Esato board user Shane A. Bygrave has created a brand new
Sony Ericsson concept phone, that looks a bit like a combo between an XPERIA device and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset.

There’s a 5 megapixel camera at the back and the mystery Compass feature on its specs list, that Shane promised to reveal later. What do you think about this design? What Sony Ericsson series would this device fit in?

Fancy a multitouch device branded
Sony Ericsson and running the Android OS? What if it had a 12 megapixel camera on board with Xenon flash? Too bad that this is only a concept and I’m talking about Sony Ericsson Tatino, created by Esato board user tob!s.

The handset is a high end phone that’s part of the Entertainment Unlimited Series and it also comes with WiFi, a minimalist design and probably tons of internal memory.

We usually praise the designs of folks who have just started creating concept phones, since they’re promising and they need a boost. However, we’re very harsh when it comes to official prototypes and patents belonging to major companies, like
Sony Ericsson. What were they thinking when they created the concept bracelet phone below?

Described in the patent app as a “Mobile Terminal”, this handset is meant to be worn as a bracelet and may remind some of you of watch phones. It can also be used in a two hand mode, for faster typing.
Such a strange design is only meant to stay on the drawing board and SE are not crazy enough to launch such a crazy device during this recession… we hope.

Shane A. Bygrave or, as he’s known on the Esato board, echo.shane has just shown the world 2 brand new Sony Ericsson concepts, Nene, a handset that’s part of the Unlimited Entertainment series and SE Wallet, a concept we’ve seen before
in a teaser.
Sony Ericsson Nene incorporates a 8.1 megapixel camera and I have to say that I love its colors and design.

The designer has promised that he’ll soon publish the specs and more pics of the concepts, but till then I can notice a pretty decent screen on the front side of the Nene phone. The keys below it seem touch sensitive, but I’m just guessing here, so don’t throw stones just yet.
Moving on to the Sony Ericsson Wallet, or the Z230-w12, as the designer calls it, I have to say that I don’t quite get what this product is, but we’ll get more info in the following days. It could actually be a wallet… like its name says.

We’ve seen the real (or not)
XPERIA X2 pictured last week and now there’s also a list of specs associated with the picture. However, after having a look at the Esato board, we’ve stumbled upon a fresh XPERIA X2 concept phone, created by user S4k1s.
The image below makes it resemble the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic quite a bit, but you’ll see that it’s got more than meets the eye.

Turns out that there’s a sliding keypad underneath that beautiful screen (touchscreen maybe?) and we’ve got no info on this concept, for now. Moving on to the real X2, we’ve heard that it comes with an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and 30 fps VGA video recording, plus a 3.5 inch touchscreen display (WVGA OLED) and an accelerometer.
XPERIA X2’s specs list also includes GPS, aGPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a better processor than the one on the X1, 512MB RAM, Windows Mobile 6.5 (custom) and XPERIA Panels with support for Windows Mobile 7 upgrade. Don’t forget to have a look at the real image showing the X2 in black, at the end of the article (below).

Razec’s series of 3
Sony Ericsson concept phones ends with the superb Sony Ericsson Shadow, the “Ultimate Device for Ultimate Geeks”, as he calls it. Shadow comes with a clamshell design, a textured metal back with a piano black finish, a side flipping mechanism and contour design.
The glowing Android logo shows that this smartphone runs the Google OS and it’s a pretty neat and elegant detail.

Sony Ericsson Shadow packs a 176 x 36 AMOLED monochrome display (capacitive touch sensitive screen), plus a 480 x 320 pixel TFT capacitive touchscreen with mineral glass protection and chrome bezel. The handset runs Android OS 2.0 and also features a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.1 Stereo speaker subwoofer (wow!), plus HSUPA, WiMAX, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and GPS.
There’s also a great 12.1 megapixel camera on board with a CMOS Exmor image sensor, a Sony Lens-G 3x optical zoom, dual LED PhotoFlash, gesture imaging, smile shutter, camera/video switch, touch autofocus and portrait camera GUI.

The smartphone’s camera also supports stereo video recording, HD video recording (720p 24 fps) and hardware decoding thanks to nVidia Tegra. Moving on to more interesting hardware, we learn that Razec’s new concept uses an nVidia Tegra APX 2500 SOC (System On a Chip) chipset, nVidia GoForce graphics, 256MB DDR SDRAM and 16GB SLC Flash memory.
Shadow’s specs list includes a 600 MHz CPU clock, 300 MHz DSP, 2.1 surround sound speakers and a Sony S-Master DSP and amplifier. There’s also a 1500 mAh Lithium Polymer battery under the case and this is probably the hottest concept phone I’ve seen in the last months. What do you think?

Sometimes I get the feeling that we’re becoming a
Sony Ericsson concept phones blog, since we’ve gathered dozens, if not hundreds of SE designs here… The list of such neat phones continues, this time with a fresh design from RKSD (Rew Kown), a new Esato board user.
Known as Sony Ericsson HD Pro, this smartphone concept incorporates a 3.8 inch OLED touchscreen display with a 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

It supports GSM/UMTS/HSDPA connectivity and it comes with the Symbian Foundation OS (Industrial Interface), plus a 770 MHz Texas Instruments processor. Its internal memory is 16GB and the specs list is completed by an 8.1 megapixel camera, HD video recording at 30 fps, Bluetooth 2.1+A2DP, WiFi and support for Microsoft Office documents.

Esato board member and
Sony Ericsson concept designer Razec created no less than 3 new concepts, making up for his absence and they’re all great looking devices. Now, we have a look at Sony Ericsson Kaoru, a handset that comes with a 3 inch capacitive touchscreen, the Symbian platform with Panel UI and a TI-OMAP 400 MHz CPU.

The phone’s specs list also includes 8GB of Flash memory, a full QWERTY keyboard, an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, VGA video capture, 160MB RAM and a microSDHC card slot. Sony Ericsson Kaoru supports 3.5G HSUPA/HSDPA connectivity, WiMax, Bluetooth 3.0, MiniUSB and also comes with Java MIDP 3.0 with Project Capuchin API and pre installed StyleTap and NET60 3.0.
Kaoru is also pictured in 5 different colours, as you can see below: Electric Blue, Shiny Gold, Teenage Red, Mineral Grey and Leaf Green.

Esato board member echo.shane aka concept phone creator Shane A. Bygrave wishes a
Sony Ericsson handset with a decent QWERTY keyboard and a hot camera at the back. We’ve got no QWERTY Cyber-shot to look at in real life, so the designer created his own concept: Sony Ericsson C918 Cyber-shot.
The handset features an 8.1 megapixel camera, geotagging, aGPS, Xenon flash, face detection and touch focus.

There’s also a full touch TFT display on board, Walkman 3.0, Wi-Fi, photo fix, shake control, DLNA, the above-mentioned sliding QWERTY keyboard and Symbian 5th Edition.

You might already know that Sony Ericsson announced yesterday 3 brand new handsets belonging to the Entertainment Unlimited Series: Aino, Satio and Yari. Well, the most famous of the three seems to be Sony Ericsson Aino and the designer of some of the
best SE concept phones we’ve seen has already found a design flaw of the device and corrected it.
I’m talking about our good friend J. Havrlant and his Aino design… version 2.0 let’s say:

The problem found by J. Havrlant is the fact that you must slide the keypad if you want to receive a call. The decision to place the buttons on the sliding part was probably made by Sony Ericsson, in order to make the screen bigger… sacrifices, sacrifices.
What do you say? I’d go with the designer’s choice, the remade version.
