Samsung Galaxy S22 First Dummy Units, Molds Are Here

Last week Samsung’s upcoming flagships leaked in renders: Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22. Now we get to see the very first dummies for the Galaxy S22, courtesy of CoverPigtou and Xleaks7. Let’s check them out and by the way we also have a video at the bottom of the article.

We don’t get many surprises here, as the Galaxy S22 is quite similar to the Galaxy S21. The earpiece is in the same spot and the Power and volume buttons are also in the same place. There’s an USB-C port at the bottom and also a speaker grille next to it. The bezels aren’t as slim as expected, even though we’ve heard there will be a cut there. However, the manufacturing of the mold may have affected this thickness.

Such aluminum molds are usually used by case makers ahead of a phone’s release, in order to create more accurate accessories. The only big design change we see here is that the camera island doesn’t connect to the metal frame with a curved piece of metal, but rather is kept angular and separate. There’s a 90 degree angle from the frame to the camera. The camera module is a wraparound one, around the top left corner.

Specs-wise, the changes from S21 to S22 are the following:

  • smaller screen: 6.06 inch to 6.1 inches down from 6.2 inches
  • smaller battery: 3700 mAh down from 4000 mAh
  • new CPU: Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 898
  • new telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom, up from 1.1X
  • Android 12 and One UI 4.0
