In case you’re familiar with the very cool videogame S.T.A.L.K.E.R, you’ll realize that the following
steampunk concept phone fits right at home in this title. I could already envision the creeps in the shooter using such devices… Plus, this gadget comes from Mother Russia.

We have no info on its specs, or the original phone that inspired its design, but we have to admit that the concept is quite interesting, albeit it’s low end material for sure. I’ve yet to see a steampunk smartphone…

You must have noticed Jared Thompson’s last
piece of work and now we’ve got new stuff from the designer, a concept phone inspired from Bauhaus and using the same keypad layout as Samsung Soul.
This is a very simple device with a touchpad underneath the screen and interchanging menu options, plus a conventional keypad sliding out from underneath.

The icons on the phone’s touchscreen panel can change according to the functions you’re using, so you’ll be able to select items more easily. With the keypad closed, this device is very compact and not at all bulky in your pocket.
Also, we learn that the handset makes an excellent MP3 player, even rivaling the likes of Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. Its touchscreen plays the role of an LED screen for an MP3 player and in case you’re interested in the designer’s portofolio, here it is.

[Thanks Jared]

After having a look at Liam Quinn’s very
first concept phone, we realized that the designer is something special and now we get to see another one of Liam’s works. Dubbed the “triPhone”, this concept was named like this because it comes with a triangular speaker and a flash arrangement with the same shape. It all started off as an iPhone concept…

Liam claims that the new handset runs Windows Mobile 7 and comes with a multi touch interface, plus it features a 12.1 megapixel camera with dual LED or single Xenon flash. A 2MP cam is also present on the front side and it’s used for video calling, as for the rest of the specs of this phone, triPhone comes with a 4 inch widescreen multi touch OLED display, with very good contrast.
The phone’s battery life is very good and on the back side of the device you’ll find an angled OLED display, used to alert the user when incoming messages or calls arrive. There’s also a full QWERTY keyboard with a fingerprint scanner and Windows Media player button on board and even a game pad, as you can see in the picture above.
triPhone comes in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions and its camera uses features like smile shot, anti shake, mosaic, frames, fun effects, touch focus and more. Liam Quinn images that this device is created by Apple or maybe Sony Ericsson (Cybershot?) and you might want to know that it doesn’t use any external hard buttons and it only includes one port, in order to keep it thin.
What do you think about Liam’s latest concept? I say that the designer’s skills are improving.
[Thanks Liam]

There’s a reason why I like this
Nokia concept phone, although some of you might consider is a bizarre idea to say the least: I was a fan of those bulky Sony Ericsson T phones from the late nineties. This phone design, pertaining to Heikki Juvonen brings back memories and although it’ll fit badly in your pocket, it’ll look cool once you pull it out.
Now let’s see how we can keep the phone in our hand, without stressing the gripping fingers too much.

If I were to name a branding for this concept device, it would surely be HTC, although Samsung is also capable of building such a handset. Created by Aleix Ingles Elias, this concept multimedia phone features a transparent shell body and its navigator key is also a hole, used as a viewfinder.
This last aspect somehow reminds me of a certain LG design, but this handset’s still a good piece of hardware.

If you’re one of those phone owners who only want a cellphone that does what most such devices are supposed to (that is call people), you’ll surely love the following concept design.
Rune Larsen is the designer of this phone that features a pop-up transparent LCD. The keypad looks quite nice and you’re bound to lose this handset in your pocket, if you don’t wear tight jeans.

My first thought after seeing this handset was that I was checking out yet another iPhone clone, but one with thicker edges and a smaller screen. Nice to see the virtual keyboard separated from the actual screen, but we’re in the era of full QWERTY devices, so this might not appeal to the public too much.
If you ask me, this would be a perfect iPod, a video iPod to be more precise… This black and white device was designed by Philippe Barsol.

At first I thought that this was yet another Nokia Morph wannabe handset, but as soon as I realized that the actual phone is a hologram I was like “what the?”. Check out the picture below to figure out the mystery for yourself.

As you can see, we need to attach a couple of small projectors to our fingers in order to “create” the screen of the device. This concept phone also comes with a camera, but don’t ask me where that is, because I haven’t figured it out yet. It must be on one of the user’s fingers, as is the receiver, but what about that touchscreen?
Do the small accessories sense when you touch the screen? The problem with this device is that you’ll have limited finger mobility, but the idea is great and surely original. Congrats Ronnie Ishii for such a brave and crazy (in a good way) design!

And we thought touchscreens were tough enough to handle… Seems that Marc Schomann has just designed a mobile phone that will make your head spin while trying to dial the number of your close friends. Why? It will be a rather puzzle-based experience…

The handset hasn’t got a name yet, but what we do know is that it uses haptic technology and provides physical feedback while you try to make a call. In order to use this device, you’ll have to twist its circular sections till they’re aligned and they display the number you’re searching for.
After aligning the segments you’ll have to twist the first section of the handset till its LED turns greed. And that’s how you make a “Cryptex call” ladies and gentlemen.

Well hello beautiful! Where have you been all my life … and why do you look like a … console?! Yes, this is a handset for the ladies, but boy does it look like a gaming device for boys.

I’d like to feel the texture of Motorola Piccolo’s edges, as I bet it’s soft and neat to touch. I’m betting on a touchscreen phone here and I’m wondering what the deal with that space underneath the sliding mechanism is. A little hiding place for makeup tricks?
