After speculations of
PlayStation tablets, these devices proved to be real yesterday when Sony confirmed that it will launch these devices around Christmas time. The new models are Sony S1 and Sony S2, the first a pretty standard design, while the second adopts a dual display look, resembling Kyocera Echo.

Both devices run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and the S1 comes with a 9.4 inch display, WiFi, 3G/4G connectivity and a customized interface. PlayStation support is featured on both new slates, but the controls are on-screen and virtual, as opposed to the portable consoles launched by Sony till now. Sony S2 packs dual screens with 5.5 inch diagonals and a Tegra 2 CPU, just like the S1.
The Sony Qriocity download store will be pre-loaded on both units and we’ve heard that the S1 will also be used as a remote for Sony Bravia TVs and Blu-ray players, complete with DLNA transfer support. No info prices, although we’ve heard speculations of a $599 price tag for the S1 and $699 for the S2.

Victor Cao sent us a teaser poster for his upcoming Sony Ericsson concept, that’s previewed through the “New eXperience” motto, as shown below. Since we can only guess, this model should be an Xperia device, one focused on multimedia, maybe… More details will be revealed in the following day, according to Victor.

Who thinks this is an Android model, like I do?

Sony Ericsson P1 must have been a very loved phone, since we’ve seen a couple of
Sony Ericsson concepts that are meant to be its successors. Joining the list is the Xperia Text shown below, the creation of Esato board user pavlov’s dog.

The Xperia concept is a mere 8mm thin, even thinner than the Xperia Arc and we learn that the Xperia Text comes with a 3.7 inch 720 960 pixel IPS display and a dual core processor. Rocker keys are also on board and the handset sports a pretty business/enterprise look.

It’s heart warming to see a concept phone with a message that calls to aid of the Japan quake victims. This happens in the case of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Business design, created by Long-Nong Huang. With this disaster, we can only hope that Sony and the people of Japan will recover and shine brighter than ever.

The Xperia Business comes with a 1GHz processor, a 3 inch touchscreen and it runs Android 2.4 with a customized Sony Ericsson interface. In this time of uncertainty, one can only hope that the launch of the Xperia Play, Neo and Pro models (the latest) will go flawlessly and maybe some new devices, as well…

Unsatisfied with the current build quality of Android phones, designer
Kieron-Scott decided to create the Sony Ericsson Xperia LED concept. This Android device comes with a unibody high polished black steel body and copper plated buttons with LED indicators.

In order to get evenly illuminated shots, the Xperia LED uses the ring flash technology and a nice touch is the illuminated Sony Ericsson at the back. This seems to be a design prototype, so it’s a work in progress, accepting input from you. There’s the comments section for that, if you have suggestions.
This handset certainly looks like Nexus material and Google would probably embrace it as its own. Notice the edge to edge screen present upfront, but I’m not so sure about that curved back. Perhaps make the curve smaller?

The man who showed us a potential
new Walkman phone, Victor Cao is back, this time with a smartphone focused on a powerful camera. We’re talking about the follow-up to the Sony Ericsson Satio, dubbed the Xperia Shot. This Xperia concept runs Android 2.4 and offers 32GB of storage.

Its potential specs list includes 4G connectivity, WiFi a/b/g/n, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU and a 16 megapixel Exmor R camera with Xenon flash. The latter does HD 1080p video capture @ 60 fps and it also comes with anti-blur, Best pic mode, 5X zoom, smile and face detection.
On the front side of the Xperia Shot we find a 4.4 inch WVGA Bravia touch OLED display and on board there’s a video editing software called Creativevideo. Movie effects are also available, as well as direct YouTube uploading. Great job from Victor Cao and remember that this phone is not real, but a mere design, so keep dreaming, for now!

[Thanks Victor!]

Having the usual daily look at the Esato board, I’ve come across user Pavlov’s Dog’s design shown below. This is an Xperia flip phone with a twist. The flip QWERTY keyboard can be placed over the large touchscreen and then removed if you don’t need it. How cool and original is that?

The result is some sort of BlackBerry rival that also reminds me of an E Series Nokia, but it could be a brilliant smartphone. The only thing is that you’ll tend to break or loosen the hinge of the flip side, but I’m sure that some modifications can make this concept a real piece of work and maybe a real Sony Ericsson Xperia flip phone.

Remember the poster we showed you
here, promising the return of the Walkman phone? Well, it was a teaser for a concept, according to our source, Victor Cao, who forgot to mention this info in the first place. Well, at least we have one new device to look at. We’re dealing with a beautiful 4G Sony Ericsson Walkman smartphone dubbed the DJone.

Sony Ericsson DJone comes with a 3.6 inch multi touch OLED display, an 8 megapixel autofocus camera, capable of HD 30 fps capture and Android 2.4 as the OS. HDMI and a 1800 mAh battery also found their way on the handset, as well as a circular music touch control area, turning you into a DJ.
This touch area is placed at the bottom of the handset and it was the inspiration for the DJone name of the Walkman concept phone. Other features include the latest Walkman player, clear bass, clear audio, Sense Me and stereo speakers. I still think that Sony Ericsson Walkman can make a comeback… Do you?

[Thanks Victor Cao]

After the brilliant Xperia concepts we’ve seen lately created by J. Havrlant, he shows us another one of his works. I’m talking about the Xperia Ultima Symphony, a device that brings together the top tech features of the Xperia series and music features that remind us of the Walkman music handset series.

As you can see, the Xperia Ultima Symphony comes with a 12.1 megapixel camera with HD capture, an Exmor R sensor, a Xenon flash and a touchscreen upfront. Most likely it’s an Android phone that also brings some music keys placed under the touch display, as shown below. Would you buy this combo between a Walkman and Xperia?

The great J. Havrlant designed a nifty new Sony Ericsson concept for us, that incorporates a bit of the old-school looks of previous SE models and also brings in some novelty. The handset resembles the K770 a bit and it’s called the Xperia Ultima Classic.

As you can see, it comes with a 12.1 megapixel camera, a front numeric keyboard and what seems to be a touchscreen with capacitive buttons. Android is most likely running on the new Xperia concept, that supports HD video capture and comes with an Exmor R sensor and a powerful flash. What do you think of this combination between old school numeric keyboard and modern Android + touchscreen?
