera and hot photo features, turns out that if features multitasking, a rare trait of modern handsets.
Add varied connectivity options and a CyberShot camera in the mix and we’ve got a hit… (might be the Sony Ericsson C912, not 100% sure though).

Kate’s specs include a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and a Xenon flash, touch-sensitive camera keys, Java and a pretty big display (bigger than C902). As for connectivity, the handset supports HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE, while the pricing and availability are mysteries for now, but rumours say that it’ll be announced this month.

SE’s not just into the megapixel race, as they prepare a 12 MP cameraphone, but they really want to change something in the photo functions compartment of their handsets. As proof stands their recent patent application that improves a camera’s zoom, by making the process automatic. It’s as easy as moving the cameraphone away from your body in order to zoom in and getting the handset closer for a zoom out.
This involves the use of accelerometers and proximity sensors, no biggie, as most modern handsets have those, but the idea is simplifying the task of taking a picture on the go.

Convergence is for me the moment when SE decides to fusion the Walkman and Cyber-shot brands into one uber-handset. Till then we’ve got this Sony Ericsson Walkman W802i concept phone designed by sunils120 from Esato, a decent looking candybar with a 5.0 megapixel camera. This camera got me thinking…
Why do the Walkman phones always borrow the Cybershots’ great cameras, but the SE cameraphones aren’t that great when it comes to music functions?

This must be the most original handset I’ve seen lately and talk about niche public segment! Well, this Sony Ericsson concept phone, designed by Christine Park is a product for snowboarders, as it can be used with your gloves on with the aid of its rotating segments. Want to access the features of the device?
Start twisting this handset’s mechanism and you’ll scroll through different menu options with the aid of “knobs”, as the designer calls them.

There’s also a large button to push in order to make your selection and the only problem I can see in the case of this concept is the long twisting you’ll have to do in order to reach the needed options plus the fact that those knobs will grow loose in time and start malfunctioning.
All in all, it’s a brilliant idea that should make it to manufacturing stage some day and into a Mountain Dew snowboarding commercial.

Sealover from Esato showed us this wonderful concept, the P7i, which pretty much reminds me of the XPERIA, but a revamped version of the smartphone. Haven’t got the list of specs for the device, but I can see the Windows Mobile button on its front, so this contradicts SE, who recently claimed that the next XPERIA will switch from WM to another OS, maybe even Android.
Fairly decent touchscreen, slim handset, useful buttons beneath the screen, an interface that promises a lot… Wondering if there’s some QWERTY action in there?

Sony Ericsson recently announced the launch of its environmentally friendly handset, the GreenHeart concept phone. The device has a pretty decent life cycle and features a bio-plastic housing, recycled plastic keypad, zero charger (3.5mW standby power) and HTML based e-manuals (no more cut down trees for paper).

Plus, the GreenHeart comes with “Ecomate”, an educational app that’s pretty much a fun game. Even the package of the phone is environmentally friendly so owning, using and recycling the handset will solve some of Mother Nature’s issues.
