There’s nothing we love more than a fresh batch of pictures portraying 2009’s upcoming devices, specially when their branding is Motorola. We’ve been waiting for the American giant to wake up for a while now and we were pleasantly surprised by the previous four handsets they got ready for Verizon, specially that hot touchscreen Flash phone.

Now it turns out that there are three more Moto phones coming to Verizon in 2009: Motorola Fairbanks, Motorola Harmony and Motorola Niagra (below).

Niagra is basically a RIZR update, borrowing the sharp angles of Moto Flash and sporting a RAZR-like keypad. Motorola Fairbanks features a rugged clamshell design, music keys and Push to Talk, while Harmony is also a clamshell with touch sensitive music keys beneath the external LCD.

We’ve got 7 new and promising Motorola phones till now… and probably a couple more to come. Moto’s Android device and Atila should also find a place on this list.

One can’t even go to bed and wake up the next morning, without finding out that a new SE concept design has hit the prolific Esato board. After J. Havrlant did 3 versions of the T903 Ryuga, Sealover94 decided to share his vision on the future of Sony Ericsson Walkman phones.

This time, the W1 concept phone gets pictured front and back, where it reveals a nice 8 megapixel camera.

I’ve been watching the evolution of SE concepts for quite a while now and there’s a pretty strong tendency of blending Cyber-shot and Walkman handsets. Why doesn’t Sony Ericsson do it? It’s a mystery to me… It might be that a music phone with a hot camera would have a high price tag.

After seeing Sony Ericsson T903 for the first time we fell in love with it, while the second concept design offered us a view on its back and its 8.1 megapixel camera. Now it’s time to check out J. Havrlant’s last version of the Sony Ericsson T903, inspired by Mazda Ryuga and this time, the portrayed handsets are so hot that the image can be used as a wallpaper.

Wild Fold Is the Future Foldable Mobile Phone Concept, Based on Samsung’s Flexible OLED

Taking its inspiration from Samsung’s Flexible OLED (video below, after the images), the Wild Fold concept is basically a foldable mobile device, created by Mac Funamizu. He keeps the classic neat design, straight lines and all, that remind us of the Glassy concept phone.

As you can see, a foldable display/device is surely a more compact one and easier to carry.

I’m sure that the first prototype using this technology will be rather bulky, unlike Mac Funamizu’s thin handset, but if Sony and their hot flexible screens play a part in the release, we could see some brilliant tech.

Boy Genius Report have just struck gold, by getting info on Moto’s portofolio for 2009, at least the Verizon branded handsets. 4 sexy new devices can be checked out below, the most proeminent of which is surely Motorola Flash, a Windows Mobile touchscreen smartphone, that I would have called Moto’s first Android phone, if it weren’t for the WM thing…

Motorolas Got Touchscreen Smartphones, Hot Devices Coming in 2009

Turns out that Motorola Rush 2 will be available starting Q1 2009, as for the rest, there’s no information on them, except for what we can see for ourselves. Calgary and Rush 2 seem great for texting freaks and web browsing, as for Inferno, this is a classic Moto device, somehow related to Motorola Blaze.

Nokia Corolla Could be the Company’s First Hot 8 Megapixel Cameraphone

December 17th, 2008

Nokia was always about low end devices, music phones, N Series smartphones, basically any type of handset you can imagine, except for cameraphones. They never gave the world a Cyber-shot, a Renoir, an INNOV8, but it’s never too late… One year ago the web was filled with an image from the Finns’ patent showing a pretty hot cameraphone that should pack at least a 6 megapixel sensor.

Nokia Corolla Could be the Companys First Hot 8 Megapixel Cameraphone

Now, after going back to GSM Arena’s incredibly useful Nokia smartphone roadmap for 2008-2009, I ran across a device called Corolla. There seems to be no other cameraphone in the company’s portofolio to fit the description of “hot cameraphone”. Although Nokia Corolla’s specs don’t quite match the look of the patent image, the resulting device may be even better than the one we were hoping for.

Expect a handset with a 3 inch VGA display, an 8 megapixel camera, 8GB ROM, WiFi, AGPS, half QWERTY keyboard and 128 MB RAM.

E-paper Concept Phone Is Actually Closer Than You Think

December 16th, 2008

So close in fact, that it might surface during next month’s CES. The design you can see below was created by Seymour Powell (design firm) and it uses full color flexible e-paper, based on a technology developed by Liquavista. The resulting handset will display information in color, on any side of the device, as it’s covered in E-paper.

Liquavista’s display platform relies on the “electrowetting” technology, but there’s more research to do till the product is finalised.

Dialog Concept Design Should Be Popular Among Teens, Kids

Sophia Voychehovski has a thing or two to say about mobile communication, as she based her senior thesis on this subject and there’s even a neat device we spotted in her personal portofolio. Her concept handset is a handsfree phone by excellence and a touchscreen one, like most modern portable devices.

Notice the intuitive interface and the simple layout of the keypad, indicating that the device would be appealing for tweens and kids.

J. Havrlant knew that his design, the Sony Ericsson T903 handset, inspired by Mazda Ryuga left us with many questions, so here’s another and more detailed view of the device. Notice how the keys and their lighting are inspired by the automobile’s front side and now we even have a look at the handset’s back, where we discover an 8.1 megapixel camera, with Carl Zeiss optics and 3x optical zoom.

XPERIA X1 Mixes Android UI With UIQ… Nice!

Sometimes, concept phones just aren’t enough and we have a look at concept interfaces… They matter too, as one would never imagine a successful HTC Touch Diamond without that TouchFLO 3D interface. Back to Sony Ericsson, razec, from the Esato board has recently designed an UI that combines Android’s interface with a touch of UIQ.

The result can be seen below and it’s highly probable, due to the fact that Sony Ericsson joined the Open Handset Alliance (Android’s makers) last week.
