Motorola Edge 70 Max leaks in renders with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Motorola appears ready to expand its Edge 70 lineup with a fifth model. Fresh renders published by Digital Citizen reveal the upcoming Motorola Edge 70 Max, a new flagship-tier smartphone expected to sit above the current Edge 70 family.

The Edge 70 series already includes the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Fusion+ and Edge 70 Pro+. Previous rumors suggested Motorola was also developing an Edge 70 Ultra, but that device has yet to materialize. Instead, the company may be preparing the Edge 70 Max as its new top-tier offering.

According to the leak, the handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, though it is expected to use the standard version rather than the higher-end Elite variant. The device is reportedly launching in three color options: Onyx Black, Sage Green and Glacier Blue.

The renders also point to a triple-camera setup led by a 50 MP Sony Lytia main sensor, alongside an AMOLED display. Like other recent Edge models, the Edge 70 Max is expected to feature MIL-STD-810H durability certification and an IP rating for water and dust resistance.

While battery capacity and charging speeds remain unknown, the renders suggest support for wireless charging. That has fueled speculation that the Edge 70 Max could effectively replace the rumored Edge 70 Ultra, especially given the shared flagship-class processor.

Battery life could become one of the device’s biggest selling points. The current Edge 70 Fusion packs a 7,000 mAh battery, while the Edge 70 Pro offers a 6,500 mAh cell. If Motorola wants to justify the “Max” branding, the upcoming model may need to match or exceed those figures.

Motorola has yet to confirm the existence of the Edge 70 Max, so all specifications should be treated as unofficial until the company makes an announcement.
