Remember the Nokia N9? It was the start of a whole design language and lineup, that generated the Lumias eventually and let the rounded “Oreo” camera as an inheritance most recently adopted by the Nokia 7.2 and OnePlus 7T. Now we go back to the Nokia N9, which was copied by the iPod Nano even and we see there’s a new remake: Nokia N9 2020.
The creation of designer Antony Andreas, this device takes a lot of the original’s design and expands its functionality. This time, the Nokia N9 is made of unibody aluminum and has a more refined design. It remains angular at core, but also rounded in profile. We still have the curved corners of the screen, a minimal earpiece and some lovely new colors. There’s a metal frame here and the camera is discretely pill shaped at the back.
I actually prefer it against the “Oreo” approach, but that depends on the taste. What’s vital is that such a camera can’t bulk too much, otherwise it spoils the whole back side. An Oreo may bulk up, taking more space and also resting half of the device’s weight on that “edge” on a flat surface. People have to learn to fall in love with the Nokia N9 again. One of the most underrated phones ever… Also, I love the pink hue and want the Lumia 1020 yellow back.
I think we may see this phone become a reality once the Nokia N9 becomes 10 years old next year.
