Fresh renders of the upcoming Motorola Razr 70 Ultra suggest the company could ditch the visible selfie camera altogether, raising questions about whether it’s been moved under the display or removed from sight entirely.
Recent leaks show the Razr 70 Ultra in new finishes like Pantone Cocoa Wood and Orient Blue Alcantara, but the real surprise isn’t the color palette — it’s what’s missing. There’s no obvious front-facing camera on the internal display.
That’s a shift from earlier renders, where the selfie shooter was clearly visible. The change has sparked speculation that Motorola might be experimenting with an under-display camera. If true, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen this approach — but it hasn’t always worked well.
Devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series previously tried hiding the selfie camera beneath the screen, often at the cost of image quality. Samsung eventually reverted to more traditional solutions on later models, suggesting the trade-offs weren’t worth it.
Aside from the camera mystery, the Razr 70 Ultra looks like a fairly typical next-gen flip foldable on paper. It’s expected to feature a 7-inch AMOLED inner display with a 165Hz refresh rate, paired with a 4-inch external AMOLED screen — a setup that continues Motorola’s push for usable cover displays.
Under the hood, leaks point to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, along with configurations offering 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. On the back, a dual-camera system with two 50MP sensors is rumored, while software duties should be handled by Android 16.
Battery capacity is said to land somewhere between 4,700mAh and 5,000mAh, which would be a welcome bump for a foldable in this category.
