Meizu is one the lesser known phone brands from China, but that doesn’t stop them from launching interesting flagships every once in a while. They also had a buttonless and bezelless prototype dubbed Meizu Zero, that had us very curious. This time we get to see a device dubbed Meizu 18 Max, with a specs sheet that sounds like 2021 and a render below.
The Meizu 17 family came in May, so it’s high time we talked about a follow-up. It could debut in Spring 2020, but the render looks unrealistic. Leaked via Weibo, the handset is said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor, together with UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. The screen is supposed to be a 3K OLED one, which is something we haven’t seen before. Ever since the first 2K display phone, LG G3, the norm has either been 2K, Full HD or 4K if you’re Sony or Sharp.
Oddly enough, the render doesn’t reveal any sort of punch holes, notches or bezels for the 32 MP selfie camera. At the back we’re supposed to expect a main 64 megapixel camera with Zeiss optics. 120W charging is also in the cards via wire and 45W wirelessly. These are upgrades from the 30W/27W rates of the Meizu 17. We also get dual stereo speakers and a dual linear vibration motor for gaming. What makes us doubt the realness of the render is how slim the device is and also the fact that it lacks a flash.
It also seems to be much slimmer when seen from the front and thicker from the back. The back side looks like a Moto Z with a Hasselblad module on.
