Samsung’s next budget smartphone has surfaced well ahead of its official debut. Freshly leaked renders of the upcoming Galaxy A18 reveal a handset that stays true to Samsung’s established Galaxy A-series design language, while introducing a few subtle refinements to the chassis.
The images, published by Smartphone Checker in collaboration with well-known tipster OnLeaks, are reportedly based on official CAD files provided to accessory manufacturers. As a result, they are considered a fairly reliable preview of what Samsung’s entry-level device will look like when it launches later this year.
At first glance, the Galaxy A18 looks very similar to the Galaxy A17. The phone keeps the familiar vertically aligned triple-camera setup on the rear, although the camera module now appears to blend more smoothly into the back panel. The device also retains Samsung’s flat frame design with rounded corners, while the front features an Infinity-U notch for the selfie camera and noticeably thick bezels, especially along the bottom edge.
According to the leak, the Galaxy A18 measures 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84 mm. That makes it slightly slimmer than its predecessor, suggesting Samsung has made minor refinements without dramatically altering the overall form factor. As expected for a budget handset, the power button and volume rocker remain positioned on the right side, while the flat edges follow the design direction adopted across much of Samsung’s recent smartphone portfolio.
The biggest changes may actually be found under the hood. Previous reports indicate that Samsung plans to offer both 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy A18, but neither model is expected to rely on an Exynos processor. Instead, the 4G variant is rumored to feature a MediaTek chipset, while the 5G model could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. If accurate, this would represent a notable departure from Samsung’s recent strategy of using Exynos chips across much of its affordable lineup.
While Samsung has yet to confirm any specifications or a launch date, the steady stream of leaks suggests that the Galaxy A18 announcement may not be far away. More details regarding its display, cameras, battery capacity and pricing are expected to emerge over the coming weeks, giving us a clearer picture of Samsung’s next affordable Galaxy smartphone.
