After seeing a beautiful smartphone designed by Aleix Ingles Elias, which pretty much looked like a HTC device, we have a look at another concept created by the designer: a business female phone. Keeping some of the design traits of the previous device, this concept phone uses soft shapes and comes with intuitive interface commands and a pad with minimal visual buttons.

The handset incorporates a “generous touch display” and a QWERTY physical keyboard, while the shell of the phone has a metallic feel. The keypad is all rubbery and the back of the device is adorned with soft touch black rubber, for a better tactile experience.

As I was saying in a post about the Peugeot 360 concept, this “360″ branding is all over the place now, like on consoles, tooth paste and Yahoo services. Phones are probably the only ones lacking this branding, but there’s a new “sheriff” in town, with the above-mentioned branding. Designed by Eno Setiawan and looking hot, the 360 Touch Phone is a promising smartphone.

It comes with a rotating screen, touch pad control, touch pen, a camera with flash, an accelerometer and wireless charging. And for the ones that’ll jump at my throat for comparing concepts with the iPhone, this is NOT an iPhone clone.

This concept smartphone is one thick Photoshop design, but it got me wondering… Is that QWERTY keypad sliding from the sides of the device or is it a whole body at the back of the handset spinning and coming into its rightful place?

I’m tempted to think it’s the second, but this mechanism makes the phone rather bulky, so it won’t appeal to the masses, unless you’re a BlackBerry fan.

The concept smartphone below reminds me of the “What you see is what you get” device, except for the fact that this handset is not a cameraphone, but rather a phone designed with busy folks in mind. Created by Thierry Melon, the dual screen concept phone is a “slide-up” device with a small main screen and a pretty decent touchscreen beneath the sliding part.
There’s also a keypad in the mix, plus a stylus, as for the design, the device seems a tad too thick for my taste.

We’ve seen a lot of wood-based phones lately, either using wood panelling, made out of bamboo, or old-fashioned wood. This time we’re dealing with a Wood smartphone, designed by Gernot Oberfell, from the UK. This concept took part in the Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2008 and it uses WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) made out of 80% natural fibres.

The smartphone’s buttons and caps are made of biodegradable plastic, so it’s extremely easy to save the Planet and stay high-tech on the go. Also, it seems that as time goes by, the phone will look and feel nicer, since the wood will start biodegrading (in a good way). This phone’s so eco-friendly that beavers could buy dams out of it!
