After Apple cloned the iPhone 5s with the iPhone SE and then it cloned the iPhone 8 with the SE 2 and SE 3, now it’s time to see the iPhone SE 4. Long story short, the device is a recycled iPhone XR, repurposed by Apple and with a Touch ID button on the side or top.
It has a notch, but it may or may not include a Face ID sensor. The source of the leak is Jon Prosser and the info he has was used by designer Ian Zelbo to create a 3D render. The color scheme includes Midnight, product RED and Starlight. The CPU on the iPhone SE 2023 is expected to be an Apple A15 probably, just like the iPhone SE (2022), although it would feel weird to see that 2021 CPU on a phone rumored to come in 2024. We also expect more RAM, a bigger battery and faster charging.
The switch to USB-C is forced by the EU and will probably happen for the iPhone 15 as well, or the iPhone 16. I wonder what the camera resolution is, but I suppose it’s either a 12 MP module or with a bit of luck the 48 MP sensor from the iPhone 14 Pro. We also have a 12 MP front camera most likely, with 4K 60 FPS video capture. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo seems to believe that the device will have a Touch ID side button for authentication.
The screen will be a 6.1 inch LCD with a notch at the top. Basically, an iPhone XR with a new CPU and a new camera… Will it have buyers, since Apple already seems to have two flops under its belt this year: iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone 14 Plus according to rumors.
