Samsung’s next smartwatch lineup is starting to take shape ahead of its expected unveiling next month. New leaked renders of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 have surfaced online, offering an early glimpse at the company’s upcoming wearables and suggesting that Samsung is focusing on refinement rather than a complete redesign.
According to information shared by tipster Galaxy Techie, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will largely preserve the distinctive “squircle” design introduced with the first-generation Ultra model. The leaked sketches show a familiar rugged chassis, but with a few notable tweaks. Samsung is reportedly reducing the display bezels, which could result in a larger usable screen area without increasing the watch’s overall footprint. The side controls may also receive adjustments, while the signature orange Quick Button could adopt a more subtle appearance, using an orange outline instead of a fully coloured finish.
The images currently circulating appear to be software-generated illustrations rather than photographs of an actual device. Because of that, some details may change before Samsung reveals the final retail version. Even so, the leak suggests that Samsung is choosing to evolve the Ultra’s design rather than reinvent it, a strategy similar to what the company has done with several recent flagship products.
The leak also mentions the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9, which could receive a noticeably boxier design than previous standard Galaxy Watch models. Interestingly, Samsung is said to be skipping a Classic variant this year, leaving the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as the main smartwatch options in the lineup. Both models are expected to arrive with redesigned watch bands, fresh watch faces and new software features powered by One UI 9 Watch, based on Wear OS 7.
Battery capacities are rumored to reach 800 mAh on the Ultra 2 and 400 mAh on the Galaxy Watch 9. Samsung is expected to officially unveil the new wearables during its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London, alongside the next generation of foldable smartphones.
