iPhone 17 Air might be too thin for its own good — leaked mockup looks almost unbelievable

The internet is ablaze this week with leaks around the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge — pricing, features, the whole nine yards. But Apple’s main rival isn’t staying quiet. The latest buzz? A striking and slightly shocking mockup of the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.

Shared by leaker Majin Bu, the model hints at a phone that’s almost impossibly thin, sporting a flat frame and flat front and back panels, all wrapped around a dramatically minimal profile. There’s a wide horizontal camera bar across the back — a design element reportedly coming to the entire iPhone 17 lineup, albeit with some tweaks across models.

It’s a look that instantly sparked comparisons to the Nexus 6P — and not in a fond, nostalgic way.

According to reports, the iPhone 17 Air could have a 6.6-inch display and replace the “Plus” model entirely in this year’s lineup, which now includes: iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the new Air. No Plus this time.

But the real kicker? It might be just 5.5mm thick. That would make it the thinnest iPhone ever — beating even the iPhone 6’s 6.9mm. To pull this off, Apple is said to be using a new high-density battery to keep power levels up while shrinking the internals down.

And yes, this all aligns with previous claims by Jon Prosser. If true, the iPhone 17 Air could be Apple’s sleekest, most extreme design decision in years — but one that might come with a price in terms of comfort, durability, or battery life.

We’ll just say it: this thing looks unreal. But maybe that’s exactly the point.
