Motorola has started teasing a wide-format foldable phone just days after Apple introduced the iPhone Duo. The still-unnamed device briefly appears at the end of a promotional video, following the regular Razr Fold and matching recently leaked design sketches. If the teaser is any indication, book-style foldables are about to get shorter, wider and considerably more crowded.
The phone is deliberately hidden in shadow, but Motorola reveals enough to confirm its compact proportions. Partially unfolded, it has a noticeably wider aspect ratio than conventional models such as the Galaxy Z Fold8. It also appears to feature a camera bar stretching across the entire rear panel, which could help the device sit more securely on a table instead of wobbling around its camera bump. The extra room may also allow Motorola to fit more ambitious hardware, potentially including a telephoto camera.
Motorola isn’t being subtle about its intended rival. The company accompanied the teaser with the line, “New in their hands. Iconic in ours,” an obvious jab at Apple and its first-generation foldable. Motorola can at least back up the swagger with years of Razr development, although building clamshell phones doesn’t automatically guarantee that its first wide book-style model will be a hit.

No specifications, launch date or official product name have been announced. Previous rumors referred to the device as the Razr Fold Wide and suggested it could arrive within the coming months. With the teaser campaign now underway, Motorola will likely reveal more before too long.
