Sony Xperia Edge Xtreme is a Button Less and Port Less Smartphone With a Huge Screen

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.I noticed that every time I post an Xperia phone everybody goes nuts. That also happened back in 2008, when this site started, so it’s nice to see that the hardcore Sony fans are still here. Today’s item on the menu is dubbed Sony Xperia Edge Xtreme and it’s one of those new fangled button less and port less smartphones.

The trend was started by the likes of Vivo APEX 2019 and Meizu Zero, plus the Huawei Mate 30 Pro lacked volume buttons, replacing them with virtual ones. Leaksters talk about Apple ditching ports and buttons too from 2021 or 2022. Anyway, the Xperia Edge Xtreme is the creation of Tech Configurations, so be sure to watch their video below. We’re dealing with a huge phone here, with a 6.9 inch AMOLED screen and the screen also continues on the sides, going towards the back of the phone, kind of eliminating the frame in the process.

When I hear about a buttonless phone, I always ask the same question: how do you power it on? What if you have to do a hard reset? Nobody has answered me this yet. The back side of this Xperia concept looks rather generic, pretty close to the Xperia 1, Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 II we have right now. The facade is different, with a large, edge to edge and very curved screens. The volume and Power buttons are pressure sensitive and they’re located on the sides.

I’m also getting strong Galaxy Note 10 and Note 20 vibes from this design…

Also, we have a specs list from Techconfigurations, so you can feast your eyes:

I particularly like the connector used to transfer data and charge the device. That’s a nice idea and a nice touch.
