Frank Tobias created the
Sony Xperia Eterion concept that you’ve all seen a while ago on our website and now he’s back with the detailed view on the handset. We can finally have a look at its back, profile and a list of imagined specifications. This phone render is associated with a 4.5 inch Full HD Crystal LED touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Xperia Eterion has 4 touch buttons on the lower side and their symbols will appear under them when they’re needed. I guess that this could upset Google, that ordered all makers of Android 4.0 compatible hardware and software to give up the Menu keys and other extra buttons they had, both virtual and physical. Back to this 2012 Xperia concept, it also comes with a 16 megapixel camera with LED flash and a very original design of the cam + flash area, that’s minimalistic and elegant. It’s almost like a little keyhole…
I guess that the three dots above the Sony Ericsson symbol are the speakers here, but I may be mistaking. You must know that the Sony Xperia Eterion runs Android 4.0 and the designer also promised a version with Android 5.0 Jellybean in the future. Other specs include 16GB of internal memory, a quad core 1.4GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. Frank Tobias hopes that this Xperia design is OK… I say it’s more than OK, it’s great!

Frank Tobias just published a new
Sony Xperia design that’s pretty mysterious, since there are no specs attached to it. However, the designer promised to unveil new Sony Xperia Eterion pictures as soon as he creates more. In the meantime you can have a look at this smartphone with straight lines and an interesting set of 4 shortcut buttons below the display.

The Xperia Eterion is referred to as a flagship model, with CrystalLED full HD display and most likely a 12 megapixel camera. The screen here is a 4.5 inch unit, I guess and this model may well be a quad core unit, but I’m only speculating, so don’t take my word for granted. It would be cool if those buttons at the bottom were actually tiny capacitive screens with 3D projections of their functions… of course that’s only a dream of mine, but Frank is free to elaborate on that idea if he likes it.
I can see that using NovaThor processors will become a trend on Sony Xperia devices, as shown by recent leaks, so I guess that this handset also has one. Can anyone tell me the difference between NovaThor, a Snapdragon and a TI OMAP processor?

We’ve just been teased with a fresh image of a Sony Ericsson Xperia concept dubbed Phenos. This device looks a bit like the Xperia Arc, as far as the back side reveals and there’s also something about it that reminds of the PlayStation console… It could be a gaming phone with PlayStation features or just another Android with high hopes…

I’ll leave you to judge what this model is in the Comments section. If I were to speculate I’d say this is a dual core smartphone with 8 or 12 megapixel camera with single LED flash, 4.2 inch display with 720p resolution and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as OS. Also, there’s a new TimeScape and MediaScape version applied here. Other than that we get 16GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and 1GB of RAM.
The CPU should be a dual core TI OMAP with 1.2GHz frequency… Frank Tobias created this device and feel free to click his name to see more of his concept smartphones.

You can find all of the
Frank Tobias Sony Ericsson concepts on our website and rest assured that there are quite a bunch. We’re dealing with a Walkman phone here with musical features, a large touchscreen and probably a very good camera. The design is very Xperia-like, if you ask me.

Sony Ericsson Beat is an Android model, it packs a front camera and most likely the TrackID, Walkman Player and other similar audio features, specific to the Walkman models. It’s interesting to see the word “Beat” or “Beats” being used by more and more music devices. On the one hand we’ve got HTC Who bought the Beats by Dre company and now offers handsets with great audio systems and now we’ve got this Sony Ericsson Beat music phone.
Plus, there’s also the HP TouchPad tablet with Beats audio… If there’s any link between this Sony Ericsson Walkman concept and the Beats by Dre brand, we should expect a fantastic set of earphones to be bundled with it. Of course, since this is only a design, there’s no telling when this model will come to life.

Worry not, as this is one of those weekend posts not meant to stir up the mind too much… What we have here is a piece of work by Frank Tobias, the teaser of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 concept phone. This is the device’s box, packaging, whatever you want to call it.

Frank continues working on the device, that may include Android 3.x Honeycomb, if we judge by the blue image on the box. I can spot a semicircular Home button at the bottom part and maybe there are two more in there: Menu and Back, as usual for Android. I’m guessing that there’s an 8 or 12MP camera at the back and at least a dual core CPU inside.
What’s your lucky guess?

Frank Tobias created his vision of a new PlayStation phone, one with a dual core CPU and a front side made of mineral glass. This includes the display that’s practically unbreakable now.

The OS hasn’t been chosen yet for this smartphone, so it only shows wallpapers right now. I’m curious to see how the PlayStation features are integrated into this full touch model and what platform is chosen for it. Android would be a good idea, especially since Windows Phone 7 is the equivalent of Xbox and it doesn’t fit with the PlayStation experience.
Maybe MeeGo can be a nice idea or even a custom Sony Ericsson OS… in case they’ll create such a thing.

Frank Tobias decided to stay away from Android for a while and created the Sony Ericsson Xperia aero concept. This light and ergonomic smartphone comes with a user-friendly interface and it skips Android in favor of some other OS that the designer didn’t want to mention.

I can speculate that the OS is Windows Phone 7, since Frank has been receiving suggestions towards this platform. Also, it could be MeeGo or webOS, but let’s see what he decides. As far as specs go, the Xperia Aero comes with an 8.1 megapixel camera at the back and a 3.2 megapixel camera at the front for videocalls.
Bonus, you get a new shot of the Xperia Smart, designed by the same Frank Tobias and pictured below:

After the
Sony Ericsson Xperia Ape, Frank Tobias brings us the Xperia Smart concept. This is yet another Honeycomb smartphone with a 3.9 inch Reality Display, based on the Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology.

On the inside we find a 2GHz dual core processor, plus 1GB of RAM and 8 to 64GB of internal memory. Sony Ericsson Xperia smart supports WiFi, DLNA and NFC connectivity and features an 8.1 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R sensor, LED flash and 1080p full HD video recording. Videocalling will be handled through a 3.2 megapixel front camera.
Which model do you like better? Ape or Smart?

As usual,
Frank Tobias teases us before revealing his new
Sony Ericsson concept. This time, the device below doesn’t even have a name, so I entered the Esato board and suggested the named Hachinosu, meaning “beehive” in Japanese. Why? Keep readying to find out.

For one, I can imagine this is a Honeycomb smartphone with reasonable up to date specs, so Beehive fits the operating system. The form factor got me thinking of a recent leak, showing the supposed image of the Google Nexus 3. So it’s either the quad core Nexus 3, or a Honeycomb smartphone with early 2011 specs.
What name would you use?

Frank Tobias created the
Sony Ericsson X3 concept we’ve shown you here and now he’s back with more shots of the device. You can find them on
his blog or check out the pics below for extra design details. This is a 2.5GHz dual core smartphone with a 10 megapixel camera, in case you’re wondering.

The screen upfront is a 4.2 inch touchscreen and the device seems to show an impressive speaker at the bottom, if I’m not mistaking. This is clearly Android material, if you ask me and a smartphone that will probably become real in 6 months or so. Till then we’re left with the design and wishful thinking.
Some may say that this would also make a great Windows Phone device, but I guess it’s up to the designer to decide, right?
