Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 press renders leak, revealing slimmer design and larger displays

Samsung’s next foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, has surfaced in a new set of official-looking press renders, giving us a detailed look just weeks ahead of the anticipated Unpacked event in July. The images, originally shared by AndroidHeadlines, showcase the device in two sleek colorways—Blue Shadow and Jet Black—and confirm several major design refinements over its predecessor.

Thinner, lighter, sharper

One of the most striking aspects of the Z Fold 7 is its significantly slimmer profile. According to leaked specs and side views, the device could measure between 4.0mm and 4.5mm when unfolded, a notable reduction from the Z Fold 6’s 5.6mm. While one rumor even suggested an ambitious 3.9mm thickness, this would be difficult to achieve considering the physical limitations of USB-C ports alone, which typically require 3.5mm of height.

Despite the ambitious slimming, Samsung appears to have re-engineered the hinge mechanism and chassis to accommodate the change, resulting in a cleaner silhouette. The redesigned hinge looks more compact, and the back panel seems less bulky compared to previous generations.

The expected weight of 215 grams is also turning heads—it’s 24 grams lighter than the Fold 6 and potentially even lighter than Oppo’s Find N5, previously one of the most featherweight foldables in the market.

Display upgrades all around

Samsung continues to refine its approach to the external display. After years of criticism for the narrow, awkward cover screen, the Z Fold 7 reportedly features a 6.5-inch outer display, up from 6.3 inches on the Fold 6. The new design sports thinner bezels and a centrally aligned punch-hole selfie camera, giving the phone a more modern, streamlined look.

On the inside, Samsung is going even bigger. The main foldable display is now said to be 8.2 inches, which would make it the largest screen ever on a foldable phone—beating out Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold (8.0 inches) and Honor’s Magic V3 (7.92 inches).

Refined camera layout and build

The rear triple camera setup remains vertically aligned, much like the Fold 5, but appears more compact and flush with the body. Samsung seems to have prioritized a cleaner, more integrated camera design this time around.

With a new, subtler hinge and refined aesthetics, the Fold 7 looks like a clear evolution in Samsung’s foldable lineup—focused not only on internal hardware but also on ergonomics and portability.

Launch date and expectations

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on July 9, during its next Unpacked event, likely taking place in New York City. While we’re still waiting on confirmation regarding the device’s chipset, battery specs, and software features, this early look confirms Samsung is pushing its foldable tech toward a more polished, mainstream-friendly direction.

More details are expected in the coming weeks—but if these renders are any indication, the Fold 7 is shaping up to be Samsung’s most refined foldable yet.
