Huawei FreeClip 2 spotted in real-life leak

Huawei’s most unusual earbuds are about to get a sequel. The upcoming Huawei FreeClip 2 has just appeared in a real-life photo leak, giving us a clearer look at the design tweaks and a fresh color option before the official September 24 unveiling in China. The earbuds are expected to debut alongside the Huawei Watch GT 6 series, with a possible global reveal scheduled for September 19.

The leaked shots showcase the FreeClip 2 in a striking sky-blue finish, joining the expected black and white variants. The overall design language remains consistent with the first-gen FreeClip — Huawei’s signature “Acoustic Ball” and “Comfort Bean” elements are still connected by the C-shaped bridge that loops around the ear. This unconventional approach allows the earbuds to rest outside the ear canal while staying secure and lightweight.

What’s new is in the details. The C-bridge now features a matte finish, trading in the glossy look of the original for something sleeker and less prone to fingerprints. The bridge itself seems to have a striped texture, likely added to improve grip and relieve pressure during longer listening sessions — addressing one of the key complaints about comfort from early adopters of the first FreeClip.

Huawei hasn’t revealed specs yet, but upgrades in sound quality, battery life, and software features like noise cancellation or adaptive EQ are expected. With the FreeClip 2, Huawei seems intent on refining its boldest audio experiment yet, positioning the earbuds as a stylish and more comfortable alternative to rivals in the open-ear space — including Nothing’s Ear (a) and other lightweight designs.
