Motorola RAZR 70 Ultra leaks in first renders, slight thickness increase hints at upgrades

Motorola RAZR 70 Ultra seems like an afterthought, ever since the Motorola RAZR Fold, but it’s here, at least in leak form. The Ultra variant has surfaced in its first batch of CAD-based renders. The leak offers a near-complete look at the clamshell foldable’s design, alongside early details about dimensions and hardware layout. While the overall design stays familiar, there are subtle changes that suggest internal upgrades.

According to the leak, the Razr 70 Ultra will be slightly thicker than its predecessor. The device is said to measure 171.3 x 74.1 x 7.8 mm when unfolded and 88.0 x 74.1 x 15.8 mm when folded, compared to the Razr 60 Ultra’s 7.2 mm and 15.7 mm respectively. The increase is minor, but it could point to a larger battery or upgraded camera hardware. Including the camera bump, thickness may reach up to 9.6 mm unfolded and 17.6 mm folded.

Motorola appears to be sticking to a classic formula. The Razr 70 Ultra retains the clamshell form factor with a large edge-to-edge cover display and a clean dual-camera setup integrated directly into the outer panel. The renders also reveal a brushed metal finish on the rear, giving the device a more industrial, premium look compared to previous generations.

Also notice the Moto AI button placed on the left side frame, while the right side hosts the volume rocker and power button. The bottom edge includes a USB-C port, speaker grille, microphone, and SIM slot, with a secondary microphone positioned on the top edge. These details suggest a familiar ergonomic layout, with incremental refinements rather than a radical redesign.

Display sizes remain unchanged. The Razr 70 Ultra is expected to feature a 7-inch foldable inner screen and a 4-inch cover display, identical to the Razr 60 Ultra. This indicates Motorola is focusing on optimizing the existing dual-display experience rather than altering the form factor dimensions.

While full specifications are still under wraps, the Razr 70 Ultra is widely expected to be powered by a next-generation flagship chipset, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Certification leaks have already confirmed that the Razr 70 lineup will include both a standard and an Ultra model, with the vanilla Razr 70 recently appearing on TENAA.

The Razr 70 Ultra is expected to debut in the coming weeks, likely starting in China before expanding to global markets. In the US, the device could launch under the name Motorola Razr Ultra (2026). If the leaks hold true, Motorola is preparing a familiar but more polished foldable experience aimed at competing in an increasingly crowded premium segment.
