Honor has given us the clearest look yet at the Magic 9 Pro Max, revealing a dramatically redesigned camera system, a rich Moss Green finish and some seriously ambitious photography hardware. The flagship will officially debut in China on September 28, and unlike previous Magic phones, it moves away from the familiar centrally positioned “Eye of Muse” camera design.
The back is now dominated by a wide rectangular camera section with a huge textured circular ring positioned to the left. Inside are the periscope camera, LED flash and ARRI branding, while two additional sensors sit vertically alongside it. The ring itself has a grille-like texture and almost looks like a physical control dial, although Honor hasn’t confirmed whether it actually rotates. Markings visible around it include “1/1.28-inch”, “3° OIS” and “1:1.57”, providing some early clues about the imaging hardware underneath.

More importantly, Honor has now confirmed that the Magic 9 series will feature a dual 200MP camera setup developed around its imaging partnership with ARRI. The Magic 9 Pro Max is expected to combine a 200MP main camera using a large 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, reportedly based on a 1/1.4-inch sensor with optical stabilization. That would make the phone one of the most aggressive camera flagships of 2026, particularly when paired with Honor and ARRI’s work on cinematic color and video technologies.

Honor is also taking a page from dedicated cameras with its new Master Photography Kit. Two external teleconverters are being prepared: a compact G200 200mm lens weighing just 88 grams and a much more ambitious G500 500mm teleconverter. They attach around the phone’s oversized camera ring and are designed to extend its optical reach without relying entirely on digital zoom. Honor hasn’t yet detailed pricing or exactly how these accessories interact with the internal periscope camera.

The Moss Green finish completes what is easily one of Honor’s more distinctive flagship designs in recent years. Instead of trying to hide the increasingly large hardware required for mobile photography, the Magic 9 Pro Max effectively builds its entire visual identity around it. We’ll find out the complete specifications, pricing and availability when the Magic 9 family launches on September 28.
