Sony Ericsson Develops Auto Zoom Cameraphones

Loading ... Loading ... SE’s not just into the megapixel race, as they prepare a 12 MP cameraphone, but they really want to change something in the photo functions compartment of their handsets. As proof stands their recent patent application that improves a camera’s zoom, by making the process automatic. It’s as easy as moving the cameraphone away from your body in order to zoom in and getting the handset closer for a zoom out.

This involves the use of accelerometers and proximity sensors, no biggie, as most modern handsets have those, but the idea is simplifying the task of taking a picture on the go.
