There aren’t many details about the concept phone below, except for that Sony and Orange branding, but I have to say that the Memory Phone’s design looks spectacular. It was created by Dominique Herbillon and to me it seems a state of the art device for social networkers who like to take pics, tag them and post them on their profile pages.

As you can notice, the phone’s input system is based on a yellow scroll bar that gives you access to the device’s main functions. I’m really curios if the handset’s display is a touchscreen as the above-mentioned input method is kind of limited. Also, I can imagine that the rotating part of the device includes its camera and hopefully it’s got a resolution larger than 2 megapixels.

The cellphone was invented with portable means of communication in mind, with a focus on the audio side. Now, as keypads get better and touchscreen becomes a standard, we’ll have to face the fact that some people are more into texting and less into calling. Those chatters will love the “Ultimate Chat Machine” concept, you can see below.

Designed by Jin Woo Han for PPWK group & red-lab, this device comes in different shapes and sizes, but they all have something in common: sliding QWERTY keypads and touchscreens. The Ultimate Chat Machine also include rubber coating, in order to increase the grip of the handset, while the key placement is perfect for hours and hours of instant messaging.

Sony Ericsson Smartphone Concept Is Not an April’s Fools Joke

Esato board user sunils120 makes our day brighter with a Sony Ericsson smartphone concept, that reminds me of the P3i design I’ve shown you a couple of days ago. Well, it’s definitely a P series phone, with a pretty big touchscreen and music controls on the front side.

Something tells me that there’s a keypad underneath that touchscreen, unless we’re dealing with one of Sony Ericsson’s iPhone rivals, but that’s highly unlikely. Sunils120 has let us know that there will be more pics, so we’ll let you know as soon as he posts them.

The gaming folks of Kotaku have come up with a neat PSP 2 design contest, which showed us what people think of the next generation of Sony’s portable consoles. A couple of them are interesting to say the least, but my favourite is the very first one you can admire below. It’s got a touchscreen, a 16GB flash drive, a webcam, a PS2 emulator and tons of other features, but still… it’s no .

Another concept I digged was this “bogus design” below, created by Torokun. This PSP 2 features a touchscreen with a multi touch sensor, an 852 x 480 and 16:9 display to be more precise and a pretty neat sliding mechanism. It may remind some of you of what Nokia was trying to do back in the days with some of its handsets, but this concept goes far beyond and still manages to include that UMD drive we don’t need, plus the useful memory slot.

Check out Kotaku’s site for more PSP 2 designs and you’ll probably see a video of these designs in here tomorrow!

PSP Phone Patent Goes iPhone

After seeing dozens of , we finally stumbled upon a patent of the device, only to be surprised by how much it resembles the original iPhone patent. Sony’s patent application is called “Orientation based multiple mode mechanically vibrated touchscreen display“, which pretty much defines what you can see below.

PSP Phone Patent Goes iPhone

We could be dealing with a special Sony Ericsson handset, featuring a touchscreen display, accelerometer (or some sort of orientation system) and haptics feedback. However, before comparing this device to the iPhone, we should be taking into account the fact that Sony filed this patent application on August 30, 2006, months before the launch of Apple’s device.

Does this look like a plausible PSP Phone to you? For me it spells “Nintendo DS” a bit, but that may be my usual copycat paranoia.

Don’t think of this concept handset as yet another iPhone wannabe and the next best touchscreen device! It may have a neat design, metal accents and the classic camera, but it also comes with a detachable Bluetooth headset, as an original touch.

Mooon+ Phone Comes With a Bluetooth Surprise

Designed by Sunman Kwon, this beauty pretty much solves the problem of the cellphone owners who always lose their headsets by incorporating such an accessory into the phone’s mouth piece. Also, you should know that the headset gets charged while it’s attached to the phone, solving any potential power issues.

Just don’t let it slip into your mouth and in case it does, pray that the previous user’s ears were clean…

This conceptual device, created by RKS Design is great looking and slim enough to catch a trendsetter’s eye. Notice that iPhone-ish interface on its touchscreen? The tiny antenna is old-school (in a good way), while the phone’s shape reminds me of a walkie talkie. Hmm, is it just me or does this concept resemble the good old Sony Ericsson T20 a bit?

Mimique Concept, Designed by RKS

I don’t quite understand where the name “Mimique” comes from, but my theory is this: the phone can mimic the colour of its surrounding environment. Now that would be something, wouldn’t it?

Gamer Phone Inspires LG’s Design Team

While Sony and Samsung are showing us concepts and patents of their future gaming phones, Nokia’s still perfecting that N-GAGE platform and seemingly there’s no other competitor in this console/handset niche. Thank God for concepts, then! What you can see below is Gamer Phone, designed by RKS Design in order to “inspire LG’s internal design teams” as they state.

Gamer Phone Inspires LGs Design Team

This beauty resembles the PSP a bit, only that it’s thinner and the display goes deeper into the body of the handset, plus it’s a touchscreen. Just hope that it comes with a neat and user-friendly interface, but for now I’m just wondering how am I going to hold this device pressed to my ear when I’m on the phone. Oh well, I’ll just use a headset…

Mystery iPhone Clone, Designed by Spyker

Spyker got its own booth at Mobile World Congress 2008 and it was there to showcase some sort of iPhone clone, but they weren’t too keen on sharing their innovation with the rest of the world. We don’t know the specs of this handset, except for that nasty keypad. I said “nasty” as the “Home” button is placed straight in the middle of the other buttons, while the keys are too close to the edge of the device. A full QWERTY keyboard would have been much more welcome, from Spyker if you ask me…
