Gen Z definitely loves the word “twin”, throwing it around as often as possible and refering to something closer to a soulmate or just a shared prefence ar times. Then there’s the Digital Twin, which is basically what Lenovo promised with the AI Qira. But what about a Twin Phone?
The creation of designers Wild Mind and Olivier Verbeke, this Twin Phone concept is aimed at combining dumb feature phones with smartphones. The Twin Phone is supposed to provide the most flexible form factor you can imagine on a daily driver. The idea is to check yourself with the doom scrolling and go dumb, with the dumb phone. Then you can go back to the digital world, when you feel like it.
One half of a phone looks like a closed Galaxy Z Flip sans external screen. One half is a simple phone for calls, texting and ebooks, plus navigation. The other has a bigger battery and acts like a dock for the smaller unit. Together they make a modern smartphone. This is baiscally a modular phone and there’s also an E Ink display, that’s easy on the eyes and low on power usage.
The Twin Phone is built from recycled plastic and the on board battery can be replaced by the user easily. There’s also a large back side screw, that acts like a strap attachment for the lanyard. Colors are appealing for youngsters: orange, blue, purple, military green and white. The phone is also able to decide when it’s time to go minimal or go with a smart smartphone option.
