Believe it or not, today we managed to score some renders of the iPhone 16 Pro, which seem to show minor changes from the iPhone 15 Pro series. There’s still a bit of waiting to do till September 2024, but here we are.
The folks of MacRumors have scored these renders and they’re based on prototypes of the iPhone 16 Pro, which is codenamed Diablo and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is codenamed Lightning. Both devices are apparently identical to their predecessors, with the largest change being the bigger screen diagonal and the extra capacitive button, which is a Capture button on the right side of the Power button.
The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to offer a 6.27 inch diagonal and its preliminary dimensions are 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25 mm. It weighs 194 grams. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will pack a 6.85 inch screen and is expected to measure 163 x 77.58 x 8.25 mm, while weighing 225 grams. Both 16 Pro models are expected to get updated 48 megapixel ultrawide cameras and the smaller iPhone 16 Pro will also benefit from a 5x optical zoom tetraprism zoom lens.
The new Capture button is a bit of a weird decision, seeing how 10 years ago Jony Ive, inspired by his work with Steve Jobs keep looking for a way to make iPhones flush, sans buttons, sans ports, without any sort of protruding parts or holes. Anyway, it’s basically a camera button.
