The only mainstream gaming glasses I know are the Lenovo Legion ones and they’re pretty decent. But what if Sony made some? Enter the PlayStation XR Glasses Concept, envisioned by designer Shirish Kumar.
Meta is the one banking heavily on XR Glasses, as sort of companions for social life. Snap has Spectacles too, but the OG was Google Glass, about a decade and a half ago. They were ahead of their time. Now the PlayStation XR Glasses concept focus more on a PlayStation experience in a slim package. It adds a layer of PS to your life, much like the PS app on your phone.
It shows system notifications, a familiar PS logo next to your temple, like the Start button from Windows. The frame keeps the same design language as the PS5 and DualSense Controller, with smooth curves and angles, plus the famous blue lighting, running along the temples. The folding hinge even reveals the famous PS button symbols. We also have a front facing camera embedded here, in the corner, for object tracking and AR overlay.
Lenses are auto adjusted for darker outdoors and brighter indoor scenarios. The PS logo on the temple also works like a button, much like the controller PS button. I expect only basic features here, some media playback and casual gaming. What would be brilliant would be for it to work as a second screen of sorts, showing stats, hints, tips and decluttering the game UI.
