Even though Apple’s next flagship lineup will be the iPhone 18 series, new rumors are already surfacing about the future iPhone 19 Pro. According to a fresh leak coming from known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Apple is currently testing prototype devices with a “quad-curved” display design, featuring curved edges on all four sides of the panel.
The rumor is especially interesting because the iPhone 19 generation is expected to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone, which launched back in 2007. Over the years, multiple reports have suggested Apple was exploring a more futuristic design philosophy for that milestone device, including concepts such as an almost all-glass body, heavily curved surfaces, minimal visible ports and buttons, and a cleaner industrial design inspired by ideas associated with Steve Jobs and Jony Ive.
The new leak suggests that at least part of that vision may still be alive internally. The “quad-curved” approach would push the display glass further into the frame on all sides, potentially creating a more seamless look than current curved-edge smartphones.
What remains unclear is whether these design experiments are tied directly to the iPhone 19 Pro and Pro Max models, or if Apple is preparing a completely separate anniversary edition device. There is also speculation that Apple could rethink its branding strategy entirely by that point. Recent rumors surrounding the company’s first foldable device already suggest Apple may use the “Ultra” branding instead of “Fold,” hinting that larger naming changes could happen across the lineup.
Another detail fueling speculation is the supply chain itself. If Apple moves forward with quad-curved panels, display manufacturers would eventually need to begin large-scale production, making it difficult to keep such a project hidden from industry watchers and journalists.
For now, the devices are reportedly still in prototype testing, meaning the final design could change significantly before release. Still, the appearance of these early leaks suggests Apple may already be preparing something far more radical for the iPhone’s 20-year anniversary than a simple yearly refresh.
