No news about the Nokia Tube phone yet, but any concept device bearing the
Nokia logo and featuring a touchscreen is a candidate to the title of “most wanted iPhone rival”. Nokia SURV1 is a concept phone that targets “outdoorish” users, so it’s a shock resistant and water proof device that also features a touchscreen.

Nokia SURV1 only relies on the touch interface, when it comes to input and it includes an MP3 player and a GPS. The resilient display can be used like a flashlight at any time. I’m still waiting for the Tube, though…

Nokia 101 is yet another product for 2015, seemingly the ideal year for passing to a new generation of mobile phones.
Morph is also destined for that year, but let’s see what Nokia 101 brings new. Designed by Giandaniele Asquini and the product of research and collaboration with Nokia, this device uses magnets placed on 3 sides of the phone.

These magnets create new and original hinges and allow the handset to morph into an address book, a normal phone or various other devices. The magnet-based mechanism allows the Nokia 101 display to rotate freely and I wonder if it’s a touchscreen or it’s based on E-paper technology (or maybe both?).

As you can see, Nokia 101 is perfect for web surfing and it features handwriting recognition, also being the ideal handset for messaging. Last, but not least, you can admire the phone as it follows the latest trends and “collides” with another Nokia 101, with the aid of magnets, creating a bigger display, used to play games like Need for Speed or watch quality TV.
Also, it’ll create a decent notebook, for you to write your homework on or just blog. These designs were exposed at the Air Gallery in London in May 2006.

This great concept starts with denial from
Nokia, as it seems we’re not going to see this phone getting released. Too bad that N98 has to remain a Photoshop image, since we’ve yet to see a decent touchscreen rival branded Nokia for that over-hyped iPhone.

The list of specs of this N Series swan song goes something like:
- 7.2 MP camera (Carl Zeiss optics) featuring 5X optical zoom and 20x digital zoom
- video capture at 30 fps and 720 x 576 resolution
- 3.5″ display, 16.7 million colors and 640 x 480 pixels
- GPS
- Symbian S70 3rd Edition
- 3D Graphics Card (NVIDIA maybe?)
- front camera for videoconferencing (640 x 480 pixels)
- Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi
- HSDPA
- Nokia PC Suite
